How To Live as a Cyberpunk Solver

chapter 27

27. Cooking

Leonard’s intuition was on the right side.

For convenience, it is only called ‘intuition’, and it was correct to say ‘inference’ because it analyzes the situation and infers the result by substituting conditions. According to the sigma formula, the correct answer rate was close to 80%.

“Even if the Korea Meteorological Administration announced that it was ‘clear’ all year round, it would still be 75%?”

“What else is the Meteorological Agency? Oh, I’m out of breath, so don’t talk to me.”

Noah Lucas’ implants were definitely a thing. He jumped up and down like a rubber ball and showed no signs of getting tired. It was a body that did not feel the weight as much as the personality. Leonard also did not lag behind if it was ‘advanced’ and crossed three blocks in a straight line. There was a reason why urban solvers preferred lightweight bodies.

“It’s over there.”

Leonard and Noah leave Max and the Entrepreneur back and return to 13-1 Street. While Leonard was sliding on the roof, Noah Lucas stomped on the signs and reached the garage first.

“What, is everything okay?”

Noah opened the garage, muttering, ‘The young guy is just an old woman…’. Then, reflexively, he flung his body backwards. The truck loaded with Azdec’s potatoes turned on its high beams and accelerated. Even if he was only 1.3 seconds late, he was hit by a car and his body was damaged.

“Hey! Crazy?!”

Contrary to Noah’s suspicion, he was not crazy. Because there is no driver in the first place. The top car ran unmanned. It’s a corporate vehicle, so there’s nothing strange about having an auto drive system, but…

‘Is this a hack?’

Azdek’s employees passed out in a corner of the garage. Smoke billowing out of my ears was an overload hack.

As the name suggests, it is a hack that causes pain by overloading the nerve module, but it was so rudimentary that it could easily be prevented by lowering the sensory function. The Azdek Company employee, who was not helpful in the mission, was not even able to do that.

“Hacker!”

“Eek-!”

Noah Lucas gave up the chase. Even the legendary solver was reluctant to implant hackers. Hey Leonard – by Junk Town standards – he’s got a good reputation, so it’s normal for hackers not to deal with them.

“You are doing something interesting.”

A hacked truck approached Leonard. The moment the body brushes the tip of the foot, the Hexagon hacking module is activated. From the thousands and tens of thousands of radio waves that covered the city, the hacker’s radio waves were snatched.

At the same time as blocking vehicle hacking, reverse tracking began. I was quite concerned about security and bypassed several servers, but the technology was rudimentary. If you are going to use the auto drive system, it would be safer to use the traffic satellite, but it seems that you don’t have the skills to do that. I found the hacker’s body and stabbed it with a sharp nerve blade. It stabbed about 2,800 times per second. Somewhere in the city, a scream of burning neurons rang out.

“Whoa…”

The narrative was long, but it was a fight that lasted less than three seconds. The hacker died instantly, and the Azdek company’s truck hit the corner of the 3rd-floor villa and stopped. Noah Lucas approached, feeling that he had won.

“Did you catch it?”

“I killed him.”

If it’s Max, ‘Oh! cruel person!’ I may be wrong, but the elder solver, who had been covered in blood, immediately understood.

“I wish I knew why you did this…”

“At least it wasn’t because I wanted to eat potatoes.”

“Are you hired as well?”

It wasn’t a scavenger. If you have credits to hire hackers, they won’t steal potatoes.

“The Blast Gang.”

They were the only group that didn’t like corporations meddling with Junktown’s restaurant scene. After a moment of silence, Leonard and Noah Lucas acted professionally.

“It’s none of our business.”

“Since the cargo was protected, the request has been completed.”

No matter how delicious the potatoes were, fighting a gang at 100 credits per hour was not profitable.

@

The car broke down and was mobilized for delivery without time to eat lunch, but the request was safely completed at 19:15. Potato entrepreneurs expressed their gratitude over and over again and sent money from the site. Even so, it was meaningless to come in through a fixer broker.

“It was fun working together after a long time. Little Walker there too.”

said Noah Lucas, returning the coat. His chest and pelvis were visible through the torn hem, and he looked manly. It was a top-of-the-line implant, so it was unnecessarily sophisticated.

“Goodbye, never see you again.”

“Will that work?”

Noah Lucas greeted him meaningfully and climbed onto his crimson cruiser bike. It was loud and splendid, resembling its owner.

‘Does Mr. Leonard’s truck look like Mr. Leonard?’

While Max had a wild idea, Noah Lucas started the engine, pulled the accelerator, and disappeared across 13th Street. Its performance was just as amazing as it looked. Max stared blankly at the afterimage of the red taillight, then suddenly realized.

“Isn’t that White Town?”

“Well, I’ve been doing this for over 20 years.”

The implants are top-notch, the motorcycles are top-notch, and even the place where you live is a white town. Max’s expression darkened again.

“cool…”

The solver who earns and lives day by day refuted.

“That is not average. That is not normal.”

Wonderful things are wonderful things, and the end of the 30-hour quest was extreme fatigue.

Young Max dozed off in the pickup truck, then returned to the 11-1st Street Villa and stretched out. I felt like I had to train my body if I wasn’t going to replace it with an implant body.

“Didn’t everything happen?”

