chapter 35
Episode 35
“Ah! What a crazy surprise!”
Hee-Na wasn’t the only one who was surprised. Hunter, who was chatting with her, was also shouting profanities.
It was an S-class concealment. It was good to recognize it.
“We’re supposed to use mild language in the guild. Do you understand?”
Kang Jinhyun warned the swearing Hunter with a stern look, then turned his head and softened his hardened expression. This one was for Hee-Nayong.
“Is there anything I can do to help you?”
“Yes?”
“It seems a bit overwhelming for your small size to clean this large area. Don’t you need any help?”
I didn’t need any. I’ve never felt overwhelmed by cleaning the guild, especially with the outfit advantage of an apron and headband.
My stamina was a bit of an issue, but that was quickly fixed by snacking on food.
“I’m grateful that they want to help, but it’s what I get paid to do, and I love cleaning and organizing, so I don’t feel like it’s too hard, and I have skills in cleaning.”
Hee-na tried to reject Kang Jin-hyun’s overbearing kindness.
But Kang’s motivation was sky-high.
“You don’t have to take it as a burden. I’m also one of the Blue Dragon Guild’s executives, and I’m obligated to strive for the welfare of our employees.”
There was no way that Hunters with good ears could not hear this. Roar, roar, people chattered.
What the hell, Jin-hyun Kang must be crazy.
Kang Jin-hyun was unperturbed by their chatter. He showed the calmness of an S-class Hunter.
“Do you need to make your bed? I think I can help you with that.”
He calmly grabbed the bedspread and pulled it up. It seemed like a gentle touch, but the comforter screamed.
Tsk!
It was a lone scream as the fluffy break room comforter snapped in half.
“Ah.”
Kang froze, sensing something was wrong. He gently removed the torn quilt and patted the pillow.
But it was Kang’s idea to pat the pillow, and the pillow had a different opinion.
Puck! Puck! Puck!
The punching bag rang out twice, and then the pillow oxidized with a loud explosion.
The pillowcase was torn open, and the down spilled out. It was a brutal sight.
Hee-na was speechless for a moment, then finally spoke.
“Go, Mr. Hunter Kang, is something wrong?”
I wanted to ask, “Are you angry?” but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Asking someone who’s already angry if they’re angry makes them angry.
Besides, Kang Jin-hyun was a powerful Hunter who could rip people apart with a snap of his fingers when he was angry.
“…….”
Kang jin-hyeon remained silent and lowered his eyes at Hee Na’s question. For some reason, a shade of color seemed to pass over his face.
“Hunter Kang Jin-hyun?”
She called his name again, and he stammered.
“Ms. Hee-Na……. I didn’t do it on purpose.”
With those last words, Kang Jin-hyun scurried away from the mess, leaving only a blurry afterimage. In layman’s terms, he ran away.
Cinderella disappeared at midnight, leaving behind her glass slipper, while Kang Jin-hyun fled, leaving behind a torn quilt and a popped pillow.
Hee-na bent down and picked up the torn quilt, feeling a little relieved.
“……I’m having a hard time understanding what just happened, so I’m going to clean this up and clear my head.”
The situation was quickly cleared up. The tired Hunter was given a “cozy bed” first, and the torn blanket and pillow were packed away.
The stares quickly dispersed as Hee-Na went about her usual routine.
After all, anything could happen in the Hunter’s common room. Besides, if you were Kang Jin-hyun, you could do anything.
The Hunters had forgotten what had just happened.
* * *
It was the end of the lunch break.
Hee-na sat sprawled out on a bench in the corner of the rooftop garden, basking in the warmth of the sun. It wouldn’t be strange if she fell into a nap right now.
“It’s still a long way from lunchtime, so why don’t I set the alarm and take a 20-minute nap?
In other words, the atmosphere was so relaxing that Lee Hee-na, who was known for her diligence, was considering taking a nap.
It was also a secluded spot, so it was unlikely to be noticed.
“Rrrrrrr!”
She stretched up in concern.
“Hee-na.”
Kang Jin-hyun’s face suddenly appeared from behind a tree in the corner of the garden.
“Boom!”
Hee-na shouted in surprise at the sight of Kang Jin-hyun’s face peeking out from behind the tree.
“It’s me.”
Kang Jin-hyun stepped out from behind the tree and raised his hands in reassurance. It seemed to indicate that he had no intention of attacking, so he wouldn’t hurt her.
“You seem to freak out every time I get close to you.”
Kang Jin-hyun said as he approached Hee-na.
His voice sounded a bit sullen, but it was an illusion. Kang’s face was as expressionless as ever.
