HP: I Can Control Lightning!

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Hogwarts

Anduin, feeling that the change in weight wasn't causing him to feel particularly fatigued, knew something was off. Having practiced physical training regularly, he understood that if his muscles didn't feel any strain or exhaustion, it likely meant he wasn't doing the exercise correctly.

Much like when training muscles, if there's no sense of tearing or fatigue, it indicates the body isn't being pushed hard enough. Anduin quickly decided to adjust his approach. Instead of focusing purely on weight, he shifted to practicing time-lapse training, using his "mind power" to keep objects floating for as long as possible.

This approach proved effective. At first, he could only manage to hold an object up for five minutes before dizziness would set in, but he was cautious not to push himself too hard, as he didn't fully understand his abilities yet. After a day of rest, his spirit seemed unaffected, so he dedicated himself to practicing every night.

After more than a year of steady training, Anduin had improved significantly. He was now able to keep objects floating for nearly 40 minutes.

One evening, as he controlled a pair of dumbbells, they floated in the air, revolving around him like planets orbiting the sun. He moved them through various trajectories—sometimes tracing a figure-eight, other times flipping them up and down.

After a while, Anduin started to feel a bit mentally fatigued. Recognizing that he had reached his limit, he gently returned the dumbbells to their original position and stretched his body, letting out a satisfied sigh. "It's getting easier and easier to control. I wonder when I'll be able to do something like those flying swordfighters in novels."

Unbeknownst to Anduin, while he was lost in his thoughts, an owl was making its way from the north of England to deliver a letter to the Ellens Church Welfare Home in London.

The next morning, at 6 AM, the orphanage was quiet. Anduin opened his room's window and took a deep breath. He changed into his usual workout clothes, walked to the orphanage's courtyard, and stretched before performing a set of punching exercises.

"Ahh..." Anduin let out a long sigh of relief as sweat began to bead on his skin. He completed his routine and walked toward the cafeteria, as usual.

"Good morning, Mother Triss. I can already smell that pumpkin porridge from a mile away," he greeted, smiling at the elderly nun preparing breakfast.

"Good morning, Anduin. You're up early as always. If the other children were as responsible as you, I'd be so relieved," Mother Triss said, handing him a bowl of porridge.

Anduin smiled, accepting the breakfast. He didn't respond to her comment. If he hadn't had the soul of an adult in this young body, he'd probably be more difficult to handle than the other children.

After a quick breakfast and a thank you, Anduin stood up and made his way back to his room.

However, when he opened the door, something seemed off. A brown owl had flown into his room and was now perched on his desk, placing a letter on the surface with precise care. Once it had finished its task, the owl flew over to the windowsill and silently observed Anduin.

The sight struck Anduin as strange. He closed the door, walked over to the desk, and picked up the letter. There was no stamp, only a line of words written in emerald green ink across the envelope:

Shaftesbury Street, Ellens Church Welfare Home, Mr. Anduin Wilson

Turning the envelope over, he noticed a coat of arms on the back. In the center of the shield was a large "H", flanked by a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake.

"This is unusual," Anduin thought, as he carefully opened the letter and read its contents.

"Wait... Could this be the world of Harry Potter?" Anduin stared at the letter in disbelief. He never imagined he would end up in a magical world. Even though he had awakened his powers, he thought of them as mere "special abilities."

However, as the truth settled in, Anduin was taken aback. He had never been a Harry Potter fan, and had only a vague recollection of the names like "Dumbledore," "Harry Potter," and "Voldemort." The world of wizards had always seemed like something out of a novel to him, and he hadn't paid much attention to it.

"But wait..." Anduin furrowed his brow. "This doesn't add up." Though his memories from his previous life were somewhat blurred after his reincarnation, he did recall that Harry Potter—the series—had gained popularity in the 90s. But, here he was, in 1980!

Anduin began to feel the weight of the situation. It wasn't just that he had magical abilities, but that they were part of a much bigger world he had no experience with. The fact that he was now in this strange timeline—before the events he knew—was unsettling.

"So, I thought I'd have supernatural powers, but instead, I find myself surrounded by actual magic users," Anduin muttered to himself. He could only shake his head in disbelief. At least his adult soul kept him grounded, and after taking a few deep breaths, he tried to calm himself.

As he finished reading the letter, he stroked his chin thoughtfully and glanced at the owl still perched on his windowsill. "Are you waiting for a reply? I suppose I don't have a proper pet to entertain you."

The owl just blinked slowly, staring at him with an eerie, deadpan look.

"Alright, I'll write a reply," Anduin sighed, rolling his eyes. He picked up the pen and paper on his desk and began drafting his response. He expressed his excitement to attend Hogwarts, yet also conveyed his concerns about being unfamiliar with the wizarding world and asked if there was any assistance he could receive in preparing for his new life as a student.
