How to Run Away from Obsessed Men

Episode 46

Episode 46

Kenyan looked at Mikhail’s face.

“You…”

“…….”

“Where do you plan to take her?”

Kenyan felt fear rising inside him. It was the same fear he had felt back then.

Like when Lindsey had cried out incomprehensibly in the carriage.

He was terrified that Mikhail might take Lindsey somewhere he would never know of and leave forever.

Mikhail did not answer Kenyan’s question. Their eyes met.

“I see. So that’s how it is…”

At that moment, Kenyan realized something.

He and this man shared the same feelings. And at the same time, he realized another fact.

He couldn’t let Lindsey go.

Raysis anxiously looked out the window.

‘There’s something he’s plotting.’

He knew that Crain wouldn’t give in to his demands.

Despite knowing that, he still visited, just to gauge Crain’s reaction. As expected, Crain’s response had been lukewarm.

And that made it all the more suspicious.

‘He’s letting Lindsey go that easily?’

What could be more useful to Crain than Lindsey?

“Lord Raysis, may I come in?”

“Come in.”

A knight entered through the door.

“I’ve been informed that Lady Lindsey has been injured. She is currently on her way to the marquisate with Lord Mikhail.”

“What? What happened?”

The knight began to explain the situation.

“Count Rewan has been a critic of divine powers for the past few years.”

“…….”

“He attempted to kill Lady Lindsey but was swiftly executed by Lord Mikhail. And…”

As the knight continued, Raysis’s face grew increasingly distorted.

His eyes gleamed dangerously. He understood the full extent of the situation.

There was no way his father could have been unaware of such things happening in the lawless territories.

Despite knowing everything, his father had sent Lindsey into the jaws of death.

Raysis sank into the sofa with a cold smile.

He never left those who touched what he held dear unpunished.

Even if it was his father.

‘Lindsey has too many enemies.’

Unfortunately, his beloved little sister had too many enemies, all because of her bloodline.

Which meant.

‘I have many enemies too.’

Lindsey’s enemies were his enemies.

Raysis had no intention of letting those who threatened her go free. To protect her, he needed to become stronger.

Everything that had happened to him and Lindsey in the past was because he had been far too weak.

Raysis’s eyes reddened with fury.

To protect Lindsey from danger, he would have to eliminate all those who posed a threat to her.

Lindsey returned to the Kesion marquisate. Even after arriving, she remained bedridden for a long time.

Her body had been through such a severe ordeal that it was no surprise she had fallen ill. After all, she had even fainted.

Lindsey, finally regaining her senses, lay in bed recalling all that had happened.

“How many times have I been threatened with death?”

This world was truly cursed.

She could bear most things, but Raysis, who wouldn’t leave her side, was the exception.

The way he behaved like an overprotective older brother was enough to grate on Lindsey’s nerves.

She was tired of it all.

Her body hurt, she had no allies, and she was barely surviving day by day.

“But it’s almost over.”

Lindsey steeled herself.

She slowly sat up.

“I heard the Rewan family has been wiped out.”

While Lindsey had been unconscious on the way back to the Kesion marquisate, the Rewan family had been annihilated.

It seemed the quick action was taken to erase any evidence of what had happened there.

“Crain also seems to be hiding something.”

The moment Lindsey arrived at the marquisate, Crain had worn an expression of fury.

“I won’t let the Rewan family get away with what they’ve done to you!” he had shouted, enraged.

Lindsey had been impressed by his tearful performance.

“How clever, to single out the Rewan family by name.”

Even a fool would know that Count Rewan couldn’t have orchestrated such a plan alone. Someone must have been behind him.

“Unless it was someone as powerful as the emperor, it would have been impossible.”

It was clear Crain had no intention of pursuing responsibility that far up.

At that moment, there was a knock at the door.

“Lindsey, may I come in?”

Though she didn’t respond, the door opened. It was Rosalyn who entered.

“You look awful.”

Rosalyn glared at Lindsey harshly.

‘What’s her problem this time?’

