Chapter 78: Thunder God’s Sword
After hearing the boss's price, Chiba found himself in a dilemma.
He definitely wanted a weapon made entirely of Chakra metal, but the cost seemed a bit steep. After all, his entire savings amounted to just over 200,000 taels. If he commissioned a sword made entirely of Chakra metal, he would be left penniless.
Should he spend this money?
Snap!
Suddenly, someone patted him on the shoulder.
Senju Sousuke's voice came from behind.
"Chiba, what are you doing here?"
"Oh, it's Uncle Sousuke. I came to see if there are any weapons suitable for me."
Hearing this, Senju Sousuke immediately recalled that he had just spoken to Sarutobi Hiruzen about finding a swordsmanship teacher for Uchiha Chiba. However, he had forgotten to provide him with a weapon.
Thinking about this, Senju Sousuke had an idea and spoke in an apologetic tone, "Don't worry about the weapon. I'll take care of it for you."
"Really? That's great. I was hesitating about having the boss craft one." Chiba smiled slightly.
After being reminded by Senju Sousuke, Chiba realized that, since he was training under the Senju clan, his weapons should naturally be provided by them.
"By the way, Uncle Sousuke, why are you here?" Chiba asked curiously. The blacksmith shop wasn't close to the Senju compound.
"Oh, I came to check the account books at the shop nearby. I saw you just as I was leaving, so I followed you," Senju Sousuke said casually.
Uchiha Chiba recalled seeing a store on his way to the blacksmith shop but hadn't realized it belonged to the Senju clan.
"Guest, do you still need a weapon?" The blacksmith, seeing that he was losing a good sale, asked cautiously.
However, noticing the Uchiha and Senju clan emblems on their clothing, he knew better than to press the matter.
"No need, boss," Chiba replied, waving his hand.
With that, he left the shop, and Senju Sousuke followed him.
At a fork in the road, Senju Sousuke suddenly asked, "Chiba, I'll have someone bring you a weapon tomorrow. Do you have any specific requests?"
"No special requirements. Uncle Sousuke, I trust your judgment," Uchiha Chiba replied casually.
After all, as the head of the Senju clan, Senju Sousuke wouldn't give him anything subpar.
Senju Sousuke nodded, already forming a plan in his mind.
......
The next day.
As soon as Chiba stepped out of the Uchiha compound, he saw Nawaki walking toward him, carrying a sword box.
"Oh, Chiba! I was just heading to your house. My dad asked me to deliver this. See if you like it. If you don't, I can take it back and get you another one," Nawaki said, handing him the sword box.
Chiba looked at the box. It was wrapped in fine silk, indicating its value.
"Thank you, I'll take a look."
After taking the box, Chiba opened it.
"My dad told me this was my great-grandfather's personal sword—the Thunder God's Sword. It's made of Chakra metal and meteorite iron, making it incredibly powerful," Nawaki explained proudly.
Senju Tobirama's personal sword?
Uchiha Chiba immediately thought of the legendary Thunder God Sword, similar to a lightsaber from Star Wars. However, in the future, it was stolen by Morino Idate, Morino Ibiki's younger brother, and later taken by the rogue ninja Aoi Rokushō, only to be shattered in battle with Team 7.
Ignoring Nawaki's excitement, Chiba drew the Thunder God Sword.
Buzz!
As soon as the blade was unsheathed, a chilling aura emanated from it.
Even someone like Chiba, who wasn't an expert in swords, could tell this was a remarkable weapon.
"What do you think? Do you like it?" Nawaki asked eagerly.
"Yes, it's definitely worthy of the Second Hokage. It's extraordinary," Chiba praised.
"Heh, of course! This was my great-grandfather's sword!" Nawaki grinned proudly.
After sheathing the Thunder God Sword, Chiba glanced at Nawaki's smug expression and sighed inwardly. But considering that Senju Tobirama was his ancestor, he had every right to be proud.
"Alright, do you need anything else? If not, I'm heading off to train."
Remembering his two-month deadline with Senju Sousuke, Chiba added, "By the way, let Orochimaru-sensei know that I won't be available for missions for the next two months."
"No problem, leave it to me," Nawaki agreed without hesitation.
He knew Chiba needed to intensify his training to prepare for the upcoming Nine-Tails attack, so he didn't question it.
Seeing that everything was settled, Chiba waved and left, carrying the Thunder God Sword.
......
When he arrived at the training ground where he had met Hatake Sakumo the previous day, he saw Sakumo already sitting on the ground.
He came early?
"You're here, Chiba."
Hatake Sakumo noticed his arrival and stood up.
"I'm not late, am I?" Chiba asked with a slight smile.
Hatake Sakumo shook his head. "No, I just came early."
Noticing the sword in Uchiha Chiba's hand, he asked, "Is that your sword?"
"Yes, the Thunder God Sword, formerly belonging to Lord Tobirama."
"May I see it?"
Hatake Sakumo was curious. He had heard his late father mention the Second Hokage's Thunder God Sword, a rare and formidable weapon.
Because of its special composition, channeling Lightning Chakra into the blade would generate a powerful electric current.
"Here." Uchiha Chiba wasn't stingy and tossed the sword to Hatake Sakumo.
Catching the sword, Hatake Sakumo eagerly unsheathed it.
As the cold steel gleamed in the light, he couldn't help but admire it. "A truly magnificent sword."
After examining it for a while, he returned it to Uchiha Chiba.
With a calm yet serious expression, he said, "I hope you do not let this sword down."
"Don't worry. I have confidence in myself." Uchiha Chiba responded with a grin.
"Good. Now that you have your own sword, today's lesson will be different."
"Actual combat? Isn't that too soon?" A trace of hesitation flashed in Chiba's eyes.
Hatake Sakumo shook his head. "Yesterday, you learned the fundamentals of swordsmanship. Lord Hokage tasked me with training you as quickly as possible, so this is the perfect time to begin."
