Chapter 3: chapter 3
2020, February 19th.
Inside the dimly lit meeting room, a tense silence hung over the table as the country's most important leaders sat in a circle. The President, with a grave expression, rested his clasped hands on the table. Around him were defense ministers, high-ranking military officials, and other cabinet members, each wearing a face that spoke of suppressed fear and confusion.
At the head of the room stood Satoru, the Defense Minister, his stance rigid. A large screen behind him cast an ominous glow, showing a still image that appeared blurry yet unsettling. He nodded to his subordinate, signaling him to proceed.
The screen flickered, displaying a distorted image of a monstrous figure standing on the deck of a warship. The picture was unclear, but the sheer size and menacing shape of the creature were undeniable.
Satoru stepped forward and addressed the room. "Exactly 7:34 AM this morning, we lost contact with the crew aboard the 23SU Warship," he said, his voice steady but heavy.
The image changed, showing a blurry figure floating above the scene, its features indiscernible except for one chilling detail—a wide, predatory smile that seemed to pierce through the poor resolution.
"This is one of the last images we received before the connection was severed," Satoru continued, gesturing to the screen. "Along with it, we managed to recover a voice recording. I must warn you, it's not easy to listen to."
He nodded again to his subordinate. The room filled with static for a brief moment before a chilling exchange played out:
"You… you devil!" a man's voice—filled with desperation—screamed.
A cold, female voice responded, calm and laced with disdain. "Devil? No," she said, her tone like ice.
"I am the Herrscher. The apostle of a god. And you, human, are nothing but an insect."
The recording devolved into chaos. Horrific growls echoed, followed by gut-wrenching screams of pain and terror. The sound of bones snapping and flesh tearing sent a shiver down the spines of everyone in the room.
"Stop it," Satoru ordered sharply, cutting the recording short.
The room descended into an oppressive silence. No one dared to speak as the weight of what they had just heard settled over them.
Satoru took a deep breath, his expression grim. "This… is what we're dealing with. We don't know what it is. We don't know where it came from. But what we do know is that it's powerful. The 23SU Warship and its crew were annihilated in minutes. This... 'Herrscher'... whoever or whatever it is, poses an unprecedented threat to humanity."
The President leaned forward, his face pale but resolute. "Do we have any idea how to counter this?"
Satoru shook his head. "Not yet. We're analyzing what little data we've recovered, but it's clear this being—this Herrscher—is unlike anything we've ever encountered. Conventional weapons may be useless."
One of the other ministers, a woman in charge of international relations, leaned forward, her voice trembling slightly. "Are we dealing with… some kind of alien threat? Or is this a new weapon developed by one of our rivals?"
Satoru hesitated before answering. "We don't have enough information to make that determination yet. But based on the footage and the recording, this isn't something we've seen before. The reference to being an 'apostle of a god' and the… biological creatures described by the survivors before contact was lost suggest this could be something entirely beyond human technology or understanding."
Another minister, his voice shaky, spoke up. "And the… the creatures? The ones in the background of the recording. What are they?"
Satoru hesitated. "They appear to be some form of reanimated humans—zombies, for lack of a better word. Victims of this entity's energy, transformed into her servants. We believe it's some kind of biological or energy-based corruption."
The president leaned back in his chair, his fingers steepled as he processed the information. "If this 'Herrscher' can create creatures like the ones we've seen on the deck and unleash such devastation… then we may be facing a threat far greater than any nation can handle alone."
The room grew even quieter as the leaders processed the magnitude of the threat. The image of the smiling figure on the screen remained, looming over them like a dark omen.
Finally, the President broke the silence. "We need to prepare for the worst. Mobilize every available resource. If this 'Herrscher' plans to attack us… we must ensure that the safe of our country."
The president his expression grim. "Satoru, you'll take charge of organizing a special task force to investigate and, if necessary, eliminate this threat. Mobilize the best soldiers and scientists we have. Spare no resources."
"Understood, sir," Satoru replied with a resolute nod.
The president's gaze swept across the room, meeting the eyes of every minister present. "We are facing an unprecedented threat, one that could jeopardize the future of humanity itself. Failure is not an option."
The room erupted into murmurs of agreement, but deep down, every person present felt the cold grip.....
