Hogwarts: The Unscientific Wizard (TL)

Chapter 618: Chapter 618: Some people become lame after being fooled

In the bedroom, Andy leaned half against the headboard, silently reviewing what he knew about Dumbledore.

There wasn't much to tell about Dumbledore's life. He had lost his father, mother, and sister in his youth; his only brother was not on good terms with him, and his once best friend (and lover?) had drifted apart from him.

The centenarian had lived a lonely life.

But he was still tenaciously carrying on and was full of love for life.

Well... what a strong and resilient man!

'What is the secret to Dumbledore's strength?' Andy frowned as he pondered.

Andy had once speculated that the ancestor of the Dumbledore family had stolen the power of a phoenix using magic transfiguration—Dumbledore had not admitted this, but he had not denied it either.

As for whether Dumbledore personally had used the power of a phoenix to carry out magic transfiguration... Andy estimated that he probably hadn't.

This was very unusual.

Normally, Snape's mastery of magic would be the limit that an ordinary wizard could achieve.

This is determined by the natural limits of the human body.

If you want to rise above these limits, you have to use some unconventional methods.

For example... magic transfiguration!

If Dumbledore has never undergone magic transfiguration, then it is very likely that he has made a significant discovery in the study of love.

Because love is also a kind of mental power.

Dumbledore believed that love is the purest form of mental power.

'If it's love... then how did he do it?'

Over the years, Andy has read many books in the Hogwarts library, including some in the restricted section, but none of them explain how to use the power of love.

The few books that introduce love are also ambiguous and seem to be fooling people.

Not only that, there was also the locked room in the Department of Mysteries, which seemed to contain the power of love.

This made Andy feel a little concerned.

'I'd better ask the big boss about it.'

With these thoughts, Andy waved his wand to lock the bedroom door and then cast a muffling charm on the door to ensure that the sound inside would not escape.

After doing all this, Andy took out the Two-way mirror and connected it to Grindelwald's 'video phone'.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Grindelwald," Andy said, greeting him warmly.

Grindelwald: "..."

"Why is it you again? What do you want?" Grindelwald's tone was not particularly pleasant.

He was willing to impart some magical knowledge to Andy because he found Andy quite pleasing to the eye and recognised Andy's talent.

However, his beliefs were different from Andy's after all.

Andy wants to be self-reliant, and in his opinion, the backward and narrow-minded wizarding world is just a distraction.

Grindelwald, on the other hand, has never changed his mind, even after being imprisoned for so many years—he still believes that the rapid development of the Muggle world is squeezing the living space of wizards.

If wizards fail to adapt, they will perish sooner or later.

In fact, no leader would give up their cause just because they lost a duel.

What's so bad about losing a duel?

Just have another go!

Grindelwald gave up everything because, after losing to Dumbledore, he saw no hope of further progress.

He had many supporters.

But there were even more who opposed him.

If he continued to go against the majority, it would only cause the wizarding world to further decline!

Of course, the world's development did not go beyond Grindelwald's expectations—while Muggles' technology was developing rapidly, wizards had always remained stagnant.

Over the years, Grindelwald had even become disillusioned with the wizarding community.

Technology is progressing rapidly.

But magic didn't.

Grindelwald's talent in magic had reached the ceiling, but he had not made the slightest progress over the years.

Because there are limits!

Grindelwald saw a hope after talking with Andy.

Andy proposed the possibility of fusing mind and magic based on the Obscurus Theory, and it was a great success this morning.

After hanging up with Andy this morning, Grindelwald has been trying to figure out how to popularise the 'fusion of mind and magic'.

It's incredibly difficult!

Just because Andy can do it doesn't mean everyone else can.

Just getting the magic back to an unstable state is an insurmountable obstacle.

Magic transfiguration is possible, but the mortality rate is too high.

As for the fusion that follows... that's even more difficult.

Grindelwald concluded that there are two kinds of people who can succeed.

First, people with strong mental powers and will, strong enough to deceive their own magic.

These people are one in a hundred thousand.

Second, one must have sincere emotions and a special set of life experiences to achieve the fusion of mind and magic.

This is even more difficult and can even be described as a fantasy.

To let the environment around a person cooperate with them...unless it's a large-scale studio production as in 'The Truman Show', it's simply out of the question.

So Grindelwald is now very annoyed.

"Er..."

Grindelwald's attitude made Andy pause for a moment, but Andy didn't care about that sort of thing.

"Mr. Grindelwald, what do you think about the concept of love?" Andy asked bluntly.

Grindelwald: "…"

He wanted to hang up.

"Professor Dumbledore believed that love is the purest force of the mind."

Andy continued, "To be honest, I don't think Professor Dumbledore ever gave up his search for Deathly…or rather, the search for the death dimension."

"He once said: For those with a clear mind, death is just another great adventure."

"This is how I understand it: Professor Dumbledore... he may be able to roam freely in the death dimension."

"Except that he is not like us."

"We want to explore the death dimension while we are still alive. But Professor Dumbledore...he wants to explore that world in a soul form."

"What we want is power."

"But Professor Dumbledore... he should only care about the truth."

After a pause, Andy looked at Grindelwald in the mirror with shining eyes. "After my careful consideration, I believe the secret to Professor Dumbledore's power is love!"

"This power allows his soul to move freely in the Death Dimension."

"And..."

Andy spoke at once, listing a lot of things.

These included the Death Chamber in the Department of Mysteries and the locked room.

And Andy's own speculation—that the soul takes a part of the human being's power with it to the Death Dimension.

That power is love!

That's why it's locked away!

If there's no risk of it being taken, who would lock it away?

Love is powerful, but it's not something that should terrify you!

Grindelwald: "..."

Grindelwald and Andy have known each other for a while, and he thought he should now be used to Andy's whimsical ideas. But he never expected Andy to come up with such a ridiculous hypothesis.

Yes, it does sound ridiculous at first!

The clues are far-fetched, and there is no direct evidence.

Andy has 'guessed' all this out, just based on some so-called 'clues'.

But if you think about it... is it really impossible?
