Chapter 126: Chapter 125 - The Dark Side of the Magical World 03.
[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
London.
...
...
Weeks had passed since Snape returned to his home and hadn't left, keeping himself training constantly, focusing solely on improving his spells and creating new ones. Since returning to Hogwarts, Snape had created numerous new spells. Despite specializing in close-combat fighting rather than relying on advanced technology when he was a guardian, he saw the potential in the magic he gained after becoming Severus Snape in this world. He also noticed a lack of truly useful spells available, which led to his development of new magical possibilities.
The original Snape had already created spells, but the current one not only retained the former's knowledge but also gained access to additional knowledge from the restricted section and a few ancient books from Salazar... combining this with a guardian's knowledge, the entire magical world—not only in England but worldwide—would be astounded by the number of spells Snape was creating.
He hadn't just created a new field of study; he was also deeply interested in spatial magic, attempting to improve teleportation spells even further. Snape aimed to reach a level where he would no longer need Floo powder to travel, able to go anywhere he had been before, which would be immensely useful.
He continued using spells nonstop, but he had something to block this from being detected by other wizards. After all, how was the Ministry not detecting magic being used by a Hogwarts student in that location? This happened because Steve Vujin had given him an amulet during their first meeting, saying it was a gift.
Snape tested the amulet to verify its authenticity before going to the Black residence, and upon realizing no auror came after him following the use of a slightly heavy spell like Incendio, he noticed the object truly worked. Since then, he had been using magic constantly, making full use of every spell he could.
This morning, he had focused on physical training, and after an intense workout on his property, he left his house's yard, sweaty, and entered the house with a towel over his shoulders, still shirtless, wiping the sweat away. His gaze fell upon a pile of letters on the table in the living room. He had collected them at dawn before training, and now he approached them to read the first few. Since the vast majority of people didn't know his address, the letters were sent to a type of magical post office, from which he retrieved them once a week—this being the only means of communication allowed, except for Steve and Hogwarts.
There were letters from Clarisse, reminding him to invite her to spend Christmas with him and his family. There were letters from Lucinda, wanting to meet up, asking him to visit one of her father's stores to see her. There were letters from Lily, wanting to know where he was and insisting on talking to him. There were letters from Pandora, asking how his holidays were going and sharing a bit about hers. There were letters from Bellatrix, demanding he undergo some training before the next year, also wanting to know where he was.
But she wasn't the only Black; Astraea also sent letters, mentioning a few things he had requested. Since the Black family was willing to assist him, he demanded they secure a house-elf to help in his shop, and Astraea managed to contact people from outside the country, obtaining an elf for 20,000 Galleons—a price cheaper than what he had paid for Dobby. He still needed another house-elf but wanted to keep this secret, planning, therefore, to acquire another one abroad to keep discreetly in his current house.
There were also letters with updates on the sick individuals in relation to his sword. They were almost reaching the desired level in their task, with everyone undergoing quick training to catch up to him. Meanwhile, the wizards saw the Gringotts sick becoming increasingly unwilling to assist him while some of them were in the forges set up within the bank.
However, one particular letter caught his attention. Not that he hadn't already received similar letters; as an enemy of many families, he had started receiving multiple threats, with demands to reveal his location, as no one could track him. Some letters even threatened to capture his father, which truly made Snape scoff without a hint of concern.
More recently, the threats had begun to intensify. He learned that his old house had nearly caught fire due to a sudden attack, and that his father, in desperation, managed to call the fire department in time. Some aurors investigated and confirmed that magic had been involved.
However, this particular letter claimed they had his father as a hostage and demanded that he surrender at a specific address. He felt like laughing at this and tossed the letter aside.
As he picked up the next one, he noticed it was from Astraea again, mentioning she wanted to meet with him. Snape was surprised by this, and after thinking it over, he decided to go out that very day. He quickly dressed in simple formal attire, locked up the house, and left.
He was ready as he stepped out, disappearing after locking the door. Wearing a black overcoat that matched the rest of his clothes, he reappeared in the magical world via Floo powder, making it untraceable. He greeted the keeper of the fireplace hub, where several fireplaces were available for use for a fee, which Snape paid before leaving the place and stepping into Diagon Alley.
He felt several eyes on him, even inside the fireplace shop, so he wanted to gather some information.
He mingled with the crowd, stopping at a few shops along the way, looking over products and seeing if anything caught his attention.
"He's here..." one of the men following him whispered.
"Good... we need to find a way to get him out of here and capture him..." his companion murmured, both of them blending into the crowd with ordinary clothing instead of the usual black attire.
"What should we do?" another asked.
