Hogwarts: Please Graduate Soon

Chapter 124: Hogwarts, Please Graduate Soon, Ch 67.4

Even after entering the magical world, Wayne wasn't willing to abandon the wealth within reach. He had also been writing to his uncle Humphrey to make some arrangements. Once the timing was right, he could join the extravagant feast.

As October rolled in, time sped up, and it had been half a month in a blink. With the temperatures dropping gradually, the young witches and wizards became listless, on the brink of a hibernation period. But the professors didn't care about that; they suddenly piled on the homework. The first month of school had merely been an adjustment period, gently transitioning from the summer rhythm, so many classes had moved at a leisurely pace.

However, entering October marked a shift; the professors began to ramp up the intensity. In Transfiguration class, Professor McGonagall gave those little wizards who couldn't even transfigure a toothpick into a needle a stern reprimand, assigning them separate homework as a consequence.

Ron was on the verge of tears. The other young wizards weren't faring much better. With a basic understanding of magic now established, Professor McGonagall began instructing everyone on how to transform living things into inanimate objects.

Holding back their disgust at the thought of worms, the young wizards waved their wands. There were no specific requirements; as long as they could transform something into a living creature, it counted as a success. Hermione, looking green, asked Professor McGonagall for a mouse instead, as she preferred to double the difficulty rather than face a worm.

Most of the other classes were similar. The workload assigned by the professors became increasingly heavy, leaving the young wizards lamenting their fates. Wayne became the envy of all, as he was exempted from homework in Charms, Transfiguration, and Potions.

Some young wizards attempted to negotiate with several professors. Professor Flitwick announced his conditions with a smile: whoever could make a wardrobe tango would be exempt from homework for the year. Unfortunately, no one succeeded.

Professor McGonagall's requirement was simple: turn the podium into a fat pig, just like in her first class. As for Snape… no one was foolish enough to negotiate with Snape, not even the sly Slytherins. Many had secretly asked Wayne how he managed to get Snape to excuse him from homework. He claimed that his talent had impressed the professor, thus saving him time. Very few believed him, especially since Snape glared at him just as much as he did at Harry.

Only when Hermione and Cho asked did he reveal the truth: "I slipped him a vial of Phoenix tears."

"You actually bribed a professor?!" Hermione exclaimed, shocked.

"That's just how the world works," Wayne said, patting her shoulder as he walked away.

The increased workload was not entirely disadvantageous for Wayne. Most of the assignments didn't require his attention, allowing him to enjoy cakes and pastries while others hurried to finish their work, effectively doubling his pleasure.

Additionally, business at the Celia shop was booming; people were coming daily to buy various feather quills. The latest feather pens were made by Fred and George, who had barely managed to figure out the technique but produced such low-quality items that they were only sold for a galleon. However, the volume sold drove Fred and George nearly mad with excitement, as they spent a considerable sum at Zonko's Joke Shop.