Lindsey tried to recall if she’d had any run-ins with Rosalyn since arriving at the estate, but nothing came to mind.

“I heard you caused trouble for the family again.”

“Me?”

“Yes, you.”

Lindsey looked at Rosalyn with a face that said, *Let’s hear this out*.

“You made such a mess during your mission, didn’t you? Because of you, Dame Bianca had to return quickly from the subjugation.”

“…….”

“Someone like you is unworthy of being Lord Mikhail’s partner.”

Ah, so that’s what this was about.

Lindsey’s face became sullen. She now understood why Rosalyn had come.

“Do you even realize the disgrace Lord Mikhail has endured to save you?”

Lindsey had also heard that Mikhail had summarily executed Count Rewan and his knights.

It had been a punishment of a noble without the emperor’s approval. As a result, Mikhail had been summoned to the imperial capital for questioning.

She’d heard the Marquis of Kesion was working hard to get him out of the situation.

Lindsey felt grateful to Mikhail for that.

‘If it weren’t for him, I would’ve been killed.’

Even now, just thinking about what had happened at the Rewan estate sent chills down her spine.

“Are you listening? So, don’t go to the hunting competition. Stay at home.”

“I actually wouldn’t mind that.”

“Since Lord Mikhail was harmed because of a useless person like you, I’ll be his partner from now on.”

Lindsey shook her head as if it were hopeless. She knew exactly why Rosalyn was so worked up.

Her shrinking position within the family, due to recent events, must have been making her desperate.

People tend to lose perspective when they’re backed into a corner.

“Answer me, Lindsey Kesion!”

“There’s no need to answer.”

“Brother?”

Since when had he been watching?

Lindsey turned her head, startled.

“Rosalyn, have you always been like this?”

“No, I…”

“I asked if you’ve always acted this way. Have you been behaving like this when I wasn’t around?”

Raysis’s eyes were fierce.

‘Why’s he so angry?’

Lindsey watched their argument with a disinterested expression. Raysis looked furious with Rosalyn.

‘Weren’t they inseparable before?’

Lindsey didn’t know what had happened, but it seemed like something had driven a wedge between Rosalyn and Raysis.

“Sorry to tell you this, but Rosalyn, you won’t be going to the hunting competition.”

“What?”

“I know everything now.”

“W-what do you mean, you know everything?”

“I mean the things you did to me long ago.”

Rosalyn took a step back, her face full of shock.

“I told Father, and he said he’ll put you under house arrest. He couldn’t believe you would do something like that.”

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about. What did I do?”

“Rosalyn, stop pretending.”

“P-pretending?”

Raysis grabbed Rosalyn’s arm roughly and pulled up her sleeve.

“This is proof you’ve been deceiving me.”

A familiar accessory appeared on Rosalyn’s arm.

It was a simple-looking necklace.

One that amplified divine power—Raysis’s mother’s keepsake.

Raysis yanked the necklace off Rosalyn’s wrist with force.

“This… this is…”

“Do you have anything to say?”

“This is a misunderstanding, brother. I didn’t do it! I didn’t take it!”

“That’s for Father to decide.”

Rosalyn felt fear.

Her father would certainly ignore her pleas. Raysis had already uncovered everything.

In terms of importance within the family, Raysis held more value than she did.

Crain would likely discard his useless daughter. Rosalyn had no way to argue back.

The necklace in Raysis’s hand was already proof of her guilt.

‘Even without this, he’s already convinced.’

She didn’t know what methods Raysis had used, but he had managed to uncover everything.

“P-please, just forgive me this once. We were so close before, brother.”

Raysis didn’t answer.

Desperate, Rosalyn tried to cling to his arm, but Raysis was quicker, swatting her hand away.

Lindsey watched the scene with admiration.

‘He’s being so cold, just like when he swatted my hand away before.’

It was clear that Raysis had lost all affection for Rosalyn. Carefully, Lindsey raised her hand and spoke.

“Sorry to interrupt, but could you take this fight outside?”
