Ino launched a series of graceful, quick attacks. Sakura responded, breaking through Ino's defense and they began sparring clumsily like beginners. Iruka noticed and intervened, calling out, "Hey, hey! This isn't real combat!"

Undeterred, Ino and Sakura continued their little rivalry. Meanwhile, Sasuke had his own plan—to team up with Naruto for the upcoming survival training, aiming to leverage their teamwork. However, Naruto instantly rejected the offer, aware that Sasuke's involvement would mean constant challenges. Besides, he wanted to enjoy a peaceful day with Hinata.

When Ino and Sakura realized Sasuke's intentions, they teamed up to turn him away. They agreed Naruto should pick a partner. Naruto looked at Ino, who shyly tossed her golden hair, then at Sakura, who had a competitive edge but was quick to assure Naruto she'd be "no trouble." Naruto decided, "It's you," pointing to Sakura, who secretly vowed to win his heart someday.

Thus, Naruto, Sakura, and Hinata formed a team. The next morning, the group assembled for the survival exercise, which was more a practice in self-sufficiency than real survival. Each team had to pack essentials and spend the night outdoors. Though Naruto's team only had three members, they brought an impressive array of supplies—tents, cooking gear, flint, water, and even insect repellent.

They reached a spot upstream, found a high ground near the river, and set up camp. Their mission was complete without much effort, as it was just basic training. Naruto noticed Sakura behaving calmly, which pleased him. He said to her, "Sakura, keep an eye on the camp. Hinata and I will get water."

As Naruto held Hinata's hand, Sakura's heart sank a little, realizing how close they seemed. She decided to distract herself but couldn't help thinking about Naruto and Hinata as they went off together.

By the river, Naruto and Hinata gathered water, then rested beneath a tree. Naruto laid his head on Hinata's lap, enjoying the peaceful moment and gazing up at her blushing face. Suddenly, Kurama's voice echoed in Naruto's mind, warning, "Someone's coming."

Naruto sat up, sensing Hinata's concern. She asked softly, "Naruto-kun, is everything alright?" He reassured her, saying, "Don't worry. Go back to camp and wait." Hinata, trusting him, activated her Byakugan briefly to scan the area and detected some ominous figures. Knowing she might be more of a burden in a fight, she agreed but chose to find Iruka nearby to get help.

Alone by the river, Naruto was soon surrounded by masked figures dressed in ninja gear. "Are you with the Anbu or Root?" Naruto demanded, noticing their intent. The group ignored his question and closed in, signaling the start of a sinister plan. "Prepare the sealing team!" the lead ninja commanded.

Hearing this, Kurama growled in Naruto's mind, scoffing, "A bunch of weaklings thinks they can seal me?"

The masked group hesitated, unsettled by Kurama's voice. "The Nine-Tails seal is still in place, so we're safe. Just subdue him and begin the extraction."

Kurama's anger flared, flooding Naruto with chakra. "Naruto, show these pests their place!" Kurama urged, and a dark red chakra cloak enveloped Naruto, radiating raw, terrifying energy.

As the Root operatives moved in, a voice rang out, "Stop!" An Anbu member with short, purple hair arrived, drawing her sword protectively between Naruto and his attackers. "I've sent word to the Hokage," she warned the intruders. "Leave now if you value your lives!"

Naruto, recognizing her, tilted his head and asked, "Are you Yūgao Uzuki? You've been watching me?"

Yūgao shot him an exasperated look. "How do you even know who I am? And keep my name to yourself!"

Unfazed, the Root leader scoffed, "It's just one Anbu—dispose of her and proceed with the extraction!" The Root operatives launched an all-out assault, throwing shurikens, summoning swarms of insects, and hurling jutsu in Naruto's direction.
