Chapter 15: Plans for a Journey
__________
"Are you all watching anime? Mind if I join you?" Sirzechs asked, but before anyone could answer, he was already sitting down beside us, playfully teasing Rias.
"Hello, Lord Lucifer," I greeted him respectfully, following the customs of the devils, after all he is the leader of all Devils.
"Now, now, Maximus, just call me brother," Sirzechs replied, waving his hand dismissively. "After all, we can almost be considered family." and continued to bother Rias.
We chatted for a while, though Sirzechs mostly spent his time playing with Rias, who grew increasingly annoyed with him after a few minutes. She finally started playfully pushing him away to stop his constant pestering, a sight that was, to be honest, pretty adorable. Watching them, I realized how much I'd been working lately. Maybe it was time for a little break myself, almost unknowingly, my devil's genes had made me subtly more .
"Hey, Rias," I said, turning to her, "want to go on a trip? We could visit the human world. I've heard there are plenty of amazing places—mountains, beaches, waterfalls. We could even go hiking or have a picnic. It'll be fun."
Rias's face lit up at the idea. The truth was, I hadn't visited the human world often myself. My first visit was with my father when I was five. Since then, I'd only been back twice, once to accompany Lavinia, and again later on a brief errand. I'd never truly explored it. I was curious about how different the human world was here compared to my previous life, especially with all the supernatural influences that must have shaped it. Plus, it'd be a good chance to scout for promising recruits for my peerage. In the original work, Rias's peerage mostly came together through either luck or strategic maneuvering by people like Sirzechs, something I couldn't count on.
But there were several people with good potential who could be recruited by being involved in Rias's peerage, like Valerie Tepes, another Longinus user, a very crucial one at that, the Sephiroth Graal, was necessary for my future plans, though I would have to make sure to not recruit any more longinus users, since other factions would certainly not allow it and it will cause unnecessary fights . Unlike Rias's situation, I wanted a peerage with both combat strength and auxiliary abilities, so, not everyone needed strong fighting capablity.
For example, someone who could assist with my research would be invaluable—a scientist with an inventive mind, someone who could be convinced to join my peerage with relative ease. As I pondered this, I remembered a perfect candidate from my past life: Stephen Hawking. He was a brilliant mind, a visionary in relativity, black holes, time, and theories on the multiverse, someone I truly did respect and considered a role model. It was a pity that such a great person was physically disabled, almost as if his brains came at the price of his brawns, though all this would actually help me, since I could offer him a perfect devil body beyond any human's reach, for someone physically disabled, it was a massive allure.
And he was also an Atheist, Imagine his reaction to seeing undeniable evidence of gods, devils, and the supernatural. My ability to create black holes, the real possibility of time travel thanks to my powers… it was all bound to spark his curiosity. And scientists, no matter how brilliant, shared one thing in common: an unending curiosity. I could picture him making a literal "deal with the devil," driven by the allure of uncovering knowledge beyond human understanding.
I stopped my thought acceleration there—yes, another application of my time manipulation. What? did you really think I just spaced out in between of a conversation? nope, thinking acceleration was another one of my powers, which, even though seemingly simple was quite an ace, it made physical fights almost like a child's play as I could literally see everything in slow motion. though, for now let's just focus on the trip.
"That sounds amazing! I've never been to the human world, but I've wanted to go ever since I started watching their shows. Let's go! We could even leave today!" Rias's excitement was practically bubbling over.
"Hey, we want to go too!" my sister, Seekvaira, chimed in. "I've never been to the human world either, and I'm sure Lavinia must miss it."
"Well, I wouldn't say I'm missing the human world, but I'd go wherever Maximus goes," Lavinia added with a smile. "And I could be your guide—at least in Italy. I've never really been anywhere else."
"Hey, hey! Don't forget about me!" Sirzechs interjected, practically pleading. "I want to go too! I've been buried in work and could really use a break!"
"Really, Lord Lucifer?" a calm yet slightly amused voice interrupted. "And why do you think you have so much work to do? You postponed it all to spend a week with Rias and did nothing. Now you want another break?"
The voice belonged to a silver haired woman in a maid's costume, the most powerful queen in the underworld, the silver haired queen of Annihilation, Sirzechs' wife and the maid cosplay fetishist, Grayfia Lucifuge . Her silvery hair and maid outfit made her stand out, giving her an imposing elegance. Despite being weaker than me, Grayfia was undeniably one of the strongest figures among the devils. Though she would play as the maid of house Gremory despite being it's daughter in law, I guess Devils really take their desires or fetishes seriously.
After a fair bit of back-and-forth (and Grayfia giving Sirzechs a hard time), we finally reached a decision. We would set off for the human world in a week. Of course, I'd still need to convince my parents, but that wouldn't be too hard—they weren't particularly strict. The trip evolved into something much bigger than I had originally planned, with everyone pushing for a tour around the world spanning two months.
Unfortunately, Sirzechs ultimately couldn't join us, due to both time constraints and political considerations. The leader of the devils couldn't just go on an extended world tour, as the entire world is divided and ruled by different factions. But his queen, Grayfia, would accompany us as both a guardian and protector. My father would likely send Lady Agatha with us as well. Her experience as a former human would be a valuable asset for navigating the human world (well not that I needed that, but hey no one knows about my past life).
With all these plans in place, we finally bid farewell to Rias and made our way home, preparing to persuade our parents for permission. let's make a small goal and recruit at least one peerage member in this journey.
