How to Run Away from Obsessed Men

Episode 81

Episode 81

Felia’s expression was frighteningly stern.

“They’re ordering you to leave the Kesion Marquisate immediately.”

The Kesion Marquisate was currently the safest place within the Rohan Empire.

It was even safer now than when she was Lindsey Kesion.

Raysis felt guilty toward her, and Crain had lost most of his power. Objectively speaking, Lindsey wasn’t in immediate danger.

‘Though he hasn’t completely lost all his authority yet.’

Without hesitation, Lindsey made her decision.

‘Bianca’s words can’t be wrong.’

Lindsey’s gaze met Felia’s. She opened her mouth and spoke to Felia.

“Let’s escape quickly.”

Bianca anxiously clutched the blanket. Her message must have reached Felia.

‘They wouldn’t ignore my warning.’

She trusted Lindsey and Felia. They would believe her note, even though it contained neither reasons nor methods.

Even with that belief, Bianca felt frustrated at her own helplessness.

‘If only I were a little stronger, I could go to Lady Lindsey immediately…’

But Bianca couldn’t move. The price she had paid to send that message just moments ago had been substantial.

There was nothing more she could do now.

Bianca’s face was pale.

Changing the future always came with a heavy price. The Rosset family had risen to power thanks to their ability to foresee the future, but in return, they were fated to short lives.

Changing the future once was fine.

But attempting to change it repeatedly would eventually lead to a terrible death.

‘That was the fate of not only the Rosset family but many other seers as well.’

If it were possible to alter the future without any cost, the world would have already fallen into the hands of the Rosset family.

That was why, even with the knowledge, there were many things they chose not to change.

‘Crain Kesion must have lost his mind. Prince Flute is no different.’

Through her abilities, Bianca had learned that Crain and Flute had joined hands with the Eastern Empire.

‘That must be why the Senate acted.’

The Kesion Marquisate was one of the most conservative houses.

For such a house to allow a change in leadership midway, there had to be a compelling reason.

‘They must have wanted to keep Crain’s alliance with the Eastern Empire a secret.’

It was effectively Crain’s last chance.

An opportunity to step down from the marquisate with honor. However, Crain was far more unhinged than they had imagined.

He had persuaded the dim-witted Prince Flute and was now dreaming of rebellion.

Bianca felt chills at the sheer greed Crain harbored for power.

‘If Lady Lindsey had stayed there any longer…’

The future she had seen flashed through her mind.

Lindsey, chatting casually with Felia in her room. And then, transcendents from the Eastern Empire bursting into the room.

Lindsey was dragged out by the transcendents, used, and ultimately met her death.

Bianca had no intention of sitting idly by and watching that vision come to pass. So, through minimal intervention, she ensured Lindsey escaped that fate.

‘Felia is smart; she’ll find a way out.’

Felia, who had been sent to Lindsey, was Bianca’s most trusted confidante.

With that trust, Bianca believed Felia would be able to handle the situation flexibly.

Sending Felia was her way of protecting Lindsey, who constantly seemed to walk into danger.

The futures Bianca had glimpsed for Lindsey never ended well, after all.

At the same time, Bianca found herself questioning something.

‘Now that I think about it, I’ve seen Lady Lindsey before.’

As a child, Bianca had once encountered Lindsey at a banquet.

She had felt a pang of pity for her.

‘Back then, I thought she was pitiful.’

Was it because Lindsey was scorned for her tainted blood? Because of the way she seemed out of place at the banquet?

No, it was neither of those.

‘I definitely saw the future back then.’

The futures she had glimpsed.

In the brief vision she saw, Lindsey always met her death.

Even the smallest mistake could lead to her death.

‘There were so many choices that could’ve led to her demise. And yet, she’s managed to avoid them all and stay alive.’

The future changes depending on one’s choices. It isn’t always set in stone.

Even the smallest flutter of a butterfly’s wings, like the little help Bianca gave Lindsey this time, could alter the future.

‘Is someone else moving to protect Lady Lindsey?’

Otherwise, it didn’t make sense that Lindsey had survived without any major issues until now.

Bianca shook her head.

‘That’s impossible.’

If someone was helping Lindsey, allowing her to avoid those fates, that person likely no longer existed in this world.

Even if they were alive, they couldn’t possibly be in a normal state.

Changing the future dozens of times?

Even Bianca, one of the strongest transcendents in the Rohan Empire, had suffered greatly from this small intervention.

Instead of pinning her hopes on an improbable idea, Bianca chose to cheer Lindsey on.

She closed her eyes tightly and clasped her hands together.

“Please, stay safe.”

Lindsey was being carried on Felia’s back.

“I’ll have to find us a way out. I need to scout a path without enemies,” Felia said.

As she spoke, Lindsey held her breath, watching the figures who had taken over the Marquisate.

Unfamiliar transcendents were fighting the knights guarding the estate.

The knights resisted, but they were quickly overpowered by the transcendents.

Leading those transcendents was none other than Crain.

Watching them, Lindsey felt a sense of unease.

‘Where did these people come from? Are there still transcendents willing to follow Crain?’

If some of the other direct descendants of the Kesion Marquisate had survived, it might’ve been possible.

But Raysis had already eliminated all of the direct bloodline.

‘It was a close call. They invaded right after we escaped.’

If not for Bianca’s warning, they would have been caught by these people.

“Who on earth are they?” Lindsey asked.

“It must be because of what Sir Raysis did yesterday. The estate’s defenses are weaker now,” Felia replied.

“…”

“On top of that, I heard Sir Raysis isn’t here right now. How did they know that?”

“Either the Marquisate or the imperial family is on Crain’s side.”

“Maybe it’s both. Or perhaps they have other allies.”

Lindsey gripped Felia’s hand tightly.

Her heart pounded. Bianca’s brief note hadn’t revealed who the enemy was.

She couldn’t rely on the Kesion Marquisate for help.

In fact, she had to consider them as enemies too.

That left only herself and Felia to depend on.

“It’s not going to be easy to get out of here. There are more enemies than I expected,” Felia muttered.

Lindsey looked at Felia.

She saw her draw the sword at her waist.

“Sir Felia?”

“Lady Lindsey, I’m sorry. I think you’ll have to go on without me.”

Lindsey stared grimly ahead.

“I think we’ve been spotted. I can’t face Bianca after this… I don’t even know what price she paid to let us escape.”

Felia was right.

There were more than a handful of transcendents heading toward them. They locked their gazes on Lindsey and Felia and began running in their direction.

Clang!

Felia blocked the sword of one of the transcendents. She quickly hugged Lindsey and rolled away.

But it didn’t stop there.

Blades began flying from all directions.

Felia deflected several attacks, but that was as far as she could go. She was alone, and there were too many enemies.

Before long, she would succumb to the onslaught.

‘They’re only trying to keep her alive.’

The enemies showed no concern for Lindsey’s condition. Crain must have ordered them to capture her alive, no matter the cost.

Lindsey’s face hardened. She saw the enemy blades aiming for Felia’s neck.

Raising her arm, Lindsey moved to block the blade. She was prepared to lose an arm if necessary.

“No!”

Felia’s horrified voice rang in her ears.

‘It’s okay. The pain will only last for a moment.’

She squeezed her eyes shut.

And then—

“Are you alright?”

A familiar low voice reached her ears.

Lindsey slowly opened her eyes.

There, standing before her, was Mikhail, his face pale and worn. He was holding her tightly.

He looked unwell, but his presence was as commanding as ever, emanating a fierce energy.

His menacing aura was enough to make the enemies falter and retreat slightly.
