Chapter 259: Alerting The Loki Familia!

Chapter 259 - Alerting The Loki Familia!

The next day, Mahiro took Lili and entered the dungeon again.

Mahiro no longer maintained the rapid pace of clearing multiple floors in a day, as he had in the upper and middle floors.

First, the lower floors were vastly larger, and second, he needed to kill monsters.

Following the same strategy as on the 26th floor, Mahiro found an open space on the 27th floor suitable for spawning monsters.

He prepared the Anti-Morbule to draw them in.

"Mahiro-sama, I'll find a safe spot to hide first," Lili said.

Clutching the straps of her oversized backpack with both hands, she scurried off.

Even though she'd experienced this once before, the thought of another monster tide rushing in still made her heart race.

Despite her familiarity with Mahiro's tactics, the sheer intensity was overwhelming.

As Anti-Morbule wafted in all directions across the floor, the surrounding monsters began to converge.

Mahiro had also put in other areas of the 27th floor.

The ground trembled, and a distant rumbling echoed through the dungeon.

Though the lighting was dim, shadowy figures could be faintly seen approaching—some skittering across the ground, others swooping from above.

The deeper into the lower floors one went, the more varied the monsters became.

Alongside humanoid mosters, flying monsters like wyverns appeared.

These monsters weren't the majestic dragons of legend, but their screeching dives and fiery breath made them a formidable threats.

Peering into the darkness, Lili hesitated, then retreated further.

Once she was certain she was out of danger's reach, she found a hidden nook to conceal herself.

Two days ago, a monster had nearly attacked her because of Mahiro's baiting, and she wasn't taking chances.

As a Level 1 weakling, caution was her best defense.

Thanks to taking over the Soma Familia, Lili had brought plenty of life-savings this time, including a morbule to repel monsters.

A well-equipped expedition team trudged onward.

At the front, a flag fluttered, embroidered with a jester pattern—the emblem of the Loki Familia.

Leading the group was Finn Deimne, a high class adventurer and the Familia's captain, known as "Braver."

He gripped the banner as he advanced.

The expedition team included several faces Mahiro would recognize: Tione Hiryute, Tiona Hiryute, Riveria Ljos Alf, and Ais Wallenstein—clad in light armor, her blue outfit accentuating the sword at her waist, her blonde hair flowing in the dungeon's faint breeze.

The group also featured three other prominent high class adventurers: Gareth Landrock, Bete Loga, and an additional member not yet introduced in this scene.

Alongside them was Lefiya Viridis.

Though only Level 3, her exceptional magic made her a standout rear-guard mage within the Loki Familia, where she trained as Riveria's successor.

Despite not being a high class adventurer, her potential as a future pillar earned her a spot in this elite expedition team.

This was the Loki Familia's expedition team, a gathering of Orario's mightiest—one of the strongest Familias in the city.

They'd entered the dungeon yesterday, but as a full expedition team, their progress was slower than a solo adventurer's.

After resting overnight on the safe zone, they'd set out early that morning, descending into the lower floors.

"Hey, have you noticed? There've been fewer monsters since we reached here," Bete remarked, eyeing the group with a puzzled frown after killing a monster with ease.

"Isn't that a good thing? Speeds us up," Tiona replied carelessly.

"Every expedition, we waste time on these small fry. It's annoying."

For a Level 5 adventurer, these monsters offered negligible boost, but clearing them was a necessary chore to proceed.

"Captain, what do you think?" Bete asked, ignoring Tiona's simplistic take and turning to Finn.

"Stay alert," Finn replied decisively.

"Bete's right—the monster activity is off."

"I've never seen this happen so soon after entering the lower floors."

"This expedition might not go smoothly," Riveria added, her tone grave.

"Miss Ais, have you encountered anything like this on past expeditions?" Lefiya asked, gripping her staff tightly.

This was her first lower floor expedition; she usually went in the middle floors.

"No," Ais shook her head.

The Loki Familia racked their brains but couldn't pinpoint the cause.

Unbeknownst to them, someone had recently swept through the floors ahead.

Lower-floor monsters respawned every one to three days, and Mahiro had cleared both the 25th and 26th floors just a day ago—too soon for a full spawn.

On high alert, the Loki familia passed through the 25th without incident and reached the 26th.

Then, the dungeon itself seemed to shudder, a deep rumble reverberating through the walls.
