Chapter 16: Chapter 15 - The Ritual's Results

Unknown location –

POV: Kokabiel –

"Damn him…" I whispered.

"Damn that abominable human!!!" I smashed my fist into the wall, breaking it. I had it, my plan was working perfectly before that mortal ruined it!

I'll kill him, I swear it. "I swear upon the name of God almighty, I will destroy him!!" I hit the wall again.

I looked out from my throne at the many stray exorcists and fallen angels that I had under my command, they had been working on a number of devices in the direction of Galilei. A weapon that will allow me to destroy that human and even Azazel…

I could still start another war, I just needed to find the right moment to force everyone on the same playing field. Kuoh Academy… It was the perfectly place to get the Satan Lucifer, Michael, and Azazel in one place at the same time. Once I do, I'll be able to activate the weapon and destroy them all in one fell swoop.

The perfect opening move for a perfect war...

"Galilei!" I shouted. Out of the crowd of workers comes an old man dressed in Bishop robes.

"Yes, Lord Kokabiel?" He said in a calm tone.

"Have you heard any news on the current location of the Excalibur's yet?"

"For now, all I know is they are currently in the Vatican under heavy guard. Eventually they will be moved, but for now we should be cautious." I had half a mind to just bust down the doors of the Vatican and take Excalibur's, but I have no idea what I'm getting into.

However, the moment those Excalibur's leave the Vatican vaults I am going after them…

Then with my little bird in Kuoh, I have all the information I need on that the Gremory bitch and that human dog. Especially his little mission to save some girl from the church, it's the perfect opportunity.

Once the time is right I'll crush them all...

Hiyama's mansion, Kuoh town –

POV: Hiyama Oreki –

With a nod, Kala and Mittelt initiated the process and instantly the room became thick with Magic Power. The red crystals floating around the device grew slightly brighter as ethereal wisps of red energy entered them from the surroundings. It wasn't long until the floating crystals had red energy wisps go from them to the floor of the device, powering the healing stone and red light began tracing up the stone table and headboard to the primary crystal.

It stayed like that for a few minutes as the crystals gathered more and more power, once the healing stone and primary crystal gained enough energy a red wisp reached out from it and connected to Raynare's chest.

This was the moment of truth…

I gathered the Voice on the off chance I needed to stop the ritual and waited. She was clearly uncomfortable but made no moves for the first minute.

"We are at 30% energy flow, master" Mittelt said. "Should we increase the flow?"

"Raynare?" I called.

"Yeah, increase it." Raynare returned. I nodded at Mittelt for her to continue. The red crystals began to grow brighter as the wisps of energy began to become more concentrated and faster.

40%...

50%...

Raynare bore a pained expression as she clenched her teeth.

60%...

70%...

Suddenly a cry of pain rang through the room, and all hell broke loose….

--------------------------------------------------------------

POV: Raynare –

"Aaahhhhh!" I cry out in pain.

"St- pr- Now!!!" I heard someone say. The pain was overwhelming, but I could feel it working.

"Wait! I can do it! Aaaggh! I can do it… I promise!" I shouted out shakily.

I couldn't hear what was said next, if anything, because I was shrouded in sensory deprivation. I could feel the Magical Power entering my body, forcing my capacity beyond its limitations. The pain was so great my senses completely blacked out. I couldn't see, hear, smell, or even feel the stone table. I could feel my muscles being torn apart and put back together, I could feel the Magic Power surging violently through my body and soul.

It took what felt like an eternity, but eventually I felt the pain fade. With the subsiding pain I regained my sense, opening my eyes I saw everyone standing over me looking with concern. I turned my attention to my body, more specifically the thrum of power coursing through me…

My Magic and Light Power more than doubled, I should be high mid-class now at least if not more. My physical body hadn't changed in appearance much, but that was expected considering I was an angel. However, I could still feel the physical strength that I had. It wasn't as big of an increase as my Magic and Holy Power, but it was still noticeable.

