Chapter 12: Winds of Change
Solace wove through the winding paths of the castle with a casual grace that made it seem like the stones themselves guided his steps. Behind him, Aurelia followed, her curiosity battling her natural caution. The echo of their footsteps merged with the faint hum of ancient magic in the air.
He stopped suddenly, turning back with that infuriatingly playful glint in his golden eyes. "Keep up, Auri. The wind doesn't wait for anyone, not even you."
Aurelia huffed but quickened her pace, her reserved demeanor cracking just enough to reveal a flicker of amusement. "I'm coming. Where are we going?"
"You'll see," he said cryptically, motioning for her to follow as he pushed aside a seemingly solid stone wall to reveal a hidden garden.
The space unfolded like a forgotten dream, bathed in dappled sunlight and teeming with life. Enchanted flowers shimmered in vibrant hues, and faint, musical chimes floated in the air, carried by an invisible breeze.
Aurelia's breath caught as her gaze swept over the scene. "This... this is incredible," she whispered, kneeling to inspect a cluster of glowing Moonlilies. Her fingers brushed their delicate petals with reverence. "These are used in healing potions. I've read about them, but I never thought I'd see them."
Solace leaned casually against a tree, watching her with a mixture of admiration and mischief. "You're amazing, Auri. Always reading, always knowing things no one else does."
She looked up, her cheeks tinged pink. "And you're always... you."
He laughed, a sound as wild as the wind that seemed to follow him everywhere. "I'll take that as a compliment."
Aurelia's lips curved into a faint smile. "It is. You're fearless. I wish I had your courage."
Solace's teasing demeanor softened, and his golden eyes held hers. "You do. It's just quieter. Subtler. But it's there."
Before she could reply, he turned abruptly, spreading his arms as if to embrace the wind itself. "Ah, there it is. You hear it, don't you?"
Aurelia frowned, puzzled. "Hear what?"
"The wind," he said, his voice reverent. "It's calling me again. A restless mistress, always tugging me away." He paused, glancing back at her with a sly grin. "Not as temperamental as you, though."
She narrowed her eyes. "I am not temperamental."
His laughter rang out again as he darted into the heart of the garden, his movements swift and unpredictable. The wind whipped around him, tugging at his golden hair like a playful partner. Aurelia watched, caught between irritation and awe, until Solace suddenly stumbled.
He landed on one knee, clutching his side. A faint scratch marked his skin, a result of his reckless dash through the enchanted plants.
"You're hurt!" Aurelia exclaimed, rushing to his side.
"It's nothing," Solace said, wincing but still managing a grin. "The wind's jealous, that's all. Doesn't like me bringing someone else into its secrets."
Aurelia rolled her eyes but placed a hand near his wound, her magic instinctively flowing into him. The scratch mended itself almost immediately, leaving only a faint shimmer of light in its wake.
"Thank you, my ever-temperamental healer," Solace said, his tone mock-serious as he stood.
"Maybe if you weren't so reckless, I wouldn't have to heal you," Aurelia shot back, but there was no malice in her voice.
Solace stepped closer, his gaze suddenly intense. "And maybe if you weren't so remarkable, I wouldn't keep finding excuses to get hurt."
The air between them shifted, charged with something neither could fully name. Aurelia looked away first, her heart fluttering as she busied herself with inspecting more plants.
Solace's shadow lingered over her, the wind tugging at his hair. "I don't like sharing secrets, Auri. Or friends."
Her hands stilled, her voice soft but firm. "I'm glad to be here, Solace."
His smile returned, but his eyes held a flicker of possessiveness. "Good. Because I'm not letting you go."

While Solace and Aurelia wandered the hidden garden, Cedric led the rest of the group through Hogwarts' lesser-known passages.
Ellie's endless curiosity brought life to the tour. "What's behind that door?" she asked, pointing to an ornate entrance with intricate carvings.
Cedric grinned. "That's the old Music Room. It's been unused for years, but legend has it, if you play the right tune, the instruments come to life."
Ellie darted forward, pushing the door open to reveal a dusty room filled with magical instruments. She played a tentative note on the piano, and to everyone's amazement, the other instruments joined in, creating a hauntingly beautiful melody.
"Now that's something you don't see every day," Finnian remarked, clearly impressed.
The tour continued to the Hall of Whispers, a corridor lined with ancient tapestries. Ellie pressed her ear to the wall and gasped. "You can hear them! The castle's secrets!"
Finnian tried, his skepticism fading as he caught faint, ghostly murmurs. Even Marlowe, usually quiet, couldn't hide his fascination.
As Cedric guided the group, Solace's earlier words echoed in his mind. "With your charisma and knowledge, you could be one of the most influential students here."
Cedric's brow furrowed, the idea sparking something in him. Influence... I never thought about it like that.
Solace's casual suggestion lingered, a seed of ambition taking root as Cedric continued leading the group.

The group reunited in the Hufflepuff common room, brimming with excitement.
"That was incredible, Cedric!" Ellie exclaimed.
Cedric smiled, though his thoughts remained on Solace's words. "I'm glad you all enjoyed it."
Solace and Aurelia returned, their quiet adventure deepening their bond. Solace caught Cedric's eye, sharing a knowing look.
"Let's make this year unforgettable," Solace murmured, his smile hinting at secrets yet to unfold.
