Vol. 1 Chapter 3.6 - The Dog and Wolf's Time (1.6)
[TL/N: Soooo… I made a HUUUUGEEE mistake. It seems like Ian is not Ian. His name is Yi-eon (이언). I thought he was a foreigner, so I translated his name as Ian (이언). Turns out, he’s not. HAHAHAhahaha… I’M SORRYYYY!!! m(_ _;)m]
There were various ways to draw out Si-wol’s true feelings. If Yi-eon threatened and forced him like he did when they first met, the timid Si-wol would spill his inner thoughts without hesitation. However, behind those actions, there would always be consequences to follow.
‘If I intimidate him here, he’ll definitely shrink even more than he is now.’
Living under the same roof without any conflict with this timid crybaby felt like walking on eggshells to Yi-eon. Even the slightest movement of his arms startled Si-wol and made him hold his breath.
That would have been manageable if not for one thing: Whenever Si-wol physically recoiled from him, it inexplicably dampened his mood.
‘It’s understandable, but…’
Given that vampires were natural enemies of hunters, Si-wol’s fear was justified. Yet at some point, Yi-eon began wishing he wouldn’t tremble so much when looking at him.
‘Yes, just like back then.’
As he gripped Si-wol’s chin and tilted his face up towards him, Yi-eon recalled the memory of that same expression contorted with pleasure beneath him. His eyes had held both pleading and desire then. Just making eye contact with him used to make his body ache, just like how he was swept away by his unintentional allure…
“Be careful.” It was unclear whether Yi-eon’s words were directed at himself or Si-wol. “Don’t give yourself away and end up crying.”
“I won’t be discovered, and I won’t cry…”
“You were sobbing uncontrollably just last night, so you can’t say that.”
“
Eut
! T-That…! It’s because you kept teasing me…”
“But I saw you rushing to the bathroom as soon as you tasted my blood. How could I resist teasing you about it?”
“
Hic
! L-Liar! You promised not to bring up that incident again!” Si-wol’s face instantly flushed red, and he sputtered indignantly.
Yi-eon looked down at him with an unwitting smile spreading across his face.
“Lee Si-wol.”
“…What?
Aht
, no. Yes?” Initially pouting in annoyance from Yi-eon’s teasing, Si-wol inadvertently protested before hastily catching himself. As Yi-eon gently released Si-wol’s chin, he tenderly brushed away the tears reddening Si-wol’s eyes.
“I’m even more remarkable than whatever worst-case scenario you’re imagining.”
“Huh? Why are you suddenly boasting about yourself—”
“Don’t worry.”
“…..”
“At least today isn’t your last day on earth.”
Si-wol’s trembling subsided slightly at Yi-eon’s words. His round eyes glistened faintly. Despite all the talk of death and killing, why did he feel oddly comforted by it all? Si-wol rubbed his eyes where Yi-eon had touched them as he watched him leave the apartment.

As soon as Yi-eon closed the door behind him, his phone rang right on cue. He answered immediately without checking who was calling, already knowing the identity of the caller.
—Hello. This is Go Yeongho from Korea’s headquarters, coordinating logistics for the raid. May I speak with Hunter-nim?
“Yes, that’s me. Do you have what I asked for?”
—As you requested earlier, I’ve found some uninhabited hunting grounds for you. I’ll send over the exact location and maps shortly.
“You did well.”
—Thank you. Then we’ll see you back at headquarters later.
“Hold on. Isn’t there more to discuss?”
—Ah, apologies! As per your instructions, everything has been handled discreetly. Your whereabouts will remain confidential until you return to headquarters.
“As long as the director doesn’t find out. If anyone discovers my location, they might try to bother me by sending other hunters after me.”
—That’s because you’re such a valuable asset to us, Hunter-nim.
“Enough about that. There should be two or three more requests coming up, so please have things ready ahead of time.”
—Yes, sir. Understood. Please take care.
Right after hanging up, he received a text message with the location. Yi-eon’s gaze turned icy as he committed it to memory. It reminded him of when he’d asked Agent Go Yeongho to find some hunting grounds for him previously. The agent had been taken aback by his request, thinking Yi-eon meant somewhere to bury vampires instead of using it for hunting.
‘That was quite unexpected.’
Yi-eon shook his head and headed out. Setting aside other matters, he needed to personally inspect the hunting ground and memorize the area. In case a vampire managed to escape from his grasp, he would need to track it down and finish it off.
