Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Fright X Ashu’s Past
"Get the hell out of here, you bastards!"
A tall man covered in injuries, whom Ashu referred to as "Leol," stepped out of the smoke and dust. He didn't bother to check the situation inside the house and just let out a furious roar.
"I didn't expect that you're still alive! First, I'll deal with you all, and then I'll take care of that damn Ashu…" Leol twisted his neck and spoke menacingly.
However, when his gaze finally turned to the living room, his voice abruptly stopped, like a chicken suddenly grabbed by the neck.
"A… Ashu?"
Leol blinked his eyes, then shook his head as if not believing what he saw, and when he looked into the living room again, he finally realized that this was not a hallucination.
The steel boots scraped against the ground, and Leol instinctively took a step back, fear on his face. Only then did he notice Ashu's presence.
"I thought it was someone else. Turns out it's really you, you bastard," Ashu said as he squinted his eyes, and a murderous aura emanated from him.
Leol may have appeared fierce, but he was just an ordinary person who couldn't use Nen.
Feeling Ashu's aura from this distance, Leol was struck as if by lightning. He sat down on the ground, trembling in fear, his face full of terror.
The dozen or so people who were following behind Leol, ready to enter the house, were also taken aback by their leader suddenly sitting down.
"Who is it?" The sound of the door exploding also reached Jerl and the other two who had just gone upstairs to pack their belongings.
Wood rushed downstairs with a menacing air, holding a pitch-black pistol in his hand.
"Leol? You, aren't you dead?" Woody arrived by Ashu's side, got a clear look at the person sitting on the ground, and a surprised expression appeared on his face.
Wood's appearance didn't even catch Leol's attention. By now, Leol had completely forgotten the purpose of his visit. In his sight, there was only Ashu's icy-cold pupils.
"Familiar face?" Noah glanced casually at Leol, then shifted his gaze to the door behind Leol. He shrugged and said, "Looks like there are more outside."
With a sneer, Ashu slowly approached Leol. "Quite a familiar face indeed."
Thump, thump, thump.
The environment was not exactly quiet at this moment, but Ashu's crisp footsteps sounded like drumbeats, each one resounding clearly in Leol's ears.
It echoed heavily in Leol's heart. Watching Ashu getting closer and closer, Leol's fear grew, and he wanted to run, but his body wouldn't listen.
He could only sit on the ground trembling in vain.
When Ashu arrived in front of Leol, he looked down at him from a position of superiority. After a silent two seconds, he slowly reached out his hand and covered Leol's face.
Seeing that hand slowly enveloping his field of vision, Leol's body trembled even more violently.
Then, he made a low, hoarse sound in his throat, rolled his eyes upward, and collapsed backward, only his two hands still trembling unconsciously.
He was scared to death.
"What a waste." Ashu, upon seeing that Leol had died just like that, snorted and withdrew his hand.
Jerl and the two others standing behind couldn't believe their eyes when they witnessed this scene.
Although they knew that Ashu was a big shadow for Leol, they never expected Leol to be frightened to death. In their impression, Leol was not such a timid guy.
What they didn't know was that Ashu was a Nen user, and in the face of Ashu's emitted killing intent combined with Leol's own fear of Ashu, Leol was frightened to death.
What exactly did Ashu do to this guy before? Noah couldn't help but be curious when he saw Leol being scared to death.
Leol had come this time because he had confirmed that Ashu was no longer in Meteor City.
Only Jerl and the others were left, so he had deliberately brought his subordinates to seek revenge. But he never expected to run into Ashu.
Leol only uttered a couple of harsh words before dying directly.
When the subordinates of Leol, the thugs outside, found out that their boss had died shortly after entering, and that Ashu was inside, they panicked and scattered.
Naturally, Ashu had no interest in chasing after those small fries. He casually glanced at Leol's corpse, then looked up at Jerl and asked, "Is everything packed up?"
"It's done, there is nothing much." Wood put the pistol back at his waist, walked up with a grin, and kicked Leol's body aside, saying, "I never thought this bastard would still be alive, but he's really unlucky. He ran into our big brother right away."
"He didn't die, but he became a coward. He was scared to death when he saw our big brother. Despite that, he still dared to come looking for revenge against the three of us." Jerl said disdainfully, then turned and walked back upstairs.
Ashu didn't say a word. Killing Leol in his mind was no different from stepping on an ant.
He waited quietly as Jerl and the others finished packing things up, and then he walked out first.
"The scars on his arm and face look like they were left by a dagger." Noah's voice sounded from behind him.
Ashu turned around and saw Noah looking at him calmly.
"He's called Leol, the leader of another gang on a different street. He used to have the most conflicts with our side." Ashu fell silent for a few seconds and then spoke slowly.
Noah waited quietly for his continuation.
"I have a younger brother named Aheng, who is six years younger than me. Aheng is too impulsive. Because of a minor issue back then, he couldn't bear it and got into a conflict with Leol's gang. Regardless of the fact that they had more people, he fought them on the spot and ended up seriously injured. Leol even injected him with some strange drug, causing a strange illness."
"I found out later and brought people over. I caught Leol and brought him in front of my younger brother. I used my dagger to leave those scars on him, and then I threw him into the outskirts' trash heap, letting the vultures outside deal with him. But I never expected that he wouldn't die like this, which is somewhat beyond my expectations."
"That's why he's so afraid of you." Noah raised an eyebrow. Torturing someone in such a way, then tossing them to the vultures, was certainly not something a normal person could endure.
"Later, in order to cure my younger brother's illness, I needed 1.5 million Jenny in medical expenses. I scraped together everything from Leol's side and all my belongings, but I only had 500,000." Ashu said with a hint of bitterness in his smile.
"So that's why you chose to become a butler for the Zoldyck Family." Noah finally understood why Ashu had chosen to participate in the butler assessment. As he had said, it was for the money.
