Highschool DxD: I have a Dimensional Travel System

Chapter 171: A female thief?

Chapter 171 - A female thief?

"Don't run!"

"Stop right there!"

Behind the figure, three tall shadows were chasing like madmen, shouting angrily.

The small figure had no intention of stopping and instead sprinted toward the street opposite the alley.

Mahiro glanced toward the commotion but quickly looked away—it had nothing to do with him.

However, he happened to be standing at the alley's exit, directly in the path toward the street.

The figure ran straight toward Mahiro.

As the small figure approached, Mahiro could see more clearly.

She was less than 1.5 meters tall and was covered from head to toe in a gray-brown cloak.

Even her head was hidden under the hood, making it difficult to see her face.

"Boy, stop her for us!" the three tall, strong men chasing her spotted Mahiro in the dim light and rudely shouted, wanting him to block her path.

Mahiro chuckled softly and stood there as if watching an entertaining show, with no intention of helping.

If they had asked for help in a more polite tone... maybe Mahiro might have done them a favor.

But now, it was none of his business.

The small figure was very fast, leaving the three large men behind and passing right by Mahiro.

"Hmm?"

Mahiro instinctively stepped to the side, as if to make way for her.

However, he certainly did not give way.

"You still want to steal while you're running away?"

"You're quite bold," Mahiro looked at the small figure with a playful expression.

"?!"

She was momentarily stunned. She hadn't expected to miss in such a dark environment.

She raised her head slightly, glanced at Mahiro, and quickly withdrew the small hand that was reaching into his pocket.

"Don't get in the way!" she said coldly, then ran toward the alley's exit without looking back.

"A female thief?" Mahiro shrugged indifferently.

When she raised her head, he caught a glimpse of a face partially hidden by the cloak and hood.

Although he didn't see her fully, judging from her half-covered cheeks, she seemed to be a cute girl.

Mahiro touched the pocket she had tried to reach into.

Inside was his mobile phone.

In his hurry to come to the Dimensional World, he hadn't left it at home and had brought it along.

"Not bad," Mahiro chuckled.

The alley was very dark, yet the female thief had noticed the outline of his mobile phone in his pocket.

Her keen vision and decisiveness made Mahiro find her interesting.

She had talent—though used in the wrong way.

The encounter with the female thief was just a small episode, and Mahiro didn't intend to pursue it for the time being.

Otherwise, given her speed, he could have subdued her in moments.

Besides, since Mahiro had decided not to help the three men chasing her, he naturally wouldn't take action.

"Next time, if I encounter her again, I'll deal with it," Mahiro smiled lightly.

He hadn't dealt with the female thief now, but that didn't mean he wouldn't in the future.

Since she dared to target his belongings, he would have to settle the score.

After the female thief ran past, the three tall, strong men also reached Mahiro.

But when they arrived at the alley's exit, they stopped, looking left and right, unsure of which direction to pursue.

"Damn, she got away!" one of the men yelled angrily.

Opposite the alley's exit was a street.

The street was brightly lit, bustling with people—it was dazzling.

"That's the Valis I earned after fighting for three months!" another man gritted his teeth, eyes filled with anger.

"If I encounter her again, I'll definitely kill her!" the man grumbled indignantly.

Mahiro understood why the men were angry, but it was none of his business.

He decided to leave and find a place to gather information.

"Hey, boy, stop right there!" the third man suddenly turned and shouted at Mahiro.

Mahiro ignored him, turning a deaf ear.

"Stop right there, do you hear me?" the man took a few quick steps and blocked Mahiro's path.

"Go away!" Mahiro glanced at the man.

The man was stunned for a moment; he hadn't expected Mahiro to be fiercer than him.

"I told you to stop that thief just now—why didn't you stop her?" the man demanded, putting on a fierce expression.

The other two men also turned around and blocked Mahiro's way.

Mahiro smirked.

He quickly realized that these guys couldn't catch the thief and now wanted to vent their anger on him.

"I just saw that this boy stepped aside for the thief—he must know her!" another man said, eyeing Mahiro with ill intent.

Mahiro was wearing the school uniform of Kuoh Academy—a stylish, noble-looking dress.

In Danmachi, such attire did exist, but few people wore it.

Most considered it formal wear, and formal wear here was expensive.

The men were adventurers and had seen similar suits in some stores; they weren't cheap.

Seeing Mahiro dressed so well, they guessed he was wealthy.

They planned to extort some money from him.

"Yeah, boy, get that thief to return my stuff, and we'll let you go!" the adventurer who was robbed added greedily.

"Otherwise, don't blame us for being rude!"

"You've wasted half a minute of my time," Mahiro said, glancing at the three without emotion.

"Ah, you're quite arrogant!" one of the adventurers sneered.

"If you don't compensate us, don't even think about leaving today."

"That's right, if you don't pay up, we'll detain you here until that thief returns my things," the robbed adventurer added, determined to target Mahiro.

Mahiro was a bit shorter than the three of them, appearing quite thin, so they weren't afraid at all.

SNAP!

A crisp slap sounded, and one of the adventurers was sent flying.
