How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

40. "Billy♂King" Madness

“Dazhu, today your big brother’s taking you out. You can’t just stay cooped up in that tiny room of yours all day. I really don’t understand what’s so interesting about those cartoons that you’re so obsessed with,” Zhao Tiancheng said, glancing at his younger brother walking beside him. From the way he dressed to his entire aura, Zhao Dazhu was the epitome of a shut-in. He even walked while staring at his phone. Honestly, Zhao Tiancheng couldn’t help but worry—how was his little brother ever going to find a girlfriend at this rate?

“It’s not cartoons, it’s anime,” Zhao Dazhu corrected while still glued to his phone. Though the terms “cartoon” and “anime” were often interchangeable, for reasons he couldn’t quite explain, he really hated when people called anime “cartoons.” It was a strange obsession of his.

“Alright, alright, anime it is.” Zhao Tiancheng wasn’t in the mood to argue with his brother. His thoughts were occupied with something far more important—what he should talk about with Ling Ning when he saw her later. After spending some time getting to know her, he had grown increasingly fond of this long-legged beauty with an aura of domestic charm.

His strategy had been flawless so far, and though Ling Ning seemed cold and indifferent on the outside, he was convinced she might secretly be warming up to him. Maybe she was just too shy to say anything. Thinking about it made his heart flutter with excitement.

Just to see Ling Ning every day, Zhao Tiancheng had even broken up with his current girlfriend. It was a relationship that had taken him more than six months of effort to establish, and they hadn’t even slept together before he ended it. If this had been the old him, it would have been unthinkable.

As the thought of seeing Ling Ning soon crossed his mind, Zhao Tiancheng’s heart started racing. Could this be what love felt like?

Meanwhile, at the café, Ling Ning suddenly felt a chill, shivering instinctively.

“Could the air conditioning be set too low? Why does it feel so cold?” she murmured to herself.

“Is this… the legendary maid café?” Zhao Dazhu stood in awe before the café. He had known his brother wanted to take him out, but he hadn’t expected to be brought somewhere this exciting.

“So, what do you think, little bro?”

“You’re amazing, big bro!” Zhao Dazhu exclaimed. As a true shut-in, he’d always dreamed of visiting a maid café but had never dared to do so alone. Now that his brother had brought him, he was thrilled.

“Why are you just standing there? Come on, let’s go in.” Zhao Tiancheng took the lead, pushing open the door and stepping inside. Zhao Dazhu snapped out of his daze and hurriedly followed.

“Welcome back, Master! O(∩_∩)O~” Ling Ning greeted them. Though she really wanted to smack Zhao Tiancheng, she had to put on a cheerful face. This kind of acting always made her feel truly blue and miserable.

Zhao Dazhu stood frozen, staring at Ling Ning in her maid outfit. A real-life maid! Even though he always called maids in anime “garbage,” seeing one in person filled him with an excitement he couldn’t deny.

Just then, someone bumped into him from behind, and a soft, pleasant voice apologized, “Oh, I’m so sorry~”

Turning around, Zhao Dazhu found himself face-to-face with another “maid.” Long, jet-black hair, bright doe-like eyes, a delicate nose, and a gentle fragrance that surrounded her—everything about this maid was flawless, except for a somewhat flat chest.

“N-no… it’s fine.” Zhao Dazhu stammered, staring dazedly at Chu Feng. Was this what love at first sight felt like?

Chu Feng smiled slightly at his response before turning to continue serving the customers. Zhao Dazhu, now completely captivated by that smile, didn’t even notice his brother calling him several times.

“And this is…?” Ling Ning asked, confused as she looked at Zhao Dazhu.

“This is my younger brother, Zhao Dazhu. He stays at home all the time, so I thought I’d take him out for some fresh air.” Zhao Tiancheng smiled. This was one of the rare times Ling Ning had actually asked him something.

“Zhao… Dazhu!? Incredible, your brother’s got quite the name,” Ling Ning couldn’t help but silently ridicule him in her mind.

“Is that maid a new hire? I don’t think I’ve seen them here before.” Since Zhao Tiancheng came to the café nearly every day, he was quite familiar with everyone working there.

Upon hearing his brother’s question, Zhao Dazhu perked up, clearly eager to learn more about the cute maid he had just encountered.

Ling Ning glanced at Zhao Dazhu with an amused look before smiling and saying, “Oh~ That one? That’s Chu Mengyao’s younger sibling, here to help out today. Want me to call them over for a chat?”

“Yes, please.” Before Zhao Tiancheng could respond, Zhao Dazhu blurted out eagerly.

“I’ll go call them over,” Ling Ning said, getting up to fetch Chu Feng. Once her task was done, she decided to make herself scarce for a bit.

Seeing Chu Feng approach, Zhao Dazhu was overjoyed, but Zhao Tiancheng, on the other hand, was feeling defeated. How had things turned out like this? He had been planning to give Ling Ning the gift he had brought, but before he even had the chance, everything had gone awry. Still, for the sake of maintaining her favor, he decided against pressing the matter. Instead, he took a sip of his coffee, his thoughts drifting far away.

“H-hello,” Zhao Dazhu stuttered, greeting Chu Feng. This was his first time speaking directly to a girl (?), and he wasn’t sure what to say.

“Hi there~” Chu Feng tilted his head slightly, studying Zhao Dazhu. There was something off about the way Zhao Dazhu was looking at him—almost like the way the boys at school used to look at him, those hopeless guys.

“Hey~ So you like ‘The Legend of Billy♂King’ too?” Chu Feng had just noticed Zhao Dazhu’s t-shirt, which was merch from the anime, featuring the iconic “King♂ Smile.”

“Yes, yes! I think the Forest Fairy in it is just too adorable. Billy King is cool too, but I like the Forest Fairy better.” The moment Zhao Dazhu started talking about something he liked, his whole demeanor changed—he was suddenly full of life.

“I still prefer Billy King. That move, ‘Patchouli♂GO,’ was just too awesome. And ‘Stand Still’ too—he’s got such a cool aura in every scene,” Chu Feng said, feeling a bit excited himself. After all, “The Legend of Billy♂King” was pretty niche, and he had never found someone else to discuss it with before.

Since they now had a common interest, the two quickly hit it off. Even Zhao Tiancheng, who was half-heartedly sitting beside them, couldn’t help but take another look at his little brother. It was his first time here, and already he was deep in conversation with a cute “girl.” Had his brother been hiding his talents all along?
