Chapter 263: Finn: Save Him!
Chapter 263 - Finn: Save Him!
"Shut up, you idiot!" Bete snapped, his face twisting with growing agitation before erupting into full-blown anger.
"How could Ais approve of this nonsense? Don't drag her into your mess just to mess with me!"
"A little bit—!" Tiona stuck out her tongue defiantly, nearly sending Bete into a frenzy on the spot.
"Enough, that's it for now," Finn interjected, his commanding tone silencing both Tiona and Bete instantly.
As the captain of the Loki Familia, Finn's authority was unquestionable.
Even Bete wouldn't challenge his orders outright.
Glaring daggers at Tiona, Bete turned back to the battlefield, focusing on the charging monsters and Mahiro weaving through it.
"Riveria, Lefiya, prepare your magic," Finn said, his eyes fixed on the chaos ahead.
"Finn, are we stealing his monsters?" Riveria asked, frowning slightly.
"No," Finn shook his head. "I just want you to provide support when the time's right."
"He looks at ease now, but wiping out thousands of monsters isn't simple."
Finn was spot-on.
Amid the monster horde, Mahiro moved with effortless grace, dodging attacks as if dancing through a courtyard.
Against a single foe, he could toy with them indefinitely.
But this wasn't one-on-one; it was one against an army.
The mental and physical toll of facing such a horde far exceeded typical encounters—exponentially so.
In a dense swarm, even the simplest dodge was impossible without absolute focus.
Every step risked an attack from all sides.
"He's handling it well now, but there are too many monsters."
"His stamina won't hold up forever if he aims to take them all down," Finn explained.
Mahiro's strength was remarkable.
The Loki Familia recognized his skill; even Finn, a Level 6, couldn't do much better.
But the sheer volume of enemies was the issue.
Every dodge, every strike drained his energy.
Over time, mistakes were inevitable, and against monsters of these numbers, a single slip could be fatal.
Level 3 monsters posed little threat to Finn individually, but facing thousands alone?
Even he wouldn't dare—his stamina couldn't sustain it.
"Lefiya, watch the battlefield and ready a long-range spell," Riveria instructed, nodding at Finn's reasoning.
"Got it," Lefiya replied, her voice buzzing with excitement.
This was her first expedition, and her first glimpse of a monster horde this massive.
She'd expected to merely observe, not support from afar.
Lili, watching from her hiding spot, wasn't overly concerned.
She even found the Loki Familia's presence a bit intrusive.
Two days ago, she had seen Mahiro's full monster-slaying prowess firsthand.
She trusted he'd repeat that feat now.
Suddenly, dozens of monsters circling overhead veered upward, climbing higher before halting midair.
"What's up with those monsters?" Lili muttered, puzzled.
As a supporter unfamiliar with the lower floors, their behavior was a mystery to her.
"Lefiya, Riveria!" Finn's tone sharpened as he called out.
Having navigated the lower floors often, he knew sone attack patterns well—those pauses signaled trouble.
"Lefiya, start chanting!" Riveria ordered, her expression turning grave.
She began her own incantation instantly.
A magic circle flared before her, mana surging as dozens of thick arrows erupted from it, streaking toward the monsters.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The arrows struck true, reducing the monsters to ashes in a flash.
Riveria's magic cut their numbers sharply.
"Y-Yes, I know!" Lefiya stammered, beginning her chant in a fluster.
"Proud warriors, archers of the forest, facing the approaching..."
Compared to Riveria's swift Level 6 casting, Lefiya's Level 3 recitation faltered.
The remaining ten monsters had already gathered mana, flames coalescing in their maws before unleashing a torrent downward.
Whoosh!
The air ignited as fiery pillars rained from the sky, converging midair into a single, devastating strike aimed squarely at Mahiro.
"It's too late—prepare to intervene and save him," Finn said, his face hardening at Lefiya's delay.
"Riveria, ready healing magic and elixirs."
"No need for us to step in!" Bete sneered.
Just as he spoke, a jaw-dropping scene unfolded.
A massive fireball—formed from the monsters combined flames—crashed down, striking its target dead-on.
Yet, within the inferno, Mahiro stood tall, unfazed.
The fireball didn't explode or harm him as expected; it simply dissipated around him.
"He took those monsters flame head-on and walked away unscathed?!" Bete's eyes nearly bulged out of his skull.
Wyverns were Level 3 monsters, not just for their flight but for their innate skills.
They condensed mana into fiery blasts from their mouths—explosive attacks surpassing typical Level 3 power.
While adventurers had some resistance to some elements, that didn't mean they could shrug off such hits.
Even Bete, a Level 5 adventurer, would emerge scarred from a wyvern's flame.
Yet Mahiro stood there, not just intact but radiating vitality.
"What the hell is this guy?!" Bete muttered, stunned.
His sharp vision caught something extraordinary: Mahiro, surrounded by monsters, exuded an overwhelming aura.
His eyes gleamed with an inhuman scarlet, marked by a cross-like pattern.