I looked to the others, "It worked…" I smiled as they looked relieved.

"I'm next!" Mittelt shouted.

"Like hell, you didn't even help!" Kala shouted back. They began to bicker over who went next, even having Shiori enter the fray. I looked at Hiyama who was smiling at me.

Sitting up I looked at him, he is so handsome when he smiles. I take him into my arms and hug him close to my chest.

"Master… Thank you, none of this would be possible without you." I was genuinely grateful.

He looked up from being enveloped in my cleavage to say, "Believe it or not it was mostly you. I just expedited the process."

"Regardless, you have helped me get into a mindset to take advantage of my talents. Now we can all grow stronger." The device had a limit in how much it could increase our strength, but it is more progress than I've made in a thousand years.

It was a while before the other three stopped fighting, but Shiori was next as expected. She found the process much easier than me; she was already stronger than me. When Kala and Mittelt's turn came up, the master decided to lower the energy flow. So, the process for them was much easier; Kala and Mittelt may not have survived a full energy flow yet…

Though the change for Mittelt didn't seem as much as it should for her being the weakest amongst us.

But regardless we definitely did something extraordinary with this…

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hiyama's room, Hiyama's mansion –

POV: Hiyama Oreki –

The rituals increased the strength of the fallen and Shiori went late into the night. Of course, I was stronger than the device could make me, so I didn't use it. The fallen Trio should each be mid-class now, with Raynare being on the high end of mid-class and the other two being slightly above average. Shiori was already that strong, so the ritual probably pushed her further into high-class but not quite at the middle of high-class.

I found myself robbed of any sleep. So, I decided to catch up on some reading with thought acceleration. I felt restless as of late, I guess it had something to do with the impending mission to save Tosca. I was essentially inviting some of the powerful members of the church to kick my ass. So, I did some reading to further practice my biomancy.

The cell manipulation spell overall wasn't complicated to learn, all it did was manipulate cells to do things. The problem is control. Trying to make a functional mouth on a part of the body that it didn't belong on was difficult.

Most of the books Mittelt got from the Grigori were mundane spells; useful to know, but I could do better with Logos Reverie. From various basic elemental spells to energy manipulation. Mittelt had gotten a few more books on Biomancy, or Body Magic.

It was more of a biology textbook after a certain point, once you learned the basics of moving cells and changing them it became a matter of how to make functional body parts with them. After a while I chose to just move to the internet and read entire research papers on the oral region.

Feeling that I knew everything I could about mouths- God that sounded weird… I decided to do something else.

Slipping into my training gear, I made my way to the private gym in the lower floor of the mansion. The room was quiet, save the faint hum of magical wards reinforcing the walls, designed to withstand the strain of enhanced physical activity. Azazel had really hooked this place up with all the bells and whistles.

"You're up late." A voice called from behind as I began stretching. I turned to see Raynare leaning against the doorway, her arms crossed. "I thought I'd find you here."

"Could say the same for you," I replied, continuing my stretches. "Joining me, or just observing?"

She smirked. "I'll spar with you." I'll need to hold back obviously, I wouldn't want to damage my relatively new servant.

Raynare stepped inside as she put on her own training gear. We began with light stretching, side by side. I could feel her eyes occasionally flicker toward me, measuring me up. I still maintained my muscular physique, despite not working out. The power of Logos Reverie made it incredibly easy to strengthen myself, so I mostly didn't need to workout.

I was interested in seeing how powerful Raynare was after the ritual. Her combat style heavily relied on use of Light powers, Kala and Mittelt were more melee oriented. We finished stretching and then stood across from one another in the large open middle of the training room.

She summoned a spear of light in her hands, "I am interested to see how strong I am now."

Without warning, she hurled the spear directly at me. I leaned aside, the projectile grazing past my shoulder. Before it could dissipate, Raynare had already formed another, charging forward with blinding speed.

I sidestepped, pivoting on my heel to deflect the thrust with my palm. Her movements were precise, but Thought Acceleration let me stay ahead, tracking the minute shifts in her stance. I countered with a sharp jab toward her midsection, but Raynare twisted, catching my wrist.

