Hollywood Showbiz Lord

Chapter-4 : Hoilday House [2]

As each day passes, the week unfolds. 'Finding Nemo' was released nationwide in the US.

Before its release, there was a small-scale promotion over the week, especially of the book cover, which generated a huge reaction among children.

So, when it was released, it was like ants finding something sweet.

On the day of the release, Dean opened the bookstore like any other day.

As a new book only released today, he only had 50,000 copies of 'Finding Nemo'. Which in itself is a large amount. He ordered this much due to the huge pre-orders that came to his store over the week.

But within a few minutes of opening the store

"One Finding Nemo, please. I had a pre-order."

That was the first purchase order of the day, and as more customers arrived, the number of purchase orders increased. By noon, the store was bustling with activity.

"Can I have the book

"Sorry out of stock, Do you need anything else?" said Dean apologetically

"What!!" The customer was dismayed and asked eagerly, "Then can I pre-order for tomorrow."

"Sure," replied Dean.

This kept happening throughout the day after that. Seeing this Dean ordered 200,000 more.

The same thing happened in most bookstores across America. After the book was released worldwide five months later, the same scenario occurred across major cities.

...

The day after his book was released, Richard and his parents gathered in the kitchen, eagerly awaiting news about the sales. His editor called and Hanna, his mother, answered the phone. "Hello. Oh, Austin, you have the results. What? How many? Okay. Thank you, Austin. Yes, I will tell Richard," she said excitedly before ending the call.

"What's the matter, honey?" asked David, Richard's father, curious about the conversation.

"We got the first-day sales result!" replied Hanna, still excited.

"How much? Judging by your expression, it must be a significant amount," said Richard, sitting up straight and preparing for the news.

"It's not just a significant amount, dear. It's 1.5 million," Hanna said.

"What! 1.5 million USD?" exclaimed David.

"Not 1.5 million USD, honey. It's 1.5 million copies," Hanna corrected.

"What!" both father and son were shocked.

"I know, right... It's crazy... hahaha... Son, you became a bestselling author and a millionaire in one day... one day. Hahaha..." laughed Hanna.

Richard never in a million years thought the book would sell this crazily. 'I didn't see it coming.' he thought excitedly.

It was that crazy. But that wasn't the end of it. Instead of dropping, the sales skyrocketed. By the end of the first week, the book had sold over 10 million copies, and within a few months, that number had soared to 100 million.

The sudden surge in sales grabbed the media's attention, and the news quickly spread, making headlines in several major newspapers and news channels. Many media outlets praised the author and the book, with some even comparing the author to famous authors and the book to popular children's literature.

The New York Times said, "Great story, nice progression, nice build-up. And the author has touched my heart with that ending."

The LA Times added, "Great humor, enough elements to make a good children's story. The author is a genius. But who is the man behind this name? The holiday house publication also didn't give any clues."

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly commented, "The best new upcoming author. I am looking forward to his new books. The veil will soon be revealed of this mystery person."

Vanity Fair also chimed in, stating, "A book that can be a classic and an emerging author R.R Jackson looking forward to his new works. But who is this mystery author?"

The media is abuzz as they discuss and search for this mysterious author, creating a nationwide frenzy.

Meanwhile, in a dimly lit rehearsal studio, the culprit was struggling to master a complicated dance move for his upcoming leading role in a stage drama.

"No no no," the choreographer exclaimed, shaking his head. "It's not correct. You could do more than that."

"If this is your best, I think you don't need to participate," he added, crossing his arms with a disapproving look.

"Good. But bend your arms a bit more. Yes, just like that," the choreographer shouted, trying to guide Richard through the sequence.

"Ok," replied Richard, wiping off the sweat that had formed on his forehead from the intense practice.

"Again," he called out, as Richard took a deep breath and prepared to repeat the move.

"One more time," he urged, watching intently as Richard focused on perfecting his technique.

"Do it again," the choreographer demanded, pushing Richard to give his all to the performance.

"Fix your posture, put that foot more on the left," he directed, making minor adjustments to Richard's position.

"Correct, but keep doing it a few more times," he encouraged, seeing improvement in Richard's execution.

"Again!!" the choreographer exclaimed, as Richard continued to practice tirelessly, determined to nail the dance move for the upcoming stage drama.

After the first week of the book release, all the editors at Holiday House are gathering for a meeting to plan the next steps for the new best-selling book.

"Based on our estimates, approximately 12.5 million copies of the book will be sold this week." After delivering an outstanding performance, Austin received a promotion and now, has a seat in the meeting room.

"We are receiving an average of 100,000 orders for this week alone from all shops on both the East Coast and West Coast. It's still increasing," mentioned another member.

"If they are ordering that many, we should increase the per day printing by more than 100,000," replied Harmen.

"After reviewing the sales record, I propose, we start shelving abroad," suggested Austin.

"Does anyone have any objections?" asked Harmen.

"I think we should wait. We should consider selling internationally after maximizing profits from domestic sales," Mike replied.

Mike, who arrived at the same time as Austin, got promoted faster due to strong support internally and finding several moderately popular books. However, seeing Austin succeed with a good author made him jealous.

"If we wait, we will miss a great opportunity. The media is currently hyping this book, so we can easily start international sales without significant promotional costs. Now is the best time," argued Austin.

"Austin is right. Now is the best time. Therefore, I approve the proposal to start the initial stage of international sales," supported Harmen after considering Austin and Mike's arguments.

"By the way, has Richard written any stories lately or will he write any?" asked Harmen.

"As far as I know, he is still writing short stories for the NY Times, which will be compiled into a book called 'My Ocean Stories 2' in a month or two. Additionally, he has outlined a sequel to this book, which he will start writing after his stage drama rehearsals," responded Austin.

"What! He's writing a sequel, so let's prioritize his work as soon as possible when his new short story compilation is ready. Once we have the compilation, let's get it printed as soon as possible. Also, if his asking range is 10% to 20%, then sign the contract quickly," instructed Harmen.

"Don't worry, sir. I will take care of it."

"Is there anything else?"

Silence filled the meeting room.

"I'll take that as a no. The meeting is adjourned."
