How to get on the protagonist’s flower path

Chapter 17 - How to Manage Connections (7)

If that’s the case, then this could be a tremendous ability to manipulate the very flow of the world if used wisely.

I decided to test it by writing, “Kang Na-hyun is actually from an incredibly powerful family in the awakened society.”

[10000 Points] [Not enough points!] I get it, you bastards.

…Was that demand really that unreasonable? I felt a bit hurt.

I randomly typed various things into the [Story Twist] section.

First, my sick little sister’s medical treatment.

‘Treat Kang Yu’s illness.’

[10000 Points] Still too expensive. I clicked my tongue lightly.

Next…

‘Make Kang Na-hyun an ultra-powerful munchkin.’

[5000000 Points] …Unnecessarily expensive. It’s even more expensive than changing her origin.

‘Deposit 10 billion into Kang Na-hyun’s bank account, tax-free and from a clean source.’

[100000 Points] …Tch. This was genuinely disappointing.

I stared at the system window displaying [Not enough points!] and then just lay down on my bed.

Instead of doing unnecessary things, I should take a moment to rest.

The time for relaxation always feels too short. Just when I thought I had lain down for a moment, it was soon time to go prepare for the raid.

I quietly packed my gear and headed to the place where the scammer was waiting.

The scammer called me to a walking path near the F-grade dormitory, specifically a natural clearing just north of a fountain.

“Yuhan! Soojung!”

The scammer was bustling about, seemingly in a hurry, as he prepared for something.

Next to him, Choi Soojung was floating in the air, spinning around.

“Shh.”

The scammer made a gesture to be quiet and then looked at his watch.

“In about five minutes, a stationary gate will appear right here.”

I gripped my gun tightly. Even though I knew I wouldn’t get hurt, the tension was unavoidable.

Five minutes later, the space in front of the scammer shimmered and began to melt into a round shape.

The opened space, about the size of a round door, revealed a temple-like place. Its appearance was strangely out of place, as if a puzzle piece had been incorrectly fitted.

Although it wasn’t my first time seeing a gate, it was my first time seeing a stationary one.

Before I knew it, Choi Soojung, who had been behind me, exclaimed in amazement.

“Oh. It’s real~. Amazing, junior!”

“Junior…? Who are you talking about, Soojung?”

Pretend you don’t know. Pretend you don’t know.

The fact that Soojung was actually my senior was still unknown to ‘me.’

I feigned a puzzled expression and tilted my head, doing my best to imitate a clueless fool.

“Is there something going on? Na-hyun doesn’t know anything?”

I was shaking in fear.

Choi Soojung smiled and flew over to the scammer.

“So, what do we do now~?”

“It’s simple. We’re going to hunt at the dungeon entrance.”

“At the entrance? But in a stationary dungeon, the monsters roam inside the gate, right?”

Pretending to not know while actually knowing was quite a challenge.

I was diligently fulfilling the narrative device’s role to have the protagonist naturally reveal his plan. I really deserved an incentive for this.

“Yeah. So we’re going to lure the monsters. With this.”

I made a surprised expression as I looked at the monster core that the scammer pulled out of his pocket.

Monsters grow stronger by consuming the cores of other monsters. So, they sometimes kill each other or seek out the cores of dead monsters.

The radiant green core was glowing in the scammer’s hand.

The scammer grinned and said, “This was hard to obtain.”

I calmed down the trembling Kang Na-hyun and had her wait at the entrance while Soojung and I entered the dungeon.

“Na-hyun really doesn’t know anything!”

“I told you that.”

Sound was blocked between the inside and outside of the gate.

I glanced at the calm Kang Na-hyun, who was still trembling, and pulled out the core from my pocket.

That should be fine; she had displayed similar skill during her first simulation training. This environment should be easy for her.

“So, could you lift me into the air, senior?”

“Sure, junior~.”

As Soojung created a gust of wind, my body floated up. Once we became visible in the air, the sounds of beasts howling echoed from all around.

Originally, our plan was to defeat only the monsters on the way to the temple and report back at the gate, but after successfully recruiting Soojung, I changed my mind.

The more monsters we defeat, and the higher the levels, the better, right?

Through the ‘party’ function, I established a connection with Kang Na-hyun.

Well, since it wouldn’t be a hardship for me.

I gazed at the herd of beasts rushing toward us from afar and crushed the green core in my hand. The residual dark magical energy spread out in all directions.

It was a core from a 1st-grade sand worm. They wouldn’t be able to resist charging at us.

The monsters swirling toward us looked like excellent experience points. The incoming experience points would be sweet.

I continued to float in the air with Soojung’s help, directing her to lure the monsters.

“First, bring that Shark Rabbit up from the ground.”

Have a little struggle, main dealer.

***

It was way too many, for real!

I shouted in agony as I kept firing my gun in rapid succession.

“Scammer, you bastard!”

It didn’t matter; the person inside the gate wouldn’t hear me.

He really goes all out since it’s not him doing the hard work!

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!

Even though I was prepared, curses slipped out uncontrollably.

Damn that scammer!

Fortunately, most of the monsters coming from this gate had their cores exposed on the outside of their bodies, so I was able to accurately shoot and shatter their cores while spraying bullets everywhere.

What annoyed me more was that just as the monster corpses piled up, almost blocking the gate, I used Soojung to create a gust of wind and clear them away.

I completely understood his intention of trying to extract as much experience points as possible. You bastard scammer!

Bang!

One shot shattered the core on the head of a Shark Rabbit.

Bang!

Another shot crushed the core in the chest of a Tiger Whale.

Bang!

As soon as I realized that monsters were attacking from beyond the entrance, they rushed over to break through the gate.

However, since it was a stationary gate, they couldn’t cross the threshold and merely banged their bodies against it, exposing their cores.

While mechanically firing my gun, I felt a strange sentiment watching the relentless deaths of the monsters.

The sight before my eyes evoked unpleasant memories buried deep within my heart.

People who had desperately clung on to overcome the barricade, screaming as they were shot and dying, that hellish scene occupied my mind.

And among them, the one who was also shot down…

My hands trembled as I aimed. My skills automatically activated to help with my aim. I felt sick as my magical energy drained away.

I roughly gulped down the mana potion the scammer had given me.

…That was an uncomfortable thought. Let’s just get back to work.

Clearing my mind of distractions, I continued to deal with the remaining monsters.

After a long time, all the monsters gathered at the gate entrance had turned into corpses.

Seeing the scammer and Soojung descending from the air inside the gate, I quickly used my meta points.

Leveling up and the automatic stat allocation that followed went much better than expected, resulting in a surprisingly high stat.

“Yuhan! Soojung!”

Smile, Kang Na-hyun. That’s what you need to do to survive right now.

“I… my stats are…”
