Hunter X Hunter: The Strongest Assassin Of The Zoldyck Family!

Chapter 131: Chapter 131: It Can't Be Kaizen and Nina!

Nock looked at the two of them intently.

"The news of Carlisle's death has been confirmed," he said gravely. "But don't worry. We will avenge him."

"I need you to tell me everything you know. The sooner we piece this together, the quicker we can find the killer."

Nina's eyes reddened, and she sniffled softly, tears threatening to fall.

Kaizen hesitated for a moment before asking, "Mr. Nock, where is Carlisle's body? Can we see it?"

"There's nothing left to see."

Nock shook his head.

"Carlisle's body has disappeared. Either the killer took it, or it's been destroyed. We might never find it."

He turned to Kaizen and added, "Kaizen, Nina's state of mind isn't stable right now. Why don't you start by telling me what you know?"

Kaizen nodded solemnly.

"When I reached the 200th floor of Heavens Arena, I quickly became a target for other contenders. Carlisle offered me guidance, which helped me adapt. Because we lived next door to each other, I got to know Nina—she's close to my age. We became friends pretty quickly."

Kaizen glanced at Nina before continuing.

"After a sudden loss, Carlisle left Heavens Arena. Before he did, he entrusted Nina to me and asked me to look out for her. That's why Nina moved in with me."

Kaizen sighed, his tone darkening.

"I was out for a while recently and just got back. Carlisle came to see Nina many times while I was gone. We had plans to meet last night, but when I called him, he didn't answer. That's when I felt something was wrong."

He clenched his fists.

"I didn't expect things to turn out like this."

Nock turned to Nina.

"Nina, do you know what Carlisle was working on?"

Nina lowered her head, silent for a long moment, before speaking softly.

"My father only told me to focus on my training, to aim for the 200th floor and become a Floor Master someday. That was his dream. Since he couldn't achieve it, he wanted me to make it happen for him."

She sniffed, her voice trembling.

"He never talked much about his own plans. He told me not to worry and to focus on training. But… I often heard someone else's voice when he called me. It sounded like a woman."

Nock's eyes narrowed.

"A woman?"

Nina nodded faintly.

"Yes, it sounded like it."

Nock sighed and stood.

"Alright. I'll do everything I can to find the killer. In the meantime, stay here in Heavens Arena. It's safer that way. Don't leave under any circumstances—the murderer might still be targeting you."

He handed them his card.

"If you remember anything else, contact me immediately. My number's on there."

With that, Nock left.

Kaizen turned to Nina, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder as she broke into tears.

Nock paused at a shadowy corner near their suite, his expression grim as he stared at the closed door.

"Those two don't seem like they're hiding anything," he muttered under his breath. "Still, something feels off."

Elsewhere, at the Wilhelm Family Estate

Nock entered the grand hall, bowing his head slightly to the two figures seated before him.

"Lady Greed, Lady Lust."

Greed gave a faint nod.

"What did you find?"

"Nothing unusual," Nock reported. "Carlisle's daughter and that boy, Kaizen, are weaklings. Neither could stand up to Gluttony or Laziness, let alone Carlisle himself."

"But I'll admit, Carlisle trained his daughter well. If she continues to grow, she might surpass him someday."

Greed drummed her fingers on the table, her voice cold.

"Interesting. I just received some information about Carlisle's abilities. His Nen technique, Synthetic Beast, allowed him to fuse human and non-human creatures into a single entity—completely loyal to him."

Nock's brow furrowed as Greed continued.

"It's similar to a Nen Beast but far more powerful. However, the ability has a fatal drawback: one of the materials must be someone with a strong emotional bond to Carlisle—his wife, his parents…"

Greed leaned forward, his gaze sharp.

"It's highly likely he intended to use his daughter as a material for his next synthetic beast."

Lust frowned.

"That doesn't add up. Why would Carlisle train Nina so carefully if he planned to sacrifice her?"

"Exactly," Nock agreed. "And if Carlisle was desperate, why wouldn't he have taken her with him last time?"

The three of them fell silent for a moment before Nock added, "Nina mentioned hearing a woman's voice during one of her calls with Carlisle. Could this woman be a lover? If so, she might meet the requirements for Carlisle's ability."

Greed's lips curled into a smirk.

"Now that would make sense. It would explain why Nina was spared."

Lust crossed her arms, her expression thoughtful.

"At this point, the likelihood of Nina or Kaizen being involved is slim. It's more probable that they're just pawns caught in the middle—or that someone else is using them to throw us off."

Nock nodded.

"I'll keep an eye on them, just in case."
