Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Confidence X Evana
Crack!
Noah casually grabbed the incoming stone and crushed it as if it were a biscuit. He then turned his head, looking towards the direction from which the stone had come.
A figure was hastily hiding behind a shed.
"Do you guys know that little girl? The one wearing white clothes with a ponytail." Although the figure had hidden quickly, with Noah's keen eyes, he had already seen her clearly. So, he turned to the others and asked.
The little girl in white clothes with a ponytail?
Upon hearing Noah's question, Jerl and the others, including Ashu, who had walked over, couldn't help but recall the girl who had changed her face using magic earlier, Evana.
"Could it be her?" Wood raised his head and looked in the direction Noah had observed.
"Who?" Noah asked, looking at Woody.
"The little girl we met in Ruixi's shop earlier." Ashu came to Noah's side and explained what had happened earlier.
Of course, he didn't mention Evana's face-changing magic, just briefly mentioning that there was a girl who knew Ruixi.
After hearing Ashu's explanation, Noah showed a sudden realization and asked Ruixi, "Is she your relative?"
"Not really, Evana occasionally comes to my shop to keep me company. We can be considered friends, and so is Shizuku. However, I invited Shizuku myself, while Evana came by herself a month ago. After all, I'm usually quite lonely, so having them both as companions is nice." Ruixi explained.
"So, is she reluctant to see you go now?" Noah looked at the shed again.
Ruixi's face showed a rather strange expression, as if the possibility Noah mentioned had never occurred to her. After a while, she awkwardly said, "I don't think that's the reason."
After some consideration, Ruixi continued, "That child's personality is somewhat unpredictable. If the one we just saw was really her, it's probably out of curiosity."
"Oh?"
Thinking for a moment, Noah's figure flashed as he flew towards the direction of the shed.
"That guy reacted pretty quickly, gathering so many people. Are you all here for work? I'd like to see where you're going." Behind the shed, Evana held a homemade slingshot in her hand, squatting on the ground, muttering to herself.
"We are butlers of the Zoldyck Family," a voice sounded in her ears.
"Zoldyck? What's that?" Evana's mouth twitched, and she instinctively turned her head back in response.
"Uh? Who are you!" When she turned around, she discovered Noah standing right next to her. Evana was so startled that she let out a strange cry and took several steps back.
"You dared to attack me without knowing who I am. You've got some nerve," Noah's gaze slid over the slingshot in her hand, and he thought to himself.
So, the stones that flew earlier were shot with a slingshot? The strength and accuracy are quite impressive.
"Ahaha, how strange, what was I doing just now? I don't like it. I'm not a bad kid~" Evana blinked, scratched her head with one hand, and quickly hid the slingshot behind her back when she noticed it.
"Ahahaha, weird, why am I here? I'm going now." Evana pretended to be a well-behaved child, slowly backing away.
Noah found it somewhat amusing to watch the little girl in front of him. He then said, "Are you leaving? I noticed you seemed curious about us earlier. Do you have any questions?"
Noah knew in his heart that although he had resolved the lingering obsession from his previous life, it had left a slight impact on him.
Whenever he saw a lonely child, he had an impulse to protect them. Shizuku was like that, and so was the ponytailed girl in front of him.
That's why he had come to her and started a conversation. If it were someone else, Noah would have simply ignored them.
Hearing Noah's words, Evana stopped her retreating steps, and her smile quickly disappeared from her face. Curiosity replaced it in her eyes.
"What did you just say about being a Zoldyck Family member?" She asked directly.
Evana could sense that the person in front of her was fundamentally different from the usual bosses and leaders she had encountered before.
If Noah truly intended to kill her, she probably wouldn't have any room to resist.
However, it seemed that Noah didn't have such intentions now, and he was even asking her if she had any questions. In that case, she wouldn't hold back.
Unaware of the other party's intentions and realizing there was no escaping, she decided to ask her questions straightforwardly.
This was Evana's way of thinking. If others knew what she was thinking at this moment, they would probably be shocked.
A child of about five or six years old with such complex thoughts was no less mature than an adult.
Noah, on the other hand, was quite surprised by Evana's instant change.
This Shizukuevil was similar to Illumi in some ways. It was astonishing that there could be someone like her in the Meteor City.
The impression Evana gave Noah now was similar to what he felt when he first met Illumi.
However, the former seemed slightly more immature than the latter, and she lacked a bit of presence. After all, Illumi's upbringing was quite different from hers.
Still, she's quite something.
With these thoughts in mind, Noah smiled and explained, "The Zoldyck Family is a world-famous family of assassins. All the members of the Zoldyck Family are top-notch killers, and we are the butlers of the Zoldyck Family."
"Do assassins need butlers?" Evana tilted her head and asked with some confusion.
"Of course, assassins are also human and have daily lives."
"Then, is Aunt Ruixi also going to be a butler for that Zoldyck Family?" Evana continued to ask.
Nodding, Noah replied, "Yes, Miss Ruixi has unique abilities that make her suitable for this position. I believe you've noticed it since you've spent time with her."
"Ah, I can tell. You have the same scent as Aunt Ruixi, but even more… even more…" Evana searched for the right adjectives in her mind and continued, "Even more imposing."
"Miss Ruixi, I can understand, but what about the others? Can Shizuku also handle it? Isn't she just a little kid like me?" After saying the previous sentence, Evana continued, wearing an expression of dissatisfaction.
"So, you chased after us because of this?" Looking at her, Noah immediately guessed the reason for her pursuit. "You're quite competitive for someone so young."
"What's with that? You're talking as if you're an old man. You're just a little older than me." Evana sniffled and said with discontent.
"I don't think I'm inferior to Shizuku, and she's a bit clumsy. What she can do, I'm sure I can do too, and I can definitely do it better, much better. Do you believe me?" With that, Evana took a few steps forward and came directly in front of Noah.
She tilted her small neck and looked at Noah seriously.
Seeing her earnest and serious expression, Noah couldn't help but smile.
