He’s the Legendary Guard, Isn’t He?

Chapter 196

Chapter 196

“Honestly, I’m a little nervous.”

Si-hyun muttered.

It was his first time facing so many monsters alone.

The steadily increasing numbers seemed comparable to the horde of Undead that had invaded Ganghwa Island.

This was definitely no ordinary Abnormal Gate.

A much more dangerous feeling washed over him.

He had to hold the line, no matter what.

There wasn’t even time to wait for help from outside.

It was clear that those inside would be left without a trace by the monsters.

Si-hyun glanced back.

The BarriGate and Guard Post he saw would be insufficient to hold back the monsters.

The External Gate was different from the Main Gate.

It couldn’t be perfectly sealed like the main entrance.

Still, he had to hold the line for now.

If the monsters got through now, the staff who hadn’t managed to escape would surely be slaughtered.

He couldn’t let even a single one in until the staff were safe behind the Main Gate.

To do that, drawing strong aggro was essential.

Si-hyun unleashed a terrifying shout of the fearsome Guard.

“Come here—!! You punks—!!”

Si-hyun’s voice echoed loudly.

The monsters, already glaring at him, rushed forward as if his shout had been the signal.

“Keerik!”

The flying monsters were the first to charge in.

Various grotesque bird-like monsters, including Gargoyles, swooped down with sharp beaks and claws glinting.

The onslaught from all sides was simply unmanageable and impossible to evade.

From the beginning, Si-hyun wasn’t thinking about blocking or dodging the monsters’ attacks.

If Hyris were here, she might have been able to use a shield to prevent even a single attack from such a horde.

If it were the Sword Master, he might dodge all the attacks with transcendent techniques.

But this was not Po-ahim’s style of fighting.

Po-ahim had no 9-class magic or refined swordsmanship.

Only his body!

Just his body!

He would take them all on with brute force!

That was the nature of Po-ahim’s fight.

Scree!

Numerous sharp claws from bird-like monsters dove at Si-hyun all at once.

It felt like his entire body was about to be torn apart like a rag.

But Si-hyun ignored the other monsters and focused solely on the Gargoyle barreling toward him.

With a vertical swing, he brought down the Guard Baton.

Whoosh!

Crack!

The Gargoyle’s skull shattered upon impact with the Guard Baton.

It didn’t even scream before it dropped dead.

Meanwhile, sharp claws and beaks rained down on him from all sides.

Clang!

Clang!

Clang!

Though they merely hit flesh and bone, the sound was as if he collided with steel.

Surprisingly, the monsters’ attacks couldn’t penetrate his body even a little.

Si-hyun chuckled.

He felt no pain whatsoever.

This was it.

Just like this.

Thud!

Thud!

With a joyful expression, Si-hyun swung the Guard Baton, smashing the heads of bat-like and owl-like monsters.

That was just the beginning.

Si-hyun even wielded a second Guard Baton in his left hand.

It was the Fourth Guard Baton of Po-ahim.

Then, with a storm-like momentum, he relentlessly shattered the bird monsters’ heads.

Thud! Crack! Crack! Thud! Thud!

Blood and brain matter splattered everywhere.

Attack!

Only attack!

Not caring about defense at all, Si-hyun massacred the monsters.

Every attack he made brought to mind the concept of taking enemies out together, as if he had forgotten about his own life.

Yet, his body was sturdier than any fortress.

At first, the monsters had rushed forward aggressively, but upon seeing the growing pile of shattered corpses, their morale visibly dwindled.

Weaker monsters had already discarded any intent to attack.

Even powerful ones like Ogres and Trolls shrank back, flinching at every move Si-hyun made after over ten of their kind lay slain.

Si-hyun looked at those monsters and took a moment to catch his breath.

Although he was not tired in the least due to his incredible stamina, it was a habit he couldn’t shake.

‘If I keep going like this…’

There would be no problems.

He felt confident he could take on thousands of those monsters.

He wasn’t worried at all about whatever boss lay at the Gate.

What bothered him was only one thing.

Monsters like that man who had nearly killed him before—the Demon King from the Demon Realm.

He knew he had become immensely stronger.

He could feel that power coursing through him.

However, he still hadn’t faced anyone at the level of that Demon King.

If such beings appeared, Si-hyun planned to be as cautious as possible.

Fighting recklessly like he was now could truly lead to his demise.

As Si-hyun was organizing his thoughts and about to raise the Guard Baton again, a voice came from the direction of the Gate.

“What the hell is this?”

A man with blue hair looked at the monster corpses in disbelief.

It was Jin, the Wind Demon King.

Si-hyun’s gaze swiftly turned towards him.

Soon after, another man emerged from the Gate.

The Gray-haired Man.

An unmistakable show of anxiety crossed Si-hyun’s face.

That was a face he could never forget.

He had been on the verge of death at this man’s hands.

The pain from that moment was still vivid.

“Hey, Renchik. Look at what your minions have become. They’re all dead, lying around.”

Renchik’s face twisted in anger.

Having sent almost all his kingdom’s forces for this long-anticipated revenge, to see them die in such a miserable state was infuriating.

“Damn it. I suppose that woman has already arrived.”

Renchik muttered bitterly.

Originally, he had planned to use the man who seemed like a pillar to her as a hostage to psychologically torment her.

But it seemed, by bad luck, she was here.

“What nonsense are you spouting? It’s obvious that guy did this.”

Jin gestured with his chin towards Si-hyun.

“What?”

Renchik’s gaze fell on Si-hyun.

“Huh? That guy?”

Renchik recognized Si-hyun too.

The one who, like a prized treasure, seemed to be cherished by that monster.

“But… huh? That can’t be possible?”

Renchik glanced back at the corpses of the monsters, tilting his head in confusion.

He knew the level of Si-hyun’s abilities well from his previous encounter.

While he was somewhat competent for a human, there was no way he could slaughter this many monsters.

“I have a question. Are you alone?”

Renchik asked in a commanding voice, still treating Si-hyun as a lesser being amongst the Demon kin, yet he remained a noble king before other races.

“And if I am?”

Si-hyun replied coldly.

He couldn’t help but feel nothing but resentment.

“Alone? How could a mere bug turn my warriors into this state?”

“See for yourself.”

Thud.

Si-hyun provocatively slammed the Guard Baton into the ground.

“You arrogant fool.”

Renchik’s face contorted with rage.

He now felt that even a pathetic creature like Si-hyun was disregarding him.

“I’ll have to rip you apart and give your limbs to that woman as a gift.”

“Quit flapping your gums and come at me.”

“You bastard!”

An overwhelming killing intent emanated from every part of Renchik’s being.

At the same time, the one remaining hand of his ignited with a deadly Black Flame.
