Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Who Is Carlisle's Daughter?
"Master Gluttony and Master Laziness left the Dojo and headed toward the vicinity of Heavens Arena.
"From what we gathered, it seems they were going to meet someone."
"That person's name is Carlisle."
"This was a private matter between the two Masters, so we didn't intervene. But after waiting a long time without their return, I sent someone to check the situation."
"We discovered that both of them are missing."
"There were signs of a battle at the scene."
"Nearby residents reported witnessing some of the fight, but all the surveillance footage has been wiped."
"Carlisle is missing as well."
Greed's brows furrowed. "The surveillance footage is gone? If there are witnesses, didn't they see who Gluttony and Laziness were fighting? Can we have someone sketch the assailants?"
Noke shook his head. "No, Lady Greed."
"You mean no one saw their opponents? Explain."
Noke hesitated before answering, "None of the witnesses reported seeing anyone fighting the two Masters."
Greed's eyes narrowed sharply. "You're certain? Have you ensured those witnesses have no ties to the culprits? No one would risk their lives to protect such information."
"Yes, Lady Greed. We've confirmed they're uninvolved."
"Is there anything else?"
"That's all we've uncovered."
Greed turned, intending to consult Lust, but realized she had disappeared.
Not far away, muffled voices came from another room. Greed's expression darkened as she walked toward the source of the noise.
"Gluttony and Laziness are missing, possibly dead, and this is how she spends her time?"
Reaching the door, Greed knocked firmly.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A moment later, Lust opened the door, clearly irritated. Her gaze softened into a mocking smile. "Care to join?"
Greed stared at her impassively. "Not interested."
He stepped back. "Gluttony and Laziness are likely dead. Orders from above demand we find their killer and take revenge. Let's discuss this."
Lust sighed, but her smirk faded as she followed Greed into the conference room. She glanced back, whispering to someone,
"Wait here—I'll come back for you later."
Once seated in the conference room, Nock entered to deliver his report.
Greed began, "Based on what Nock uncovered, Gluttony and Laziness are likely dead. Their killers remain unidentified, and all surveillance footage has been erased. However, it's clear the attackers were Nen users. The real question lies in their abilities."
He paused. "I have two theories."
"First, the attackers might be someone capable of using aura beasts. Aura beasts are invisible to normal people, which could explain why the witnesses saw nothing."
"Second, the attackers might possess stealth Nen abilities."
Lust tapped the table. "It's unlikely to be the second case. If the attackers relied on stealth, they wouldn't leave such visible signs of a struggle. This leaves the first theory, or possibly a third: the use of hallucination-based Nen.
"However, if their hallucinatory powers were strong enough to deceive Gluttony and Laziness, it wouldn't have resulted in such a destructive battle."
Greed nodded. "So, hallucination abilities would only affect ordinary people. Either way, the killers erased their tracks too thoroughly for us to follow. We'll need to investigate their motives instead."
Lust turned to Nock. "Does the Shen Dojo have any connections to powerful individuals or groups?"
Nock shook his head. "No, the dojo doesn't have significant backers, and their allies aren't strong enough to take down Masters Gluttony and Laziness."
"What about Carlisle?" Greed asked.
"Lady Greed, we don't have much information about Carlisle."
Lust pulled out her phone. "I'll contact Carlisle's master."
After a brief call, Lust hung up and faced the others.
"Carlisle's master said Carlisle came to Heavens Arena to search for his daughter. He sought Gluttony's help after running into some trouble he couldn't handle alone."
"Did they mention anything about Carlisle's daughter?" Greed asked.
"No specifics. She's somewhere near Heavens Arena, but Carlisle didn't want anyone else to know the details."
Lust leaned back. "Honestly, I doubt this has much to do with Carlisle. He's not strong enough to provoke enemies capable of killing Gluttony and Laziness. It's more likely the killers are tied to the Shen dojo or other underworld figures watching us."
Just then, Greed received a notification. His expression darkened as he read it.
"What is it?" Lust asked.
"A bounty has been placed on Gluttony and Laziness. It was posted to an assassin network, accepted, and completed. The client paid two billion Jenny."
Lust's eyes narrowed. "A hitman? For only two billion?"
"Only one billion per target," Greed replied bitterly. "Is that all we're worth to them?"
Lust sneered. "If this assassin is willing to target Gluttony and Laziness, they might come for the rest of us as well. Our bounties are the same."
Greed turned to Nock. "Investigate Carlisle's daughter. Find out everything you can."
"Yes, Lady Greed."
Then, Greed addressed Lust. "If the killer is targeting all seven of us, we'll call the others here. Whoever this assassin or their client is, they'll pay for this."
