Chapter 29: Metamorphmagus
"Master, when will you destroy the locket?" Kreacher asked, his tone having shifted from calling Dudley 'Mudblood' to 'sir' and now 'master.'
"I need certain ingredients to destroy it," replied Dudley.
"Master, let me find the ingredients for you," Kreacher offered.
"Sure, I need basilisk venom," said Dudley.
"But that creature has been extinct, and no one breeds it anymore," replied Kreacher.
"Don't worry, there's a basilisk corpse at Hogwarts," revealed Dudley.
"How?" Kreacher said in disbelief.
"My cousin, Harry Potter, killed it during his second year," Dudley smiled.
Kreacher's wide eyes grew even wider with shock.
"You must be surprised, right, Kreacher?"
"Yes, I didn't know that a student could defeat a basilisk," Kreacher exclaimed.
"Hahaha, that's why he's the Boy Who Lived," Dudley laughed. "First the Dark Lord, then a basilisk."
Dudley suddenly became curious and decided to ask Kreacher if he knew the true nature of the locket.
"Kreacher, do you know why your master wanted you to destroy this locket?" Dudley inquired.
"My master said it needed to be destroyed to kill the Dark Lord," Kreacher revealed.
"That's true, but there's more than one locket," Dudley explained.
"What? You mean there's more than one?" Kreacher was astonished.
"Regulus was a great man. When he saw and heard about this locket, he immediately understood the dark magic within it," Dudley continued.
"Yes, Master Regulus was a great wizard," Kreacher beamed with pride.
"You remember, I told you my cousin defeated a basilisk during our second year?" Dudley asked.
"Yes, I remember," Kreacher replied.
"Well, this thing is actually a Horcrux," Dudley revealed.
"A Horcrux... yes, I remember my master mumbling that word," Kreacher agreed.
"That means there are more than one. There are seven Horcruxes that need to be destroyed before we can kill the Dark Lord," Dudley said, watching Kreacher digest this new information.
"Seven?" Kreacher exclaimed.
"Yes, and two have already been found. There are five more Horcruxes that we need to locate," Dudley moved closer, extending his hand. "Will you work with me until all seven Horcruxes are found and destroyed? Or do you just want to destroy this one?"
"I... I..." Kreacher remembered his master before he died.
"Kreacher, I've found the way to destroy the Dark Lord," Regulus had said.
"Master," Kreacher had replied, "is this locket the key to destroying him?"
"Yes, it's a Horcrux," Regulus confirmed.
"If Master wishes, let Kreacher drink the water again," Kreacher had eagerly offered, happy to help Regulus, unlike the time he was forced by Voldemort.
"No, Kreacher, I will drink it, and you must take this locket," Regulus had ordered.
"Kreacher?" Dudley said, shaking him gently, snapping him out of his memories.
"Sorry, Master, I was just remembering," Kreacher apologized. "I will follow you until all the Horcruxes are found and destroyed. My master only found one, and I don't want his sacrifice to be in vain."
Confession Kreacher...
"Master, I need to tell you something about the Malfoy family," said Kreacher.
"What's wrong with the Malfoys?" asked Dudley.
"I went to Lady Narcissa Malfoy and offered her my help," Kreacher confessed.
"Huh?" Dudley snapped, shocked by the revelation. "Why would you do that?"
"It was because of Master Sirius. He... he..." Kreacher began, but Dudley cut him off before he could finish.
"Alright, I understand. So, what did you offer her?" Dudley asked.
"They are targeting Harry Potter, and they also asked me to spy on the Order's meetings. But I couldn't pass any information to them because Master Sirius prevented me from overhearing or being near the meetings in this house," explained Kreacher.
"Okay," Dudley responded. "What do they want with Harry Potter?"
"They want to lure him into the Department of Mysteries, and they asked me to be on standby," said Kreacher.
"Huh, does Sirius know about this?" Dudley asked, an obvious question.
"No, because he never asked about what Kreacher was doing," replied Kreacher.
"Do you still have any connection to Lady Malfoy? I mean, a magical connection with her?" asked Dudley.
"No, after she married Lucius Malfoy, all magical connections were severed," Kreacher revealed.
"Good to know. That woman no longer has any authority over you," said Dudley.
Metamorphmagus...
The celebration went well, and Dudley gained a trusted ally. Sirius invited them again to his house, this time including Dudley's parents, and he planned to ask the Secret Keeper, Dumbledore, for the house address.
That night, Dudley opened his briefcase and planned to exercise because of his large, overly fat body. So he seize the opportunity using the space inside the briefcase and he went for a jog, continuing his exercise routine in the morning and night.
Dudley was determined to get fit before his fifth year begin. There were many things that might happen during this year, like the Department of Mysteries.
Even worse, due to the ripple effect of his transmigration, his knowledge from the books had become less reliable. The one thing he did know was that he needed to find the ring before Dumbledore could be trapped and poisoned by it in his sixth year.
After completing the well-known routine of 100 push-ups, 100 squats, and a 10 km run, Dudley suddenly remembered a feature he hadn't used before.
"Activate Gamer Mode," Dudley commanded. He then browsed through his gamer status, trying to adjust something.
'Finally, I found it,' Dudley's eyes widened as he saw the option to edit his character. 'Didn't the system upgrade its function from "Edit Character" to "Metamorphmagus"?'
So, Dudley began experimenting, trying to remove the excess weight from his body.
120 Kg -> 110 Kg
Confirm! Yes.
'Gamer mode deactivate,' Dudley commanded in his mind.
After that, he went to his closet, searching for something. Soon, he found what he was looking for—a full-body mirror and a weight scale.
He placed the scale on the floor and stepped on it. The needle showed that his weight had decreased from 120 kg to 110 kg.
"It works!" Dudley wanted to cry. This is what everyone dreamed of. If women had this edit character feature they would be ecstatic, since they generally care more about their weight than others.
"System, if I edit my body using Character Edit, will the changes wear off or lose effectiveness?" Dudley asked.
[No, using the 'Edit Character' option will result in permanent changes]
[Using 'Metamorphmagus' lasts for 3 hours before it wears off]
[The host has access to both abilities 'Edit Character' and 'Metamorphmagus']