The weight of his words hung in the air as the meeting ended, and the ministers began to leave the room with heavy hearts.
Satoru remained behind, staring at the screen one last time, his eyes lingering on the haunting image of that wide, sinister smile.
"Herrscher… what are you?" he thought grimly.
--------------------------
Inside the house, a mother and daughter laughed together, their voices filling the warm, cozy room.
"Mom, Dad will be back home soon! I can't wait!" the little girl exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy.
The mother smiled, gently tickling her daughter. "Yes, sweetie, Mom can't wait either. When he gets back, I'll cook your dad's favorite food. He's going to love it!"
Their laughter echoed as they played, their happiness seemingly unshakable. But then, a sudden knock at the door interrupted their moment.
The mother paused, her smile fading slightly. "Stay here, Sara," she said softly, rising from the floor. "Mom just needs to check who's at the door."
Sara nodded, returning her focus to her toys, unaware of the unease creeping into her mother's heart.
The mother, Olivia, approached the door and opened it. Standing on her doorstep was a man in uniform, his face solemn and eyes heavy with something unspoken. It was Satoru, the defense minister.
"May I come in?" he asked, his tone gentle yet grave.
Olivia hesitated for a moment before nodding. She stepped aside, motioning him toward the living room.
Satoru entered and settled onto the sofa, his posture stiff. Olivia followed, sitting across from him, her hands clasped tightly in her lap.
"Minister," Olivia began cautiously, "may I know why someone of your rank has come to visit me personally?"
Satoru closed his eyes briefly, struggling to find the right words. He took a deep breath, his voice low and steady. "Olivia… the wife of James," he began, his tone formal yet hesitant. "I need you to remain calm, no matter what I'm about to tell you."
Olivia's unease deepened, but she nodded, her heart pounding in her chest.
Satoru reached into his briefcase and pulled out a folder, handing it to her. "I'm sorry," he said softly, his words carrying the weight of something irreversible.
Olivia took the folder with trembling hands, her breath hitching as she opened it. Her eyes scanned the contents, her mind racing to make sense of the words on the pages.
Her hands froze. Her eyes filled with tears as they darted to a single, damning sentence.
Satoru broke the silence. "Today, at 7:34 a.m., your husband, James, was confirmed dead. I'm deeply sorry for your loss."
Olivia's tears began to fall, staining the papers in her hands. She shook her head, her voice trembling. "No… no, you're lying. He would never… he promised he'd come home!"
Her grip on the folder tightened as she clutched it to her chest, her sobs growing louder.
Satoru lowered his gaze, his voice soft yet firm, carrying the weight of his authority and the truth. "I wish I were lying, Olivia. But the evidence leaves no room for doubt. James's warship was attacked, and no survivors were found."
Olivia shook her head vehemently, clutching the document in trembling hands. Her tears streamed down her face as she whispered, "No... no, this can't be true. He promised he'd come home. He promised!"
Her voice cracked, and she gripped the edge of the sofa as if trying to steady herself against the storm of emotions crashing through her.
Satoru leaned forward slightly, his face etched with sympathy. "I know how much he meant to you and your daughter. He was a brave man, Olivia. He fought until the very end."
But Olivia wasn't listening. Her mind raced back to their last conversation, to the promises James made, to the laughter they shared as a family. Her chest felt tight, her breaths coming in shallow gasps.
The sound of small footsteps snapped her out of her spiraling thoughts. She looked up to see her daughter, Sara, standing in the doorway with her favorite toy clutched to her chest.
"Mom?" Sara's innocent voice trembled as she looked between her crying mother and the stranger sitting across from her. "Why are you crying?"
Olivia's heart broke all over again. She tried to wipe her tears quickly, forcing a shaky smile. "Sara, sweetheart, come here."
Olivia looked at her daughter, her heart breaking all over again. She didn't know how to tell her little girl that the man they had both been waiting for would never come home.
Satoru sat in silence, his expression unreadable but his heart heavy. He had delivered countless messages like this before, but it never got easier. He looked at Olivia, the pain in her eyes a stark reminder of the cruelty of the world.
After a long moment, Olivia looked up at Satoru, her eyes red and swollen. "What... what attacked them? Who did it?"