Leonard handed Sigma the bag of potatoes the potato entrepreneur had given him and asked. It was an Android that could live alone for years as long as it had a charger, so it was a question like a habit. However, something unexpected happened.

“A guest came.”

“customer?”

Leonard took off his coat and opened the brain chip. I was distracted and checked to see if there were any missed calls. It was clean, not Jake the broker.

“I haven’t contacted you. It’s not an important visit.”

“You wouldn’t have the right to judge that, would you?”

“I’m sorry if you were offended.”

Sigma lowered his head slightly. Leonard even unfastened his shoulder holster, thinking that he might have to tinker with AI autonomy. The revolver and knife were heavier than usual.

“who?”

“This is a client who came before.”

Sigma displayed the video stored on the TV. The front door camera quality is not good, but it was good enough to recognize it roughly.

“This is Mr. B from the Liberation Front.”

“It’s important!”

To be precise, it was dangerous.

@

The money came in from broker Jake. As if he had really added extra allowance, he had more than 2,200 credits even after deducting taxes, levies, and fees.

“Did you put in another 500 credits?”

It’s small for a company, but the Azdek Sara understood.

The Liberation Front gang, who came to visit while I was away, just asked for their regards and went right back. Just in case, I worked hard on pirate broadcasting and accessed the darknet, but there was no information. I thought it might have come because I had something to ask for personally and then just went back. A-044 City didn’t have Leonard as the only solver, so they should have asked for something else.

“I don’t need guys who don’t keep their promises.”

“Yes? Me?”

Max widened his eyes. It looks like something is poking me. Leonard motioned for a potato. It’s an unpleasant gesture, but I was really eating potatoes, so I had nothing to say.

Thanks to Azdek, the cost of food has been greatly reduced. Not only Max, who was tired of grain porridge, but also Leonard, whose staple food was energy bars, ate potatoes for one meal a day. Sigma showed off its usual boasting cooking function. Anyway, it was grilled potatoes, potato soup, french fries, and boiled potatoes.

“If you have a sufficient supply of ingredients, you can cook more.”

“A master’s pen doesn’t blame the brush, and a sharpshooter doesn’t blame the gun. It’s a useless feature in the first place.”

In an era when food materials cost gold, there was no luxury like cooking. It was a feature that was more than enough for a second-generation Android.

“Then why does it have a cooking function?”

“Well? It must be because it is an old Android.”

It was produced in the 70s, but the design itself was before the Great War, so there were many unnecessary functions in modern times. Child care, body massage, violin playing, etc. were like that.

Leonard removed the empty bowl and brought out a bag that looked like a guitar case. Needless to say, it wasn’t a real guitar. In an era when even potatoes were hard to find, there was nothing to say about classical instruments.

“It’s a 7.62mm sniper rifle ‘Winterfield’ from Gun & Guns.”

Max knew too well. It was the first gun I touched when I came here.

“Was today my birthday?”

“How do I know your birthday? and not giving you’re lending Write it clean and return it.”

Max also knew that Gunn’Guns was an old-man munitions company. It was a gun that could not be easily obtained on the ground.

“It is used by the allied forces, so you can shoot at a distance of 700m with the naked eye. It is perfect for you now.”

Here, the naked eye is the non-implanted eye. Of course, I had to use a scope. Max was given a rifle the size of his height, and he loved it.

“I will practice hard! I will practice every day! Shall we start today?”

“Today… I need to rest too.”

The fixer wasn’t originally a very diligent job. If I work a day, I play for as little as a week or as long as a month, but these days, I live very hard because I am overflowing with work.

‘I heard that the casino on the second floor has opened. Shall we go there?’

It was more fun to spend credit than to earn it. This was an unchanging truth.

@

Leonard sneaked out of the office, separating Max from Sigma, who were busy playing with their new toys. In addition to the chin, I said hello to a neighbor I knew, and went through the connecting corridor on the second floor and entered the Jack Turner gambling room made of simple partitions.

ttiririririring- ding- ding- ttiing-!

The sound of the slot machine rolling was cozy and cozy. It feels like going back to the playground of my childhood. Prior to the game, Leonard visited Jack, the casino manager.

“If you start a business, you should let me know first.”

“A fixer? I was afraid to send one up.”

The manager of the gambling house welcomed Leonard, one of the hogu. It wasn’t loud, but it was a good hukou that steadily took care of one employee’s salary.

“We are having a free champagne tasting event to commemorate the reopening. Would you like a drink?”

“What is champagne, diluted methanol mixed with grape-flavored carbonic acid?”

“They who come here won’t drink champagne until they die anyway.”

That was true, except for one person.

Leonard put away the counterfeit champagne brought by third-generation androids dressed as bunny girls and picked out a slot machine to burn tonight. It’s all new settings, so if you do business honestly, it won’t explode no matter what you choose…

‘Jack is not an idiot, so he must have adjusted it to explode once.’

That’s why ‘maybe me too?’ Because the hogu who does it works harder. Since it was a promotional jackpot, there was a high possibility that it would be a good publicity spot. Leonard carefully selected the machine, adjusted the height of the chair, and exchanged the credits for tokens. The untouched slot lever felt good.

“Then shall we start lightly with 2 credits?”

Although the beginning was light, the result was not light.
