"A Valkyrie?!" Chen Tianwu's eyes flickered. Although he was an ordinary person, he did have some knowledge about Valkyries; it was only Honkai that remained unknown to him.
"Well then, I entrust myself to your care, Miss Ana."
Smiling, Chen Tianwu extended his hand.
Ana hesitated briefly but still grasped Chen Tianwu's hand. To her, she felt no personal connection; her actions were driven solely by duty and obligation, thus carrying no emotional burden.
However, truthfully speaking, if it were the original Ana aware of what Chen Tianwu would do for her in the future, she might have found it unbearable to face him.
After a brief rest, Ana led Chen Tianwu further away from the battlefield, as their current position was indeed unsafe.
Unfortunately, as time passed, Chen Tianwu's deterioration due to Honkai worsened significantly, forcing them to stop again for another break.
As if misfortune never comes alone, just when they paused, the distant Emperor of Honkai noticed them and began its approach.
"The Emperor of Honkai!" Ana's heart jolted at the sight of the approaching Honkai Beast.
Neither the original nor the present Ana had any experience battling such a high-ranking lower-tier Honkai Beast. The Valkyrie rankings primarily relied on past performance records.
This vast gap between S and A ranks stems from each S-class Valkyrie possessing extensive combat experience and the ability to independently confront Imperial Rank Honkai Beasts.
"Damn, it spotted us!" Ana bit her lip, silently cursing under her breath. She wouldn't blame Chen Tianwu; she had chosen to save him herself - every decision was hers.
But now, choices didn't matter; finding a way out of this predicament was key.
"Miss Ana, you can retreat on your own, right?"
As Ana strained her mind for a solution, Chen Tianwu suddenly asked with a smile beside her.
"Don't worry about that," Ana quickly responded. She couldn't afford any lingering doubts or hesitations, so regardless of what Chen Tianwu suggested, she couldn't agree. Despite being somewhat indecisive by nature.
Chen Tianwu held back his words, a wry smile appearing on his pale face. He knew well that their current predicament was entirely due to his actions. If not for him, but...
"I'll draw its attention away; you find an opportunity to evacuate."
After a moment, Ana lifted her head, her voice firm and resolute, leaving no room for doubt. As an A-rank Valkyrie, even if she couldn't defeat the Emperor of Honkai, ensuring her own escape shouldn't be an issue, right?
From her observation, this particular Emperor was the only immediate danger nearby. By luring it away, Chen Tianwu would likely be safe.
Chen Tianwu opened his mouth but hesitated, unable to speak.
He could clearly see that the Valkyrie before him harbored fear towards the monstrous creature. Ana's hands were trembling, yet she still insisted on taking action. All she did was for him, an ordinary, seemingly worthless individual.
"Don't worry, I won't let anything happen to myself," Ana reassured Chen Tianwu with a forced smile. Her smile was genuinely beautiful and sweet, akin to an angel's, in Chen Tianwu's eyes.
Pausing briefly, Ana continued, "So, you must survive as well."
Ana lifted her hand and produced a necklace, which was a keepsake from her mother. To Ana, it held sentimental value, but at this moment, it seemed less significant.
For her now, perhaps it could serve as a crucial item for a mission? After all, she was Ana, yet not entirely the same Ana.
"This necklace belonged to my mother."
Without further explanation, Ana handed the necklace to Chen Tianwu.
"I hope you can return it to me personally someday."
With that, Ana didn't wait for Chen Tianwu's response. She gracefully waved, then rushed out from their hiding spot, heading straight towards the Emperor of Honkai.
In Chen Tianwu's eyes, the girl's departing figure appeared remarkably beautiful and heroic. He clenched his teeth, carefully placed the necklace around his neck, stood up with great effort, and began limping away in the opposite direction.
He would forever cherish this encounter and hold onto this promise, determined to survive.
"Miss Ana... You must survive as well!"
Unaware of Chen Tianwu's thoughts at that moment, Ana felt an immense sense of relief upon fleeing.
She had truly taken her first step towards change.
Saving Chen Tianwu wasn't out of guilt; from start to finish, she remained in control. She owed him nothing, although not being able to save Chen Tianwen was deeply regrettable.
Nor did she wish for Chen Tianwu to become her devoted admirer, following the original storyline. If possible, she simply hoped he could live on.
However—his hopes were now entirely placed upon her... Nonetheless, who knows if the future can't be altered? The most crucial task right now is to divert this flaming Emperor of Honkai before her eyes.
To be precise, it's the Lava Emperor.
But can I really defeat such a formidable foe?
The anticipated live stream for Honkai Impact 3's Version 1.2 preview arrived on New Year's Eve, December 31st, 2016. At this time, mihoyo was not yet as massive as it would become in the future. Da Wei appeared somewhat inexperienced and unpolished compared to Lei Sovereign, who had been invited for the event, making their interaction almost one-sided.
Despite his lack of finesse, players remained highly enthusiastic about this version preview, and during the stream, Da Wei revealed several significant updates.
These included the new Chiyou side-story arc, Himeko's Valkyrie armors - Valiant Victory and Blood Rose, Kiana's premium skin Winter Princess, updates to the Home system, along with various optimizations.
As the live stream neared its end, the smiling Da Wei suddenly paused, as if influenced by some mysterious force. However, he quickly regained his composure.
"Before wrapping up this version preview, let me share a major announcement with everyone!"
With these words, Da Wei tapped on his keyboard, causing a large image to appear on the players' screens. The picture featured only a beautiful silhouette, resembling Cecilia, whom Captains affectionately called "Mother-in-Law."
"This is a new character set to debut in upcoming versions. Captains, please look forward to her arrival!"
Smiling broadly, Da Wei continued. Despite his average professional skills, at this moment, he appeared impeccably composed. No one could discern what he was truly thinking, nor glean any additional information about the new character from his expression.
On the side, Lei Sovereign was slightly taken aback.
Wow, Da Wei, you've been pulling off moves behind my back?!
