"Okay, Nicholas you have a basic understanding of Nen at the moment but that's all you need for your next task," I say while walking up to one of the shiny metal walls. "You are going to create a Hatsu. I know you are wondering what a Hatsu is as the only one of you I have told about them is Hanzo. Hatsu is the expression of your power. Your personal, unique ability made manifest through the usage of already-established principles of Nen."

"Hatsu is used to project one's aura to carry out a certain function, creating a special and unique ability. These abilities are colloquially referred to as a "Nen ability" that one can use to do just about anything. When you create that ability you are not just limited to said ability alone. Any experienced Nen user will have a hatsu and some very skilled users can have more than one ability as an example I'm going to use myself, I can use 'Shadow Puppetry' and 'String of Fate' plus a few more but that's not important. The only problem with creating insane abilities is aura quantity, memory space, and Nen affinities."

"What are affinities?" He asks in a very confused tone.

"Well 'Nen affinity' refers to a person's natural inclination towards a specific type of aura manipulation, which determines how you can best utilize your Aura, with six primary categories. The categories are as follows Enhancement, Emission, Transmutation, Conjuration, Manipulation, and Specialist; each with unique strengths and limitations depending on the individual's affinity."

"The best way of finding your Nen affinity is the water divination test which you are about to go through." As soon as I say this one of the women comes in with a full glass of water that has a leaf set on top of it.

"Now Nicholas come here, all you need to do is put both hands on each side of the glass holding it and inject your aura into it. The water and leaf will have a reaction that tells your affinity." Nicholas puts his hands on the glass and when he surges his aura into it naturally the water begins to get white particles on the edges.

"Stop," I say excitedly. I had hoped for this I even made both hatsu I've prepared based around conjuration because it's what Nicholas would get on the 'Hisoka Personality Test'. "You are a Conjurer, Conjurers specialize in the ability to create or materialize objects out of their aura, essentially acting like a magician by bringing things into existence that weren't there before; this includes creating weapons, tools, or even living creatures depending on the Nen development and technique."

"Why are you so happy Lucas?" He asks in a surprised tone.

"Well, Nicholas the abilities I made for you are centered around the Conjurer affinity as I figured you would be a conjurer from the way you act." At this Nicholas's surprise grows even greater gaining a shocked expression.

"Okay, so you said abilities does that mean you think I'm already skilled enough to learn more than one Hatsu?"

"No, I have 2 Hatsu I want you to learn but they are relatively simple going off just the basic 4 Nen principles so even an amateur should be able to use them. The first ability I want you to learn will be called 'Thought Stream'. It will in the most basic terms, allow you to access information you want with only your thoughts. It will use Zetsu, Gyo, Ren, and Hatsu as the principles behind it."

"First you will use Gyo and some Zetsu to enter a hyper-focused state of mind focusing all your aura on your brain increasing your mental energy and "amplifying" your ability to scan or search vast amounts of information. Lastly you will release your Nen in a focused burst. This could form a sort of mental "stream" or "link" that allows you to access a chosen information source, whether it's your own memories or even the internet."

"The last thing we need to talk about is Restrictions. For such a complex and useful ability to work with little aura and only basic Nen principles you will need to add some serious restriction power." To this, Nicholas starts to look very confused not understanding why he would need to restrict his ability.

"Why would I restrict my own ability isn't it perfect the way it is?"

"Using restrictions Nen users can also invoke a Vow and Limitation by consciously imposing a restriction upon themselves, known as a Limitation, that forces more conditions on the Nen ability, and abiding by this restriction through forming a Vow to follow this restriction, the ability becomes stronger. In short yes it is a perfect Nen ability for you right now but the aura cost of doing something so complex just by combining a few simple principles and some Aura would be vast; probably more aura than you currently have for just one use."

"Why would adding a restriction to my ability make it more powerful?" he asks even more confused now.

"Well, Nen is an expression of willpower, self-imposed restrictions or stipulations that could endanger the user can increase the power of their Nen abilities, as taking extra risks confirms the user's resolve thereby strengthening their willpower. The bigger the risk you take the stronger your willpower is allowing your ability to get stronger. You can do it with one big restriction that limits how you can use your ability and who you can use it on or a few smaller more manageable limitations."

"Okay, I think I get it now but which type am I going to use and how bad will the restrictions be?"

"Don't worry Nicholas, it wont be too bad. The only restriction is you can only access the internet through a device so if you don't have a device you can only go through your brain and when you access the internet you can only go into files you can normally get into with your clearance level. Neither of these are too bad as almost everybody has at least a phone on them and you have a very high clearance level as a Professional Licensed Hunter."

"Okay, I get that. So what's the second ability you want me to develop?"

"The next ability will be called 'Soul Flare' and it will allow you to quite literally see the Nen affinity and latent potential behind a person. First, you will conjure a flaming ball that's connected to your mind via a link. Anybody in its light will on instinct activate Ren to show you their aura. Their Ren will show up as different colors for different affinities. When their Ren activates the ball of flames will communicate a fraction to you that will be the person's amount of talent. The bigger the denominator the more rare their talent is."

"Oh, That sounds complicated what type of limitations will I have to put on it?"

"Only one limitation is needed and it will be a big one. 'Soul Flare' won't work on anybody who already knows Nen." While I've been explaining the Hatsu I want him to develop I conjured a Nen dry-erase marker and made a visual explanation so he can go back over the concepts even when I leave. I know he won't be able to get even one of these Hatsu down in the next 5 days but he will be able to see this even when I'm gone and it will most assuredly help him to 'create' the abilities.

Right as I finish explaining the Hatsu to Nicholas Evelyn walks in telling announces to me, "Sir all members for the meeting have arrived, they are all waiting in the meeting room."