"We'll create some sort of distraction... that way we can grab him," replied the companion.
"Here?" he muttered, somewhat surprised.
"What do you expect? That we can follow him all day like the others? Remember, our master already sent many men after him, but no one succeeded. If we manage to capture him, we'll make history," the man said, and the other nodded in agreement.
"..." The other fell silent before nodding again, then glanced back at four more wizards disguised behind them. With a hand signal, they all understood, stepping out of their hiding places, blending in as regular people while discreetly drawing their wands.
Snape was looking over some books when he sensed movement, his instincts alerting him that he was about to be attacked, though he remained there, seemingly unbothered.
The men felt confident seeing him so distracted, looking at the books in the display window. "Alright, on my signal," one of them said, and the others nodded, approaching carefully, ready to attack. But just as they drew near and took their positions, the leader gave the signal.
A woman passing by with a rabbit as her pet noticed the group of wizards brandishing their wands and immediately screamed, "AHHH!" Her scream drew everyone's attention, but the disguised wizards no longer cared, thrusting their wands forward and unleashing their spells.
And so, five wands fired simultaneously, aiming at the shop. In that instant, time seemed to slow down as everyone's eyes widened, faces frozen in shock, mouths opening in cries of fear and surprise, horrified by a magical attack in broad daylight.
Snape turned as well, analyzing the situation in slow motion. One of the spells was a paralysis curse, while the others were clearly offensive. He observed the magical blasts hurtling toward him, still in slow motion.
Snape shifted his body to a position where he wouldn't be affected by the attack, letting the paralysis spell hit him while using magic to disguise his face. After all, he didn't want his image and name splashed across the paper as "missing" or "kidnapped" for those witnessing the scene.
In the next moment, all the spells collided with the shop's glass, followed by screams and gasps echoing throughout Diagon Alley. The sound of explosions reverberated through the air as the entire shopfront shattered. A student lay sprawled on the ground.
"Quick, we need to grab him and disappear from here," one of the attacking wizards said, as some moved closer to Snape, while others pointed their wands at anyone who tried to intervene around the shop. People, fearful, also drew their wands, ready to defend themselves in case they, too, were attacked.
"Hey! What are you doing?" shouted some bystanders, a mix of fear and anger in their voices as they watched the wizards surrounding the student lying on the ground, his face obscured.
"Stay out of this! We're serving the Dark Lord!" declared one of the wizards, even though it wasn't true. He knew it would heighten people's fear, causing them to hesitate and avoid interfering. And with that, they vanished, leaving the scene before anyone could do anything.
The aurors arrived some time later, but it was already too late. They attempted to trace the kidnappers through the Apparition spell, but these wizards were highly skilled.
Meanwhile, in a house deep within a forest, the kidnappers reappeared, with a young man lying on the floor, eyes closed.
"We did it," one of them said, looking on with satisfaction.
"Looks like you were right! We managed to do something no one else could... we got the brat," another said, a malicious smile on his face.
"Yes, now we can inform our lady. Maybe she won't even need to go through with her plan now that we've got the boy," a third commented, and the others nodded.
Everything seemed perfect for them, having achieved their goal—until they heard Snape's voice, who was supposedly incapacitated by the spell. Snape quickly opened his eyes and observed them, still lying on the floor.
"What does your lady plan to do? This sounds like rather interesting information..." he said with a cold expression.
All of them turned, shocked to see the boy now sitting up, as each quickly raised their wands toward him.
"Is he awake?" one of them murmured in disbelief. They were sure that, even if some of the spells had missed, the paralysis curse had struck him.
But Snape stood up calmly, facing the six men as they prepared to launch another attack.
"It doesn't matter now, let's paralyze him again," one of the kidnappers said, casting another paralysis spell at Snape without warning to knock him down again and secure him.
However, Snape was no longer in the same spot; the spell passed through empty air. The wizard barely had time to react or understand what had happened before his neck was slashed by a blade. The others turned quickly, horrified, to see Snape holding a dagger as they stared at their fallen comrade's body.
"You seem to misunderstand," Snape said calmly, looking at each of them with contempt as he saw the surprise and fear in all five remaining wizards. "You didn't kidnap me. I simply allowed you to take me because you're a convenient source of information. I want to know what's really going on, who your lady is, and what she's planning, as you mentioned," he spoke with an eerie calmness.
He took a step forward, unfazed by the body lying at his feet.
"Now, let's begin," he continued in a chilling tone. "I want to know what the great families are planning for me, as it seems they're all acting together." The air around Snape grew darker, and his blue eyes shone with a frightening intensity. A regal aura emanated from him, to the terror of the five wizards, none of whom understood what was unfolding before them.
