HunterxHunter: Reborn With Crazy Potential

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: FirstxDay

The morning sun rises over the horizon, casting long shadows through the trees. Our group continues to trek through the rugged landscape, the air still cold but beginning to warm as the day goes on. Every step feels like an inch closer to Meteor City, yet there's a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that something is not quite right about the journey ahead.

I look over at Ponzu, Hanzo, and Nicholas, their faces set in determination. We've been walking for a while now, and though we've made about 70 miles of progress through the night, the terrain is starting to take a toll on Nicholas.

"Alright, I've got an idea," I say, drawing their attention.

They stop and turn toward me, some confusion flickering in their eyes.

"Time to make things easier," I add with a smirk, holding my hand out in front of me. I concentrate, channeling my Nen into the shadows of the forest floor, drawing on the energy beneath my feet. Slowly, a platform begins to form beneath me made entirely of shadow, solid but flickering like a mirage.

"It's a shadow platform," I explain as the platform grows larger, expanding enough to hold all five of us. "It moves on its own if I focus on it, and it'll carry us through the journey. We'll be able to conserve energy and avoid any further delays. It's not permanent, but it'll get us to Meteor City way faster than walking at this slow pace."

Ponzu tilts her head, watching the shadow platform with interest. "Whoaa," she comments, clearly intrigued by my ability. "But can it handle the rough terrain?"

I grin, stepping onto the platform. "Let's find out."

The moment my foot touches the surface, the platform hums to life, the shadows beneath it solidifying and stretching outward. With a gentle push of my hand, the platform glides forward, smoothly gliding over rocks and uneven ground as if it's been designed specifically for this kind of journey oh wait it is. I can feel the weight of the platform beneath me, but it moves effortlessly, controlled entirely by my concentration and willpower.

"Nice," Hanzo says, clearly impressed. "This should save us a lot of time."

"I can't believe it's working so well," Nicholas mutters, as he steps onto the platform, still amazed. "This is going to be a lot easier."

I nod, focusing on keeping the platform stable as we move forward. Gramps steps on, and soon we're gliding through the forest, our pace quickening considerably.

"You kids can rest, but not for long," Netero's voice calls out from behind us. "This journey is far from over, and if you plan to make it out of Meteor City alive the 3 of you need some real training."

I turn around, my gaze meeting Gramps's, his eyes sharp with that familiar, terrifying focus.

After a long while of rest and sleep, we rise early. The first thing we need to do is create a schedule for the rest of our journey. At this pace, we should reach Meteor City in 2 days.

We argue for a few minutes on the most balanced training schedule so all of us other than the old man can train. We argue until we finally decide on the first 10 hours being me collectively training Hanzo, Nicholas, and Ponzu taking them to the side for personal training when I feel the need. Gramps can interject if he sees that I am teaching them wrong or if he has a better way to teach what I'm trying to have them learn. The last 6 hours are going to be grueling personal training with Gramps but only I get the personal training since they are not on the level that their bodies and minds can handle a full 6-hour shift of the training.

In total, I get 6 hours of training and the other 3 get 10 so that they can catch up decently. We all get plenty of rest as well with even the longest training schedules keeping at least 6 hours for light conversation and socializing and a good 8-hour sleep.

I step forward and take charge. "Alright," I begin, my voice firm but calm. "We start with the basics. Today, we learn Nen."

They all nod, but I can see the uncertainty in their eyes. Hanzo's gaze is sharp, staying silent and serious as usual when we train. Ponzu is the one who seems the most eager, trying to mask it with her usual composure. Nicholas... he looks completely lost. I can already tell he's going to need more time to get it.

"Nen," I say, holding up my hand and focusing my energy. "This is the key to everything. If you don't understand Nen, you won't make it."

I demonstrate, letting my aura expand around me in a visible wave. Their eyes follow every movement, but none of them are quite there yet. I can see the confusion on Nicholas's face as he tries to mimic me, his aura flickering in an unsteady pattern. Ponzu is smoother, but I can tell she's unsure of how far to push it. Hanzo... Hanzo's doing good but he's already learned this so he better be doing good.

I walk over to Nicholas, place a hand on his shoulder, and speak softly. "Close your eyes. Focus on feeling your own energy. Don't force it just let it come to you."

He nods, but I can tell he's still struggling. He doesn't have the experience yet, and I need to be patient. Gramps is watching me closely, his eyes never leaving my movements. I know he's waiting for me to slip up.

They're still working on the basics when I move into the next technique. "Now we'll practice Zetsu. Zetsu is about closing off your aura and conserving energy. You need to learn when to let your power flow, and when to let it rest. Don't hold your aura all the time. Learn to use it wisely or you will get tired very fast."

I demonstrate again, transitioning from Ten to Zetsu, showing them how to draw their aura inwards without losing control of it. I can see Ponzu getting it faster than Nicholas. Her movements are fluid, but I can tell she's still holding back, unsure of the balance. Hanzo's doing it perfectly and after a second starts training In instead to completely mask his aura. Nicholas... he's still not getting it. His aura quantity isn't high in general, so he shouldn't have too much difficulty.

"Nicholas," I say, walking over. "You're going too fast. Focus on feeling the energy, then slowly draw it in."

He nods but still looks exhausted. I keep an eye on the others, moving between them, and giving quick corrections. Gramps stays out of it for now, but I know he's keeping track of everything.

By noon, I call for a break. "Everyone, take five. Eat, drink, rest."

We gather around in a circle and grab what food we've got. I notice that Nicholas is wiping sweat off his brow. Ponzu is more composed, quietly eating and watching the others. Hanzo hasn't said a word since the morning, but I can see the wheels turning in his head. Gramps stays apart, looking at the scenery, probably lost in thought.

After lunch, it's time to dive into more specific training. I take Nicholas aside first. He's calm, as always, but there's something off in his technique. His Nen is too rigid. "You're too focused on control," I tell him. "Relax a little. Let the energy flow naturally."

I spend a few hours helping him loosen up his aura, teaching him to let it move more freely, without so much restraint. It's tough, but I can see him starting to improve. He gets it faster than I thought.

Next, I focus on Ponzu. She's not struggling as much as Nicholas, but she's holding herself back. Her Nen could be sharper, more precise. I show her how to concentrate her energy on a specific target. "Think of it like aiming a weapon," I explain. "You need precision. Focus on a point, and let your Nen follow it."

She nods and practices. She's doing well, but I can tell she's still uncertain about how to channel that energy.

By the time the others are done, Gramps and I start my training. It's time for the real work.

"You've got a long way to go," he says with that grin of his that sends a chill down my spine. "Let's see if you've got what it takes to fight me."

The next few hours are hell. Gramps has me pushing my Ken as hard as I can, forcing me to maintain my aura while withstanding punches from his statue. Sweat pours off me as I struggle to keep my focus. My muscles are sore, and my mind is exhausted, but Gramps isn't letting up. "come on you got to have more than an hour of Ken in you. I'm not even punching that hard," he mutters, pushing me even harder.

We switch to physical conditioning after hours of that torture, running through drills that force me to combine Nen with my body's movements. It's grueling, but I can feel myself growing stronger with every passing minute.