Satoru hesitated before answering. "We're still investigating. The details are... complicated. But I promise you, Olivia, we will find the one responsible for this, and they will pay for what they've done."
Olivia held Sara closer, her tears falling silently as she nodded.
Satoru rose to his feet, his expression grim. "If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to reach out. We'll do everything we can to support you and your daughter during this time."
He turned to leave but paused at the door, glancing back at the grieving mother and daughter. For a brief moment, he considered telling her about the chilling figure and the horrifying recording. But no… it was too much. They didn't need to know the full extent of the nightmare that had taken James from them.
As Satoru stepped out into the cold air, he clenched his fists. "Herrscher," he muttered under his breath. "You'll pay for this. No matter what it takes."
----------
The ocean stretched endlessly below as the Emperor-Class Honkai beast glided effortlessly through the sky, its colossal wings shimmering with an otherworldly glow.
On its back, a grand throne sat, seamlessly fused into the beast's hardened exoskeleton. The throne radiated an eerie glow, pulsating with the same energy that coursed through the Honkai beast itself.
Sitting atop the throne was Jyahnar, her blue hair flowing behind her like the tides. Her face was expressionless, her blue eyes cold and distant as she stared ahead. But she wasn't truly looking at the horizon—her focus was on the translucent panel floating before her, the interface of her mysterious system.
The panel flickered as she navigated its options with ease. Lines of data streamed past, detailing the Honkai energy levels within her body and the potential configurations for new creations.
[Name: Jyahnar (11%)]
[Honkai Energy = 5870HW/6029HW]
The numbers displayed her growing power, and with each passing moment, she felt her connection to the Honkai deepen. She tapped the glowing options on the panel, her finger moving with precision.
[Class Selection]
- Emperor-Class
- Templar-Class
- Chariot-Class
- Knight-Class
- Seraph-Class
- Other
She selected [Other], her lips curving into a small smile.
[Input Honkai Energy]
She entered 1500HW, her mind already envisioning what she desired. A humanoid creature, towering and monstrous, with the gait and posture of a warrior but the grotesque features of a nightmare. She wanted a being that could inspire fear not just with its strength but also with its form.
The process began. Honkai energy streamed out of her body in visible arcs, converging in the air before her. The energy twisted and churned, forming a dark, glowing cocoon that pulsated with life.
The cocoon grew taller, taking shape as it consumed the Honkai energy she had allocated. Jagged exoskeletal plates began to form, covering its elongated limbs and muscular frame. Its hands were clawed, each finger ending in a razor-sharp talon. Its head bore no eyes, only a grotesque mouth filled with serrated teeth that seemed to grin eternally. Two massive horns curved backward from its skull, giving it an almost demonic appearance.
As the creature's transformation neared completion, it dropped to its two legs, standing tall and menacing. The cocoon cracked open fully, revealing its entire form. Black and purple hues swirled across its body like liquid fire, giving it an ever-shifting, chaotic appearance.
Jyahnar observed her creation with satisfaction. The system panel updated:
[New Honkai Beast Created: Humanoid-Class]
[Characteristics: Bipedal, Advanced Intelligence, Hardened Exoskeleton, Enhanced Strength, Adaptive Combat,Regeneration,Perfect Biomechanical Physique,]
The creature turned its head toward Jyahnar, its featureless face exuding raw malice and loyalty. It knelt on one knee before her, its claws resting on the surface of the Emperor-Class beast beneath them.
her voice cold out. "Rise."
The humanoid Honkai beast stood at her command, towering over even the Emperor-Class beast's back. It awaited her next order, its monstrous body radiating destructive potential.
"Perfect," she murmured. Her eyes gleamed with ambition as she looked at her creation. "You'll be my sword on land… a nightmare to those who think they're safe away from the sea."
She dismissed the panel and leaned back on her throne, her thoughts churning with possibilities. The humanoid Honkai beast took its position beside her, standing tall as a silent sentinel.
"Entertain me more human.....," Jyahnar said to herself, her voice filled with quiet malice. The Emperor-Class beast continued its flight westward, carrying its creator toward their next destination.
(A/n: I'm Honkai!!aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)
