Chapter 12: Demonic Power
Chapter 11 - Demonic Power
"It doesn't matter. There's nothing particularly urgent on our side anyway."
The speaker was Rias, the heiress of the Gremory Clan.
After seeing Kiba enter, she showed no sign of blame.
Instead, she smiled gracefully.
"But this is rare. Yuuto is usually the most discipline among us, and today he's the last to arrive."
The black-haired girl with a long ponytail had gentle eyes, and her entire demeanor evoked the image of a Yamato Nadeshiko.
One couldn't help imagining that she would make a perfect wife in the future.
This girl was Akeno Himejima, Rias's childhood friend who had grown up alongside her.
"Yuuto-senpai, did something good happen to you today?"
The girl with short silver hair stared at Kiba expressionlessly.
Then, as if noticing something unusual, she asked immediately.
Her name was Koneko Toujou, and she was a Nekoshou.
With her heightened senses, she had quickly picked up on the unusual feeling emanating from Kiba today.
"It looks like Yuuto really is in a good mood today," Rias added.
"Um..."
Kiba let out a dry laugh and asked, "Is it that obvious?"
"Yeah," Akeno looked up with a smile.
"What happened before you came here?"
"It's not really a big deal," Kiba explained.
"I met a transfer student, showed him around our school, and we had a good conversation."
"A transfer student?" Rias sounded slightly puzzled.
"Yes." Kiba shot Rias a somewhat strange look but decided not to mention that the transfer student had actually come to pursue one of her friends.
Such matters could be sorted out once the new semester began.
"He's going through the transfer procedures."
"He took advantage of the vacation to come early and familiarize himself with the environment, but the guard stopped him at the gate, so I acted as his guide."
"Ah, it seems this transfer student must be something special, to earn your approval," Akeno said with a smile.
"If there's a chance, I'd like to meet him."
Kiba was very popular among the girls at Kuoh Academy, and conversely, he was something of a public enemy for the boys.
Though well-liked, he didn't have many close male friends aside from the peerage he was already part of.
Hearing that he had a positive encounter with a boy who might become his friend put everyone at ease.
"All right, let's stop chatting now," Rias clapped her hands lightly.
"Let's report on your business over the summer vacation."
…
After leaving Kuoh Academy, Yukio quickly returned to his hotel room.
"System, use middle-class demonic power."
In the next moment, he felt a powerful energy surge within him.
Initially, this force felt wild and volatile, as if it were expanding inside him like a gas under pressure, searching for an outlet to burst free.
However, after a while, the violent sensation gradually settled down, and the intense swelling in his body subsided.
Yukio could clearly feel the power blending seamlessly with his being.
Just like the Hell fire, it now felt like an extension of his own body—something he could control effortlessly with a mere thought.
WHOOSH—!
A bright flame danced in Yukio's palm.
"Now that I have middle-class demonic power, I don't experience the obvious energy drain like before," Yukio mused.
"Also, I think my physique has improved a lot," he noted.
The change was significant enough that Yukio could sense his strength had increased, and he no longer felt any strain.
"Demonic Power…" Yukio quickly grasped the key principle.
Demonic Power, at its core, could be considered a manifestation of one's life force.
The stronger a person's body, the more power they could hold.
By suddenly gaining power equivalent to that of a middle-class Devil, part of that external energy had strengthen his physique.
It was like pouring boiling water into a container: if the container were too weak, it would deform.
But if part of that boiling water transformed the container into something sturdier—like ceramic—then holding the remaining water would pose no problem.
"Now, even if I face some stray Devils, I shouldn't need to be afraid," Yukio thought excitedly.
