Chapter 22: Tea (22)
Akira yawned a bit, his gaze landed at the window nearby, all he could see outside his house was snow.
There was a lot of snow, all he could see outside his house was just the color white and nothing more.
It was snowing heavily, it was snowing so much in fact, that the snow looked as white as his pupilless eyes.
He felt slightly chilly, however the fire, from the fireplace that was made out of bricks....no wood, he was not that stupid, was keeping the inside of the house quite warm.
However, if he wanted to be more warm, he would have to get closer to the fireplace.
The house was pretty warm in general, just a bit chilly since his room was next to a slightly open window.
Dragging himself out of bed, he made his way toward the window before making sure it was closed.
He then walked toward the bathroom, he saw a full bucket full of warm water, it seemed to have been placed there recently.
Krista had probably placed it there when she heard him tossing and turning on the bed.
Taking a much-needed shower felt pretty nice.
After fully cleaning himself with some warm water, he dressed up in some pretty comfy clothes.
Akira then made his way toward the living room.
As he entered the room, Krista could be seen sitting near the corner of the room, her hair tied in a ponytail, she was wearing a white buttoned shirt alongside some white pants.
All in all her outfit seems to resemble the count outfit just without the brown uniform and green jacket.
From the corner of his eyes, he saw that she was writing something, he wondered what it was about.
"Good morning Krista," He said with a small smile on his face as greeted her.
"Morning, Akira-kun"
"What are you writing about?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
She held the book in her hand before in a very timid voice reply.
"no...nothing important"
That sounded like a lie but oh well, it was what it was.
It wasn't like he could force her to give the answer to his question right now.
He decided to just speak to her about random stuff cause why not?
They spoke for a while, that was until a winter storm started happening outside their little house, causing the temperature inside the house to get down to a level where they could feel the cold.
"I will add some more firewood," He said calmly to which she just nodded her head.
As he would go outside to get some of the firewood from the storage area, she was going to make some good tea in the meantime.
While Akira was going to get some wood, she would make full use of the wood they currently had available.
She huddled herself closer to the fireplace, she could feel the winter chill seeping into her bones.
She rummaged through her kitchen cabinet managing to pull out a small, wooden box filled with dried herbs with the label of, 'for tea' on them.
Well guess it helped to live with someone who was so organized, that she selected a blend of Chamomile and mint, from the book she read, she knew those herbs would warm her body and soothe her mind.
She made sure to be extra careful when she measured the amount of herbs in the tea, Some lavender couldn't hurt anyone.
She then used whatever wood was left in order to boil some fresh water, she then made sure to pour the freshly boiled water over the herbs, allowing the fragrant aromas to fill the room.
As she waited for the tea to steep, Krista watched as the flame roared to life, using every piece of dried wood that was left in order to properly boil the tea.
Upon finishing making the tea, Akira entered the house, it seemed like his job of gathering the dried wood was done.
"Sorry it took so long, they were like 14 inches of snow infront of the door" He explained calmly.
"Its okay" She replied politely
"I made tea," She said with a smile on her face.
She was just so precious he couldn't help himself but feel like he was melting at her wonderful smile.
"What flavor..."
"Mint"
A smile appeared on his face as he took 3 pieces of logs and tossed them in the fireplace...he then placed the other 9 or so pieces that he was carrying somewhere nearby just in case the fireplace needed more wood anytime soon.
He then walked toward her before taking the tea that she had served him.
He blew on the tea before taking a sip, it felt warm and cozy, and he liked that.
"Thank you for the tea," He said with a bright smile, not noticing the huge blush currently on the girl's face.
"No..problem," She said twindling her thumbs a bit.
Was it her or did he look more attractive?
