Chapter 14: Nighteye`s revelation
Mirai Sasaki, better known as Sir Nighteye, was a tall and lean, yet muscular man with a well-groomed appearance. His black hair had a greenish tint, and his light eyebrows created a contrasting appearance. He always wore glasses and always gave the impression of a serious person.
However, on this night, his sleep was disturbed by terrible visions that seemed to be a painting of cruelty and strange events. In his dream, he saw huge tropical trees and an unknown structure similar to a camp in the middle of a dense forest. Many armed men, screams, blood, and death. Ice and frozen figures. The vision projected a cruelty that he had never seen before. The eyes of this mysterious image looked at him as if they were penetrating the very depths of his soul. The mysterious figure uttered inarticulate words:
"Hi-….mu-…..ra..."
This was clearly one of the clues sent by his quirk. He had to decide whether to intervene given the level of violence and cruelty he saw in his vision. As a professional hero, he had seen many cruelties committed by villains, but this scene was beyond the norm.
The next frames showed more horrific images: An island, a scary creature with tentacles reaching to the sky, a ship in the ocean. Several ships were visible, one of which was labeled JAP0455. The vision then transitioned to an image of a torn photograph that smoothly came together to reveal a family that looked Japanese, but had one thing in common: white hair. The only person in the family had blonde hair. A figure surrounded by flames appeared in the background.
Finally, as if the epileptic seizure of ADHD images stopped. Nighteye fell out of bed and started vomiting, not so much from the stress caused by the quirk, it had already gone beyond its power, but it had to report something important. - H-himura? Who is this? - Nighteye was from the new generation of heroes, and did not know who it was. In a sober mind, from memory, gasping for breath, he rushed to the desk, knocking down some things on his way to draw and write down silhouettes, details, trying to connect them with each other. Particularly highlighting the features of those people in the photo, as well as mutants, the ocean, the ship with its number - "Damn! What was it like there, JAP0455?" - It seemed that he had finished outlining the images, finally decided to dial one of the contacts on the phone.
- H-hello? Toshinori. Sorry for disturbing you at such a late hour, I had a vision again.
- Hmm. I'll be there soon. - It was normal for professional heroes to act at night, since most crimes happen at night. Nighteye could no longer be in the suffocating environment of his home. All Might was a pretty busy hero, but he could find time for his colleague (fan), who had the ability of Foresight and had provided useful information many times.
On the roof of a building in the middle of a huge city stood Sasaki, aka Nighteye. He was anxiously smoking a cigarette, sometimes peering into the light of the city, and only occasionally glancing at a notebook with pictures from the vision. Toshinori, at the peak of his form, quietly appeared on the roof of the building and asked:
- You don't smoke, do you? - The top of Japan leaned against the concrete wall, looking somewhere into the city.
- I don't smoke. - he took a drag. - This time it was... strong. Unusually strong. - All Might was interested in what Nighteye saw with his quirk this time. His Precognition ability sometimes passively affected Sasaki, so such side effects were nothing new, but this time it was more intense than the previous, smaller details.
"I'm afraid something very bad is happening. Take a look." He held out a notebook.
"..." All Might read the most prominent and largest inscription, which united all the other details and images.
"Himura..." He read out loud and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"Do you know who this is?" Sasaki looked at him, trying to understand the meaning of the word.
"It's a rather old and unsightly family, which originated in feudal Japan, long before the advent of superpowers. After the advent of superpowers, they isolated themselves from the rest of the world in their village. Some of its members were very influential, even All For One was afraid to go against them.
- This last name, it looks a lot like... - he didn't have time to finish
- Yes, Nana Shimura, my mentor... - he didn't want to remember, he was sad about her recent death, she was killed by All For One. Toshinori promised himself to defeat this villain. - No one knows about this except me and Gran Torino, can I trust you? - he asked, looking seriously into Sasaki's eyes, from which he cringed a little, not really showing it.
- Actually, I'm talking about Enji Todoroki, or rather about his wife, but of course.
- Ahem... Nana Shimura's husband - he used to be Himura, he just changed his last name, I don't know the reason. The mentor took this last name when she married him.
- And how can this be connected to all this? - he pointed to all the other details of one big puzzle.
- I guess we can start with Angie's wife, Rei Himura, now Todoroki, maybe she knows something about this. But only a little later, maybe next week? - All Might was busy, he had to move from the States, where he was training to be a hero, to Japan after his mentor was killed. Of course, the whole world was watching such an influential hero and with his move, Japan became the center for fans, tourists, media, in general, the center of the world's attention.
Since All Might had more information than the public, which is logical, he also thought about the anomaly that occurred in the village of Shitara, which was wiped off the face of the earth by two unknown objects. Such a small village, in his opinion, also needed heroes, but all the inhabitants were declared missing, he was very sorry to hear that. However, not everyone was missing, an elderly woman named Teruko Himura, a boy named Ryuji Tentshu, and a man identified as Ningen Shuumi, who managed to survive.
After the victims were checked for injuries and taken to the station for questioning, a certain lawyer appeared, representing the interests of an unknown person. After talking to the victims, no one mentioned the incident anymore. Even the prosecutor, along with police chief Kenji Tsuragamae, detective Naomasa Tsukauchi, and other investigators were at a loss. However, they had to release the victims except for Ningen, since he was already under criminal investigation for robbery based on the previous recordings.
Ningen was taken into custody, and the investigators, as well as Toshinori himself, hoped to get some information from him, since this was the only noose they could grab. In the end, this single lead to solving the case remained unsolved, as it was the mysterious lawyer who was now reluctantly forced to defend Ningen's interests. "It's possible that this lawyer's name is fake, or he might be related to All For One or HPSC1," Toshinori thought. "That old lady's last name is Himura again, but she was the victim here, so I doubt they would take out one of their own."
Ningen's trial was about to take place, and all the investigators and heroes involved in the case were eagerly awaiting it. They hoped that by pressuring the lawyer, they could gain more information about the mysterious village and solve the mystery. The tension and anticipation were building, as the trial was an opportunity to get closer to solving the mysterious events surrounding the village.
