Chapter 148: Bizzaro Combat [4]
-VWHOOSH!
As a strange, and mysterious book fluttered open on its own in mid aur, three massive Spears of fire appeared behind Deandra's back. Don's wind barricade was raging and undiscriminating, slashing through everything that dared to cross into its offensive region.
The gales slashed through my sleeves and bit into my skin. Yhey whispered past my face and ears like moaning blades.
Deandra raised her right hand and one of the three massive spears of boiling flames moved over her right shoulder, pointing forward rather than above any longer. The fire remained unaffected by the raging winds and still blistered through the air with a blast of heat into its surroundings.
The bright red halo and glow in Deandra's eyes grew in intensity as she contorted her expression.
And then,
"Pierce Through."
Deandra swept her hand in a casual movement and the massive spear of fire moved at an insane speed.
-Bang!
It tore through the air, leaving streaks and bolts of fires in its wake. Experience tales at My Virtual Library Empire
The immolating fire spear easily tore through Don's defense, bypassing the wall of sharpened winds as it easy as anything and struck Don at the centre.
The Spear burst into an explosion once it got through and a deafening sound ruptured through the chaotic area.
-Boom!
A small wave of heat tore through tge barrier, scattering around as the surroundings shook.
Bizzaro Don's figure was easily blown away from the attack. The wind barrier was instantly torn apart and his figure streaked backwards and smashed into a wall.
-Boom!
The last receding shockwaves made my bones trembled and my joints creak achingly.
I grimaced through the dust and smoke clouds.
"I thought we weren't trying to kill him."
Deandra's cracked and raspy voice came after.
"I held back."
'That was holding back?'
I wanted to swear painfully from the depths of my heart but restrained myself from a pain in my shoulder.
"And Don?"
[He survived. He blocked the blow at the last second,] Meta said.
'What? He managed to do that?'
"He managed to control the impact at the last moment." As even Deandra asserted, the smoke clouds settled and receded enough to return out vision.
Don's battered body was carved into the surface of a wall covered in cracks and black ash.
There was blood flowing from a wound on his right shoulder and his uniform was in shambles.
But still, Don wasn't incapacitated.
"Fucking bas-" before i could finish my curse, Don forced his bleeding body out of the wall.
His wounded right arm hung loosely like a broken doll from his shoulder. With a bestial, non-human growl, Don raised his left arm instead and a violent vortex of wind gathered in his palm.
The wind in the air bellowed and raged all of a sudden. They bent furiously and coalesced towards the point in Don's slightly raised hand, surging violently like an ocean tide.
This made the very air and space vibrate and shook.
A peculiar and mysterious sound like a high pitched wail filled the air, and as the wind bent towards the rapidly glowing vortex in Don's palm, 'green' gales were formed as high pressure Mana was concentrated.
A powerful sound like thunder ruptured in the air as mighty wisps of winds tore apart the ground and walls, and brought down the ceiling.
A tornado with illusory green glow formed in Don's hands and grew larger. Then in condensed immensely, spreading a destructive pressure that was separate and different from the strom.
[It's a skill,] Meta warned curtly in my head.
I tensed my body and turned sternly.
"Something is coming!" I said at Deandra who had already reverted back to normal.
The remaining two other spears of fires had been extinguished and vanished at some time. Perhaps, Deandra had been unable to sustain such a powerful spell for too long, or she had just underestimated Bizzaro Don's tenacity.
The sudden surge of power that ensued around her had also vanished along with the bright red glow and halo in her eyes.
Deandra was paler than before, with something red, wet and stick slowly trickling down from her nostrils.
She held the strange and mysterious book tightly close to her chest as she raised her other hand over her face to block the wind.
Deandra gritted her teet, struggling against the accumulating pressure that was only increasingly multiplying by the second from bizzaro Don's skill.
"We need to stop him before it's over!" Her voice came out sounding even more raspy and urgent.
Whatever skill or attack Don was preparing, it seemed like it was one that took time to charge up and accumulate enough destructive power, judging by how it kept gathering and compressing wind pressure into a point around a violent vortex.
But the thing was,
"And how are supposed to get close again?"
As the wind was bending towards Don's palm, it also made it even harder to get close to him. A literal tornado was forming in his hands, that was like holding an actual storm in the palm.
"Can't you do the same thing you just did again? This time, I'll promise to follow up with a decent punch to his face!"
That was a foolish question on my part.
It was more than clear and obvious, Deandra most likely couldn't summon as much power as she suddenly did. It was still an amazing mystery to me as to how she even did in the first place.
I glanced quietly at the strange book pressed to her chest in her hand.
I had a quiet suspicion what the book might be.
But fortunately, Deandra wasn't as entirely like minded as i was.
"I can try one more time. But you better deliver on that promise, Victor! I can only do this one final time before I'm out of this fight." Deandra sternly asserted.
The mysterious book in her hand fluttered open once more as the pages moved on their own. Deandra placed her left arm against it and drew on her vastly lowered Mana that instantly swole and surged once more.
Then she outstretched her right arm and her expression contorted greatly
"Surge forward!"
