Chapter 41: Range (41)
Krista from where she could see that Akira's current state was anything but good, he under normal circumstances would rather not threaten people.
However, upon seeing the veins around his eyes, she realized why he was acting like this.
He could see it, the people dying all around them, his eyes captured it all.
The reason he was so pressed was because he could see so many people dying while the people meant to help couldn't do anything about it.
She watched as he used his needles in order to immobilize the titans just to make a safe route for the cadet to get to the fueling place.
Anytime someone would get caught by a titan, he would use his inhuman strength to save them, somehow they were finding the route with the less titans to travel toward their destination.
Krista knew that Akira's eyes could see all around them, she knew that even as they moved at such superhuman speed, his eyes could still look ahead and help them find safety.
*ROAR*
Akira stopped as he heard a titan roar, his gaze went toward a titan.
A 15-meter tall titan...
The attack titan stood there in all of its glory as he had just slaughtered about 10 titans, he roared menacingly as the wound on its body healed.
"Eren...." Akira mutters to himself.
Armin looked at Akira confused, he was next to him when he heard him mention Eren's name.
"That titan can't be Eren, Eren dead," Armin said as if remembering a horrible memory.
"No...there, on the titan nape, I can see Eren" Akira pointed out, he felt 3 chakra signatures fluctuate behind him, was that fear?
Why would a cadet be afraid that he could tell if a titan had a human piloting it?
"...It can be.."Armin's voice said shaking a bit, it couldn't be his friend right, Eren had died.
"You must be wrong"
"Tell me one time my eyes have been wrong"
Armin stayed quiet a bit, no matter how absurd it sounded, it might be true, Akira eyes were never wrong about something, the way they could detect stuff was scary at times.
However, it might be his own hope that his friend was alive.
"You telling us that this titan is Eren" Jean's voice came saying.
"Not the titan itself, Eren is in the nape, he....is...controlling it?" Akira added as the vein around his eyes bulged just a bit more.
"Just like the collosol titan"
Once again, he felt a very afraid chakra signature behind him, as he turned around to look at the cadet, he found nothing out of the ordinary.
"Are you saying that the collosol titan is being piloted by a human"
"Not saying, he is"
"Do you know who that is"
"No, I don't, by the time I got close to look at it, titans were beginning to enter the wall through the crack so I only got a glimpse of it before the wielder fled"
Akira was going to say something else, but he was forced to grab Armin and pull him back, before using gale palm to push himself back just in time as a massive boulder went past them.
Armin looked mortified as he had almost lost his life there, he was going to thank Akira but Akira's eyes focused on the battlefield again.
"Go get your refills"
Akira's eyes tossed a needle to his left, A titan that had tried to sneak up on the group fell on the floor, limp.
"Jeez, does he have eyes behind his back" Ymir added as she looked at the aim of Akira, even when it seemed like he wasn't paying attention...if those veins were present it meant one thing.
No one could sneak up on him.
She was now firsthand noticing why the Hyuga clan Byakugan was considered priceless.
Imaging a clan full of people that each possess Akira's skill and power made her realize how truly terrifying such a clan must have been to face off in battle.
As they entered the supply room, Jean walked up close to Akira.
"You mentioned something about a range...how far can you truly see"
Akira gazed at Jean before opening his mouth and saying "About 400 meters in all directions, it doesn't matter if a building is in the way, if you are within that range....I can see you"
"Though if I rather focus in one single direction and ignore everything else...about 2 kilometers"
...
..
..
'Wait, wasn't Akira-kun's range 500 meters in all directions and 3 kilometers in one direction?' Krista thought to herself,
She then began to realize that Akira was withholding some truth from them.
Her eyes then widened as she remembered Akira's earlier sentence about the collosol titan being piloted, the titan attacking as soon as he was in range was not a coincidence, the person who had attacked the wall was aware of his byakugan.
Akira was feeding them half-truth statements, he wanted to catch the imposter off-guard by feeding it half-truth statements.
Something she did not notice was the sweating Berthold behind her.....he was almost caught, this boy was dangerous.
Akira was dangerous, such a skill with locating stuff, he could now understand why such value was placed on his eyes.
