I am an Alien in another reality.

Chapter 13: A Day of Shopping

The sun peeked through the curtains of Alex's luxurious hotel room, gently waking him. He stretched out on the comfortable bed, a smile tugging at his lips as Lily's voice filled his mind.

[Good morning, Alex.]

"Morning, Lily," Alex replied, sitting up. The Ritz was an expensive place, but it was comfortable, and he had no complaints.

He stood and glanced at the clock. There was still plenty of time in the day. He had a plan, shopping. But first, he needed galleons.

[You're going shopping? Aren't you planning to go visit Hogwarts and witness the heroic actions of the savior?] Lily asked, a bit of sarcasm in her voice.

Alex grinned. "It's May 28, 1992 today, so there's about a week before the final showdown. I already know what's about to happen. Besides, the old man, Dumbledore, is there. Let's not ruin the arrangement of the old dean."

He moved around the room, preparing to leave. After a quick breakfast, Alex grabbed the trunk he'd bought the previous day.

He needed more gold to fund his little shopping spree.

Luckily, there were no security cameras in this era. Using his limitless energy, Alex synthesized gold out of thin air, roughly 110 pounds. More than enough for what he planned.

After bagging the gold, he made his way to Diagon Alley.

Once at the Leaky Cauldron, he tapped the familiar sequence on the brick wall, and the archway opened, revealing Diagon Alley.

The street was bustling with witches and wizards. He walked straight to Gringotts Wizarding Bank, where he exchanged his gold for galleons.

As Alex approached the Gringotts counter, a goblin with sharp, calculating eyes looked up from his work. "How can I assist you today, sir?" the goblin asked, his voice cold but not unfriendly, looking at Alex, who had an exceptional bearing.

"I'd like to exchange this for galleons," Alex said, placing the 110 pounds of pure gold on the counter. The counter creaked as the goblin's eyes flicked over the gold with a discerning gaze.

"Impressive," the goblin murmured, examining the gold. "99.99 percent purity, I see. Very rare. What exactly do you intend to do with such a large amount of gold?"

Alex gave a small smile, his tone casual. "I'm sure you don't need to know that, do you? I'm just here to exchange it."

The goblin didn't flinch at the slight rebuke. Instead, he picked up a scale, weighed the gold, and made a few quick notes.

"The current exchange rate for gold to galleons will give you quite a substantial sum," the goblin replied, his voice even. "However, I must inform you that Gringotts charges a handling fee for such a large exchange. It's a mere formality, of course."

Alex raised an eyebrow but said nothing, allowing the goblin to continue.

After a moment, the goblin slid a stack of galleons across the counter. "Your exchange is complete. 7,000 galleons, minus the fee. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"

"Not today, thank you," Alex replied, taking the galleons. He gave the goblin a polite nod and turned to leave, his thoughts already turning to his next move.

The goblin watched him go, the faint trace of curiosity in his eyes. He had never seen such a man before, related to the noble families.

With the transaction completed, Alex made his way to Flourish and Blotts, where he picked up several books related to magic and magical animals.

He also purchased the books for first years, books related to alchemy, and magical items. His main interest was in enchanted objects, particularly the traceless extension bag.

He'd heard of it before and thought it would be useful to carry things, maybe even magical creatures and plants like Newt Scamander. He wanted to study it more closely.

Afterward, Alex headed to Knockturn Alley, hoping to find one of these bags. He wasn't particularly fond of the area, but it had what he was looking for.

As he passed in front of Borgin and Burkes, three shady figures began to follow him.

Their clothes were tattered, and their faces twisted into menacing expressions.

They moved in closer, and Alex sensed their intentions. The alley grew colder as the wizards surrounded him, wands drawn, sneering at him.

Alex ignored them at first, continuing to walk. But then, one of them spoke.

"Think you can just walk through Knockturn Alley, kid?" the wizard sneered. "You don't belong here."

Alex glanced over his shoulder. "I wasn't planning on interacting with you, but since you're courting death, so be it." His tone was calm, but the danger in his words was clear.

The wizards laughed, not taking him seriously. But as they moved toward him, Alex extended his energy, spreading it outward.

The pressure in the air increased, and the wizards froze, pale and unable to move.

He collected their wands, crushing them with a thought, and then flicked his wrist.

The wizards were thrown back, hitting the walls of the alley with a sickening thud.

Blood spurted from their mouths as they crashed to the ground, knocked out cold.

His movement was elegant and swift, with no nonsense.

Some dark wizards in the surroundings, observing the commotion, lowered their heads and moved away.

Alex turned and walked towards a store named Borgin and Burkes.

If he remembered correctly, this was a well-known shop throughout the series.

As he entered the dark shop, an older man with a hunched back eyed him warily. He could see the effect Alex had just had on the thugs outside.

Alex approached the counter. "I'm looking for a traceless extended box," he said politely.

The shopkeeper, a man named Borgin, hesitated for only a moment before bowing slightly. "We have such items, sir."

He disappeared into the back, returning with a small wooden box inlaid with silver. "This one has been enchanted with a traceless extension charm. It can store up to 50 square meters."

Alex nodded, taking the box. It was exactly what he needed. He handed over the galleons to pay for it, then left the shop.

Exiting Knockturn Alley, Alex made his way back to the Ritz. He was pleased with the day's results: a set of useful books, a traceless extension box for his studies, and a slight display of power.

Once back at the hotel, Alex relaxed in his room, setting the box aside as he unpacked.

He was eager to start studying, particularly the new books he'd picked up. There was much to learn about magic, and Alex wanted to study its principles for his own use.