“It’s not that I’m scared of you, Hunter Kang, or that you’re bad, it’s just that I’m surprised.”
Hee-na blamed her new breasts fervently.
“I see. From now on, I’ll make sure to show up on my own accord.”
Kang nodded and stood in front of the bench where Hee-na was sitting. A large shadow fell in front of her.
“Wow. How tall do you think he is? He’s got to be over six-foot-five.
He was already a tall man, but sitting down, he looked even taller.
“What’s going on?”
Hee Na asked, and Kang jin-hyeon asked.
“Do you mind if I sit next to you?”
“Yes. Of course.”
This was the rooftop garden that everyone shared. Why not?
Besides, sitting and looking up at him was very stiff and made my neck hurt.
“Thank you.”
Kang Jin-hyun sat down two seats away from where Hee-na sat, not too close, not too far away. It wasn’t a bad distance for a conversation.
It was Kang who started the conversation.
“I’m sorry about earlier,” he said, “I left a mess in the break room.”
HeeNa held out her hand.
“No, it’s okay. There wasn’t much to clean up.”
Not after hearing the extent of the damage the Hunters had caused from the environmental beautification team. It was just a tear in the quilt, not even in the axle.
“No, I was cowardly,” he says.
“That’s the least you can do……. I’m fine.”
When the S-class Hunter Kang Jin-hyun called her “cowardly,” Hee-na began to feel that the apology was a bit much.
“I was embarrassed that I suddenly couldn’t control my power, so I stopped avoiding the issue.”
“No…….”
Kang Jin-hyun begged for forgiveness as if he had done something wrong.
“I’ll do anything to properly apologize to Hee-na.”
He sounded like he could kill someone right now, and it was incredibly overwhelming.
“What am I supposed to do, slap her because she deserved to die?
Hee-Na rolled her eyes, trying to figure out how to get out of this situation, and then she saw something.
She pointed her finger at it. Kang Jin-hyun’s gaze moved to her fingertips.
At the end of his line of sight was an instant coffee vending machine. Hee-na pointed at the vending machine and said.
“If you’re sorry, buy me a cup of coffee and we can make up for it.”
Hee-na sat down on the bench and looked at Kang Jin-hyun’s back. The clean-cut young man was bent at the waist, a serious expression on his face.
If she didn’t know he was trying to figure out which button to push on a vending machine, she might have thought he was Hunter Kang, deep in thought about world peace.
“I’ll have a milk coffee, please!”
Hee-Na shouted to ease Kang’s distress.
Kang nodded and immediately poured two cups of milk coffee. He was good at following orders.
“It’s ready. Here we go.”
He held a paper cup in each hand and started walking toward Hee-na.
And for a moment, Hee-Na realized she had forgotten something important.
“Oh, this is the guy who can turn a cup of coffee into half a cup of coffee!
In the short distance from the vending machine to the bench, the tiny paper cup crumpled and spewed out a gurgling stream of coffee.
“Oh, no……. I’m sorry. There’s almost no coffee left.”
Kang Jin-hyun apologized with embarrassment.
But for Hee-na, the amount of coffee left didn’t matter.
“Your hands must have been hot, are you okay?”
Hee-na jumped up from her seat, grabbed a clean dishcloth from her apron, and wiped Kang’s hands.
The fresh coffee from the vending machine was hot, and it must have been painful for him to have spilled it all over his hands.
“It’s okay, it’s not a temperature that poses much of a threat to my body.”
Kang Jin-hyun replied, slipping his hand out of Hee-na’s grasp.
“But your skin was hot, it just hurt less than everyone else’s, not that it would have hurt!”
Hee-na clicked her tongue and handed over the dishcloth.
After looking at her for a moment, Kang wiped his sticky hands and sat down on the bench.
“……Don’t worry about it too much, it’s just warm.”
He handed her the last of the coffee. Hee-Na carefully took the crumpled paper cup.
There was a sip of coffee pooling at the bottom, but after all the mess, she still had something to drink.
“I’ll drink it well……. Thank you.”
Hee-na took a mouthful of coffee.
Kang Jin-hyun carefully held onto his paper cup. He looked like he had something to say.
“I’m sorry if I’ve shown you an ugly side of me.”
His expression was impassive, but somehow, he also seemed to be embarrassed.
Hee-na remembered what Team Leader Kim Hwa-soon had said.
“No matter what you see of S-class Hunter Kang Jin-hyun, do not reveal it to the outside world.
She thought he might be a bit of a loophole.
‘…… Of course, I didn’t expect it to be this bad.’