"You'll need more than that," she whispered, tightening her grip.

I dropped my weight, breaking free with a sharp twist before stepping inside her guard. A knee shot toward her ribs, but Raynare manifested her wings, which were now six in total, to block my attack. She pushed back on me hard to get some distance.

She capitalized on the distance, summoning multiple spears of light above her. In practiced silence she unleashes a barrage.

Instead of dodging I said, "Dissipate!" The spears immediately exploded into particles of light. It seems she grew quite a bit, if this were yesterday she would be done already.

Deciding to get a bit more serious I gathered the Voice, "Don't move." She was instantly frozen before she could act again. In an instant I was already inside her guard and this time successfully delivered a knee to the gut.

I dropped my weight, breaking free with a sharp twist before stepping inside her guard. A knee shot toward her ribs, but Raynare manifested her wings, which were now six in total, to block my attack. She pushed back on me hard to get some distance.

As she retreated, she spread her six wings wide, their dark feathers shimmering faintly with a mixture of magic and light energy. With a flick of her wrist, she conjured a circle of glowing sigils beneath her feet. Light surged upward, forming several spears at once.

"I'm not done," she declared, flinging them in rapid succession. Each spear twisted mid-air, angling unpredictably.

I lifted my hand lazily. "Dissipate." The spears shattered into fragments of light before they could reach me. Raynare's eyes narrowed as she circled me, weaving more magic into the room. Chains of light erupted from the ground beneath me, but they snapped apart the moment they coiled around my limbs.

Her frustration was fleeting, replaced by determination. She dove toward me, light gathering at her fingertips to form twin daggers. This time, she didn't hesitate to strike up close, slashing at my torso with fluid precision.

I caught one dagger mid-swing, twisting her wrist to disarm her. "Slow."

Raynare beat her wings hard, generating a gale strong enough to force distance between us. As she soared upward, she opened her palms and rained down beams of light.

"I see the ritual was effective, even more than I expected. You're high-class for sure…" I mused, sidestepping as the beams carved craters into the floor. When I met her gaze again, her grin was undeniable.

"Focus on beating me instead of talking." she shot back. I see what this was, she was trying to prove herself.

Deciding to get a bit more serious, I gathered the Voice. "Don't move."

Her body locked in place mid-air, wings spread but frozen. In the blink of an eye, I was already inside her guard, and this time, my knee found its mark in her gut. Raynare staggered to her knees, coughing viscously.

"Damn… I should have kept my mouth shut." She said, clearly very hurt by the strike.

"I thought you wanted to see how strong you are now," I replied calmly.

She wiped her mouth, summoning another spear of light while getting up.

Raynare spun the spear, its light intensifying until the blade vibrated with unstable energy and flattened into a disk. Throwing the light disk at me, she suddenly snapped her fingers causing the disk to shatter into multiple shards. I would've been taken off guard if not for Thought Acceleration.

I advanced through the storm, weaving between the shards. One clipped my arm, slicing fabric but failing to pierce my skin. Her speed was increasing, the strikes flowing more seamlessly, but it was still not enough.

Closing the distance, I grabbed her ankle mid-flight, swinging her down hard enough to crack the reinforced floor. Dust erupted from the impact, but before it cleared, her wings lashed outward, creating a barrier of light between us.

Raynare emerged from the dust cloud, breathing heavily but still poised for combat. "You're too lenient." She knew I could have ended the fight right then and there but chose not to.

"And you are too eager." I allowed a flicker of approval to show. She was adapting to her strength, faster than expected.

As she readied her next attack, I raised a hand. "Enough." The room stilled, and Raynare halted mid-motion, lowering her spear reluctantly. "You've grown, but further sparring won't help until you've had the opportunity to think through your fighting style."

She nodded in reluctant agreement, before she said goodnight. Having nothing else to do I return to my bed to sleep.
