I Am an Evil God

chapter 3

Episode 3-Sacrifices

As soon as Shepid got up, he ran to the village’s collectively owned field.

Rather than being the main food supplier, it was a field made to supplement a bit of food that was lacking, but Lemfra-sama told me last night that a small miracle was given to it.

Since it was so early, no one was awake except those who were guarding the village, and the village chief was able to arrive at the field soon.

“I can’t believe it.”

The village chief sat down on the ground and put his hand into the ground.

It was on a different level from the crumbly soil so far.

It was greasy and glossy soil.

The village headman, who did not know much about fields, could also see that the current soil condition was much better than normal soil conditions.

It was to the point where it seemed as if the crops in front of me were growing in real time.

‘No, are you really growing up?’

It was a time when the harvest was just around the corner.

Crops that had been planted a long time ago were growing at a visible rate.

It’s a miracle.

As soon as the people woke up, the village chief called all the villagers to the field.

“Look at this, Lemfra gave us the blessing of fast growing plants. He called this a small miracle.”

“A small miracle? How can plants grow quickly be a small blessing?”

“Lemfra is a god! He is such a great man that making plants grow quickly is not so great for him.”

All the villagers were amazed.

Even if you close your eyes for about 10 minutes, the plants will grow to the extent that you can notice it right away.

This is a small miracle, and now they know how great Lemfra’s power they believe in is.

Residents who had been skeptical of believing in Lemfra until now had no choice but to believe it when they brought evidence with their eyes.

“Limfra gave us such a valuable gift, what have we done so far! Have we ever done anything helpful to Lemfra or thanked him? From now on, do it every day. We will have time to say thank you to Lemfra-nim right after we lose.”

“That’s right!”

A villager who was obsessed with Lemfra acted like a wind catcher.

Since one person sang, the whole village started shouting that the opinion was correct, and the village chief’s opinion to pray to Lemfra every evening was passed very easily.

This is the beginning of an early form of ancestral rites.

I thought I was grateful to Lemfra by simply gathering them in one place, but the amount of divine power gathered in a short period of time, around 30 minutes, exceeded 30% of the previous divine power gathered in a day, so I came to shout bitterly at my followers. The reward was enough.

The effect of prayer was not limited to that alone.

Just having the residents sit in the same place and share their appreciation for Lemfra for 30 minutes strengthened the bond between the residents and increased their faith in Lemfra, increasing the amount of divine power they earned outside of prayer time.

‘I should have told you earlier.’

If the oracle had told me to meet periodically and pray for me when I first gave it, I would have been rich in divine power by now.

In the first place, I couldn’t do that because I lacked divine power, but I couldn’t help it.

Time passed quickly.

The time to harvest the crops came before anyone knew it, and while they were happy to see so many crops that were incomparable to last year, the residents began to do strange things.

Isn’t it that half of the harvested crops are gathered in the center of the village and gathered around it in a circle?

Just because they were ancient didn’t mean they didn’t have recipes.

Humans who eat perfectly grilled meat probably didn’t want to chew the grain raw.

Shepid gave a clear answer to Lemfra, who wondered why it looked like that.

“Lempra, our creator, please accept our offerings. These are the crops we have grown for a year.”

Then, isn’t it bringing the fire from the center of the village and putting it on the crops?

At the sight of the village headman burning the crops he had carefully cultivated for a year, I wondered if I should immediately go into his head and yell at him not to do that, but he had no divine power left.

“If I burn all of this, will Lemfra enjoy it?”

“Then, you’ll enjoy it at Lempra’s house.”

“You said it was Lemfra’s house? Is that place real?”

“Yes?”

At the corner of the plaza, people started flocking to a woman who answered her daughter’s questions.

From the point of view of the residents, it was not known where Lemfra lived.

I thought that Ma-yeon was living next to us, and I was actually watching from the side, but when I heard the word Lemfra-sama’s house, I thought that there might be a house where God lives.

“Everyone, be quiet! It’s time to offer sacrifices to Lemfra-sama. Lemfra-sama comes down to take care of us from time to time. Of course, there will be a separate place for Lemfra-sama.”

The village chief who knew Lemfra best in his village said so, so everyone accepted it.

At that moment, Lemfra’s vision changed.

‘What is it?’

Until just now, I was standing there looking at the residents, but when I came to my senses, everything was in a black room.

When I was wondering why this happened, I saw the crops that had been burned earlier piled up in the corner of the room.

‘Did this new place come about because the followers believed that I had my own place?’

They said that faith is power, but I didn’t know that such a thing would be possible.

When I thought of going down to the human world, I was able to go down to the human world right away.

Crops burned up and disappeared before anyone knew it, and the villagers kneeled reverently in front of them, putting their heads on the ground.

‘For them to give their food, of course they have to be punished.’

After receiving the sacrifice, the divine power increased tremendously.

Could it be because the villagers received the crops that they managed to achieve with their hard work? An enormous amount of divine power, enough to lightly exceed two months’ worth, was accumulated in Lemfra.

‘I’d rather give him a prize.’

They should know that they are doing a good job.

If a being whose existence was revealed only in the village chief’s dream is to the extent of directly handing out the prize, he will know how meaningful the act of offering a sacrifice is to his god.

I didn’t waste any more time.

Black smoke rose around the village chief.

Black smoke was created while the lights were all out, so people couldn’t help but think of Lemfra’s name naturally.

“Ah… Father?”

I didn’t say it.

The divine power was precious.

The black smoke was sucked into the village chief’s forehead and disappeared leaving behind a black swirl pattern on his forehead.

“Chief, are you blessed?”

“I think so.”

It started from the forehead and seemed to overflow with energy.

When I shook my body lightly, it was much sharper than usual, and the power contained in each muscle was incomparable to before.

Who gave you this power?

Of course, it is the power given to us by our creator, Lemfra.

‘We’re doing well.’

Tears welled up in the village chief’s eyes.

Even when I was offering the sacrifice, I was worried about whether this was the right thing to do.

Isn’t it just burning precious crops for no reason?

Isn’t Lemfra angry that she destroyed the crops she made?

That worry was relieved by a pattern on his forehead.

Tears flowed from the village chief’s eyes.

“God was pleased with our sacrifice!”

The fact that they made Lempra-sama happy was so emotional that I couldn’t help but shed tears.

“From now on, we will obey Lemfra for the rest of our lives! If we make Lempra happy, Lemfra will reward us!”

The village chief wiped the tears from his eyes and looked back at the villagers.

“Everyone, close your eyes and say a prayer of thanks to Lemfra.”

No one objected to the village chief’s words.

All the residents were trembling with the thrill of having seen the fragment of a god.

They all put their hands together and offered a prayer of thanks to Lemfra.

***

Even though half of the grain was offered to Lemfra, the food production increased so much that there was a lot of grain left.

As much as the amount of grain increased, we will be able to survive the upcoming winter more safely.

During the transition from autumn to winter, the village chief began exploring the surrounding villages.

The village chief knew that there were humans living around here.

Although they have never met in person, analyzing the traces found at the hunting grounds, there must have been other people besides them.

In order to spread the faith in Lemfra to those humans, the village chief organized an expedition.