Honestly, this whole process was rather bothersome. Normally, he could just kill the vampire on the spot and dispose of its body at the landfill, but now he had to transport it alive to a designated hunting grounds before killing it.
Moreover, to check the hunting ground, he even had to leave Si-wol, who might try to escape, alone. It didn’t bother him much since the fearful and weak vampire wouldn’t get far even if he tried fleeing. It would merely be a futile display of defiance.
Despite these inconveniences, Yi-eon voluntarily took on this bothersome task.
‘It’s better than listening to him sobbing uncontrollably.’
Although Yi-eon couldn’t pinpoint exactly why he was willing to endure such trouble, it seemed better than having Si-wol cry from the shock of witnessing the hunting scene.
Suddenly, he recalled how last night, after drinking his blood, Si-wol dashed to the bathroom as if struck by lightning due to his unexpected arousal.
「 A cuckoo. 」
「What? Me?! Cu… cuckoo?」
Si-wol’s mouth hung agape, seemingly offended by his new nickname, prompting Yi-eon to tease him further.
「Your eyes are red. Do you have a habit of crying while cumming?」
「
Eut
! D-Don’t make fun of me… It already scares me enough not being able to control my body…」
「There’s nothing to be scared of. If it feels like your dick might get hurt because you can’t finish like last time, I can help you out.」
Yi-eon’s teasing left Si-wol’s face flushed and lips pursed. His eyes narrowed as if searching for a retort but couldn’t find one. Yi-eon’s gaze softened at this adorable sight.
Finally, with tears welling up from frustration, Si-wol managed to speak.
「Stop teasing me already.
Heu
. …I’m going to sleep with my back turned to you tonight.」
「What? Your back? Are you trying to be funny now? Don’t take it personally, but your attempts at humor just make me laugh even more.」
「It’s not meant to be funny! You said before that when I sleep with my back turned, I look c-completely defenseless, didn’t you?! Y-You were trying to scare me…」
「I did?」
「You might have fooled me then, but now I can tell when you’re joking or serious, Yi-eon-
ssi
. So, don’t think you’ll trick me again.」
Si-wol scowled fiercely as he issued his warning. However, to Yi-eon, it merely looked like a kitten feigning toughness while crying.
‘Did I really say something to frighten Lee Si-wol?’
Yi-eon pondered whether he had indeed said such words to Si-wol before. He likely mentioned it while Si-wol was curled up and sleeping soundly against his back. It wasn’t intended as a threat. However, Si-wol might have perceived his vulnerability as implying that Yi-eon could kill him at any moment.
Considering Si-wol’s personality, it made sense for him to think that way. But his act of defiance… threatening to turn his back and sleep elsewhere—it seemed too trivial, laughable, feeble, pitiful, yet somehow… adorable…
‘…Adorable?’
Yi-eon quickly suppressed the sentiment blossoming within him and furrowed his brow.
‘…Did I just think Lee Si-wol is adorable?’
He narrowed his eyes, replaying images of Si-wol in his mind.
He recalled how Si-wol would tear up and sniffle if Yi-eon raised his voice or glared at him. He remembered how Si-wol would curl himself into a ball, keenly observing Yi-eon’s mood whenever he pretended to be menacing. Yi-eon also thought about how startled Si-wol got with just a gentle tap on the shoulder, eyes wide open in surprise. Despite all that, Si-wol never held back from blurting out whatever came to his mind without a filter. And when treated kindly, even just a little, Si-wol quickly perked up, his small head buzzing with ideas.
Honestly, it was adorable. However, Yi-eon didn’t want to admit it.
‘Me… admiring a mere mosquito?’
It was unthinkable for a hunter to have positive feelings toward a vampire. Ever since their last encounter, Yi-eon couldn’t help but find Si-wol somewhat ironic, which was quite problematic.
‘I mean, sure. His antics can be amusing due to his fearfulness and quirky nature, so I might’ve called him cute once or twice.’
Si-wol was like a newborn kitten, constantly catching his attention with his lively antics. He simply borrowed words to describe those fleeting moments.
‘It’s pointless thinking about this.’
Yi-eon firmly pressed his lips together and abruptly cut off his thoughts. As a pragmatist, he didn’t waste time on uncertainties. There was no need to overthink Si-wol since he wasn’t going to kill him anytime soon anyway. Instead, he wanted to focus on the pleasure of provoking his reactions.
