Chapter 45: Madra’s ninjutsu
Fugaku considered it, but he knew his infiltration ability was poor, so he decided to postpone it for now. He acknowledged that infiltration skills were not ninjutsu but required knowledge and experience. Until now, Fugaku had only focused on studying ninjutsu without any opportunity to learn tracking and infiltration skills.
These skills could be quite useful at times, but then again, this was the base root, and it seemed difficult to infiltrate. It was better to wait for another time.
"Okay, let's head to the Naka Shrine and study some ninjutsu," he exclaimed, but then shook his head as if changing his mind. As he approached the shrine where the Uchiha clan kept their valuable ninja scrolls, most of the ninjutsu in the Uchiha clan’s possession were fire releases. He had either seen them before or had no interest in them. He was only here to take one last look.
"Lord Clan Head, what brings you here?" The two clan members who guarded the scrolls looked startled to see their leader at this hour.
They were both around twenty years old and very respectful in their demeanor. They were awed by Fugaku’s feat of defeating five hundred clan members by himself the day before. It was an unbelievable record.
They had not joined the battle because of their duty, but two other clan members who were off duty had fought alongside Fugaku. One of them had suffered from seizures after being electrocuted, and the other had praised the battle as glorious. At first, they had been skeptical, but when they saw their clansmen being brought back one after another, they had no choice but to believe it.
He nodded at the two of them. "I’m just taking a look."
"Do you want us to show you around?" One of the men asked as he patted his shoulder and smiled. "No need to bother. You’re doing a great job. You should rest more while you can."
They were the guards of the ninja scrolls, entrusted with protecting the Uchiha clan’s secrets. Fugaku’s gesture made the two guards feel honored, and they bowed their heads respectfully.
They felt like Genin Ninja was being praised by a hokage, a feeling that filled them with pride. He ignored them and walked through the gate.
He entered a sealed room built entirely of hard and thick rocks, except for the gate. There were cabinets like bookshelves, filled with neatly arranged scrolls. He scanned them carefully, noticing that each cabinet had an attribute label. It seemed that the Uchiha clan had more than just fire ninjutsu.
"Water Dragon Bullet? Useless. What about this water wall? I’ve already learned it by copying someone else, but it’s not good enough." Fugaku threw them back, and the ninjutsu scrolls one by one. "Earth Dragon Bullet, useless. Earth Flow Wall, already learned."
He scanned the lightning release scrolls, but there were only a few of them. They were all C-level ninjutsu, nothing impressive. It seems that lightning attribute ninjutsu still needs to be developed, according to his understanding.
He was a little disappointed. There were hundreds of ninjutsu scrolls here, but none of them seemed useful. These ninjutsu were only good for low-level ninja. To kill a kage-level shinobi in this world, he needed A or S rank ninjutsu.
He needed something unique. Something like Kakashi’s Raikiri and Sharingan, Kakashi claimed to have copied a thousand ninjutsu as the "Copy Ninja of Sharigan", but he still depended on his own ninjutsu to kill his foes. Those were his distinctive traits.
He could use those ninjutsu too, and he could use them better than Kakashi. But his goal was not to copy him.
His eyes were drawn to a scroll he had just picked up. A-level fire release? He wondered why this scroll was placed differently. It was at the top of the fire release section. Was it really A-level?
Fugaku untied the thread of the scroll and opened it. He gasped as he saw Ninjustu: "Great Fire Annihilation".
"Isn’t this Uchiha Madara’s most powerful fire release? I thought he took it with him when he left." He wondered aloud. "Why didn’t Fugaku learn this A-level fire release before?"
He read on and understood. "No wonder. This ninjutsu requires large chakra reserves and precise control." He guessed that he had not learned this ninjutsu because he was lacking in either chakra or chakra control.
He was aware that the Uchiha clan were the descendants of the Sage of Six Paths. The Sage’s two sons, Indra and Asura, inherited his dōjutsu and physique, respectively.
Back then, their chakra levels were not much different. But after generations, the Uchiha clan’s dōjutsu bloodline gradually weakened, while the Senju clan’s physique was easier to pass on.
[A/N: In remembrance of the Madara and Senjurama era]
So now, the Uchiha clan not only weakened compared to the Senju clan in terms of strength because of their chakra and Wood Release, but also struggled to awaken their Sharingan. Their chakra level was only slightly higher than that of ordinary ninjas, except for Uchiha Madara, who inherited Indra’s chakra.
