Highschool DxD: I have a Dimensional Travel System

Chapter 174: Syr, The Trouble Maker!

Chapter 174 - Syr, The Trouble Maker!

Faced with the drunk demi-human's provocation, Mahiro could only laugh and shake his head.

Alcohol had clearly dulled the minds of these adventurers, fueling their desires and loosening their restraint.

"Hey, boy! I'm talking to you!"

The demi-human slammed his wooden mug onto the table and glared at Mahiro with a challenging look.

"Hahaha, yeah! I just saw that kid daring to take advantage of Miss Syr!"

"Miss Syr belongs to all of us!"

"This brat won't be able to handle it—look at him, trembling in fear! Hahaha!"

"Damn it, I wish I could hold Miss Syr's hand too!"

The adventurers nearby burst into laughter, fanning the flames.

They had all witnessed Mahiro and Syr holding hands when entering the tavern earlier.

Besides the delicious food, the Hostess of Fertility was known for its maids.

Every maid was beautiful, but Syr stood out the most.

She had the charm of a girl-next-door and a comforting aura that made her highly popular among adventurers.

For men who battled monsters and faced life-and-death situations daily, such beauty was irresistible.

However, the tavern's rules were absolute, and the establishment's strength was terrifying.

Many adventurers had tried to get handsy with the maids, but all met brutal consequences—they were beaten up and thrown out.

Over time, no one dared to act improperly again.

Still, seeing Mahiro—a seemingly weak and unassuming boy—doing what they couldn't dare to, filled the adventurers with envy and jealousy.

Bound by the tavern's strict rules, they couldn't act themselves, but they gleefully cheered on the demi-human troublemaker.

Mahiro frowned, feeling this was a waste of time. He was ready to throw the drunkard out himself when a gentle voice interrupted.

"Excuse me, what's going on here?"

Syr appeared, holding a tray, her silver-gray eyes glimmering.

Beside her was a blonde maid with a colder demeanor.

Hearing her voice, the demi-human spun around eagerly, puffing out his chest as if showing off.

"Miss Syr! This brat dared to take advantage of you earlier! I'm teaching him a lesson for you!"

"Take advantage of me?"

Syr tilted her head, confusion written across her delicate features.

"No, when did this guest take advantage of me?"

The demi-human persisted, "He was holding your hand earlier!"

Syr blushed faintly but replied calmly, "Oh, that? I took the initiative."

Her words left the demi-human stunned, and the surrounding adventurers went silent for a moment.

"This guest," the blonde maid interjected coldly, "if you have nothing else to do, please return to your seat. Don't disturb other customers."

The demi-human, emboldened by the alcohol, wanted to lash out, but before he could, a booming voice cut through the noise.

"Eat your food, or get out!"

It was Mia, yelling from behind the counter. Her tone left no room for argument.

The demi-human's face turned pale.

His bravado evaporated as he quickly grabbed his drink and slunk back to his seat.

Mahiro shrugged nonchalantly, then turned to Syr.

"Where there's bloom, there's bound to be bees," he said with a playful tone.

"Hmm?" Syr blinked, tilting her head. "Guest, what do you mean?"

Mahiro paused, realizing idioms might not translate well in this world. "Let's just say… beauty tends to attract trouble," he explained.

"Oh?" Syr's cheeks flushed slightly, and she asked happily, "So, do you think I'm beautiful?"

Mahiro was speechless.

When it came to compliments, she was quick to respond, completely ignoring the part about "trouble."

"By the way, here's your dinner," Syr said, snapping out of her shyness.

She placed the tray of food on the table, while the blonde maid set down an additional plate.

Mahiro's eyes widened.

"Is this… my dinner?" he asked, his voice stiffening.

On the table were two enormous plates of food.

Each plate was the size of a washbasin, piled high with food nearly 20 centimeters tall.

There was also a massive drink, easily two liters in volume.

"Yes, this is what you ordered," Syr replied with an innocent blink.

But deep in her eyes, Mahiro caught a sly, fox-like glimmer.

"Do I look like someone who could eat all this?" Mahiro said with a helpless laugh.

"This is nothing! Don't boys have hearty appetites? Besides, the guest should eat more while still growing," Syr said sweetly, her tone brimming with confidence.

Mahiro sighed inwardly.

He could see through Syr's playful black-bellied nature now.

"I think you have some misconceptions about boys," Mahiro muttered weakly.

"Really?" Syr said, feigning distress.

"Does that mean all this food will go to waste? Mama Mia will scold me again if that happens… Please, guest, don't let it go to waste!"

Her silver-gray eyes shimmered with a pitiful expression that tugged at Mahiro's heartstrings.

"Miss Syr, have you eaten dinner yet?" Mahiro asked instead of responding to her plea.

"Not yet," Syr admitted.

"We're too busy during this time, so we usually eat after the rush."

"Why don't you join me, then?" Mahiro suggested with a smile.

His meaning was clear: if she wanted to trick him, she'd suffer with him.
