Herobrine in Marvel...again

Chapter 50: 39 Family interrogation.

Amaunet, Queen of Heliopolis, Goddess of Air, felt like a very small breeze in the middle of a hurricane.

Titles meant nothing when you were sitting in front of four of the most powerful beings in existence.

Gaia, the Mother of Earth.

Oshtur, the Goddess of Magic.

Ignia, the Phoenix Force itself.

And… Lucifer?

Amaunet subtly gulped. Was she in a family meeting or an interrogation?

Before she could ask, Oshtur turned to the smug, golden-haired angel lounging on the couch like she owned the place. "What are you doing here, Lucifer? This is a family meeting."

Lucifer huffed, flicking a strand of hair over her shoulder. "Family is a broad term, Silverhead. And, in case you forgot, I happen to be very good friends with Herobrine."

"Self-proclaimed friend," Oshtur corrected.

"Ender is just too shy to admit it!" Lucifer shot back, crossing her arms. "He must have wanted to avoid the pressure of being best friends with the strongest Archangel of Heaven."

Oshtur, not missing a beat, raised an eyebrow. "The strongest Archangel? You mean the one who dreams of the husband of three women entering her chambers?"

Lucifer choked on air. "Wh- WHAT?! I— That— What are you even talking about?! W-Why would I—"

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because you stole Ender's worn clothes?" Oshtur said, her tone dripping with false innocence.

Lucifer's face turned bright red. "W-WHAT— I—" She flailed. "THAT'S A— A BASELESS ACCUSATION!"

Oshtur calmly sipped her tea. "Even if they do have his fragrance?"

"I did NOT steal them!" Lucifer snapped, her wings twitching aggressively. "I just… relocated them for safekeeping! What if something happened to them?! It's called being responsible!"

Oshtur smirked, sipping her tea. "Oh, yes. A responsible archangel keeping a divine collection of Herobrine's used garments. Truly noble."

"Shut up!" Lucifer sputtered. "And anyway, he took my feathers! That means something!"

"He uses them as quills," Oshtur deadpanned.

Lucifer froze. "…Wait. No. That's a lie."

"It's not a lie," Oshtur replied smoothly.

Lucifer turned to Gaia, who gave a diplomatic smile.

"He does write with them," Gaia admitted gently. "But I'm sure he cherishes them… in his own way?"

Amaunet, watching this chaos unfold, wondered if it was too late to turn invisible and slowly back out of the room. Unfortunately, Gaia suddenly turned to her with a warm yet all-seeing smile.

"So, Amaunet, how did you and Atum meet?"

Amaunet, still reeling from witnessing an actual Archangel lose her dignity in real time, took a second to process the question.

"U-Um…" she fidgeted. "It was when Celestial Heliopolis was under threat. Other powerful beings were targeting us, and I was sent to Earth to seek help. Because of my invisibility, I thought I could move unnoticed.

"But as I ventured through the vast deserts…" she took a deep breath, "I felt something following me."

Gaia tilted her head. "A pursuer?"

Amaunet nodded. "At first, I dismissed it. Maybe just paranoia. But then I knew—I was being hunted.

"And that's when I realized… I was being chased by the Hounds of Chaos."

Lucifer—recovering from her earlier embarrassment, leaned forward. "Hounds of Chaos? Oof. That's rough, sweetheart."

Amaunet swallowed. "I had no way to fight them. They were relentless. I tried to fly, to hide, but they always found me. I… I was losing hope."

Ignia, who had been mostly watching the drama unfold, raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess. Enter Atum?"

Amaunet's face lit up slightly. "Yes… just as I thought I was done for, he appeared, shining like the Sun itself."

Lucifer smirked. "Classic. The whole Knight in Shining Armor entrance. Like Ender says. Did he say something cool? Like, 'Unhand her, foul beasts!'"

Oshtur nodded approvingly, but Ignia interrupted, "Wait, wait, wait—invisibility? So he couldn't even see you when you met?"

Amaunet hesitated. "Well… no. At first."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow. "Then how did he find you?"

Amaunet looked away. "...He felt my presence."

Silence.

Then Lucifer burst out laughing. "Oh my God, Atum got a girl because he was paranoid!"

Amaunet flushed. "N-no! I mean, yes—he sensed something was following him, but he wasn't wrong! The Hounds of Chaos were after me!"

Lucifer smirked. "So you were stalking him first?"

"Not stalking!" Amaunet protested, feeling her face heat up.

Gaia smiled. "Then what happened next?"

Amaunet sighed, deciding to just get it over with. "I realized I was being hunted, and just as I thought I would be overwhelmed, Atum—who had been suspicious of me—turned back, saw what was happening, and fought off the Hounds."

"...And then I may have accidentally turned visible because I panicked," Amaunet admitted.

Lucifer grinned. "And let me guess—Atum took one look at you and went, 'Welp, guess I'm in love now.'" She said thinking about a certain someone.

Amaunet buried her face in her hands. "He did not say that."

Ignia cackled. "But he totally thought it!"

Amaunet peeked out from between her fingers. "...Thank you?"

"Actually," Amaunet said, looking away, "he… squinted at me, tilted his head, and went, 'l'Uh… are you a damsel in distress?''"

There was a beat of silence.

Then Oshtur burst into laughter.

"Pffft— Oh, that's so Atum."

Ignia snorted. "He had inherited his father's sense of drama."

Amaunet turned even redder and mumbled, "…Maybe."

That sent the entire room into laughter.

Amaunet sighed. At least now she knew where Atum got his chaotic energy from.

Gaia chuckled, patting Amaunet's shoulder. "Well, whatever happened, I'm happy to have you as part of the family."

It was turning into one of those wholesome moments where the mothers officially accepted their son's choice.

Until—

"Wait, wait, WAIT!"

A tiny, fiery blur burst into the room, hands on her hips, her little snake pet coiled snugly around her waist. Agni, Princess of the Phoenix, squinted suspiciously at Amaunet, puffing up her cheeks.

"How can you add someone to my family without asking me first?! Mothers, and Lucy Aunty, you also let them do this?!"

Lucifer, lounging in the background, smirked. "I like where this is going."

Amaunet blinked, completely lost. "Uh…?"

Agni crossed her arms, nodding firmly. "Hmm. So you are the one who kept my brother away from me!"

"Eh?!" Amaunet paled. "I—I didn't keep him away! He was busy—"

"Busy with you!" Agni pointed dramatically. "Suspicious!"

Amaunet opened her mouth, then closed it. She was being interrogated by a six-year-old.

Oshtur, smirking, nudged Ignia. "Our daughter's got a real talent for this."

Agni huffed and took a seat on Gaia's lap like a tiny, fiery judge. "Alright. Let's see if you are qualified to be my sister-in-law!"

Amaunet blinked rapidly. "Qualified?"

"Yes!" Agni held up her fingers. "First test: Bribery!"

"W-What?!"

"Did you bring me a gift?" Agni wiggled her eyebrows. "Because real family members bring gifts!"

Amaunet panicked. She had nothing! What could she—?

Wait.

She lifted her hand, swirling the air around her, and within moments, a soft, fluffy pink cloud formed in her palm.

Agni blinked. "…What is that?"

"Cotton candy," Amaunet said nervously. "I''s… sweet and fluffy. Want to try?"

Agni hesitated. Then, suspiciously, she took a tiny pinch, placed it in her mouth—

Her eyes widened.

The room went silent.

Then—

"THIS IS AMAZING!" Agni squealed, instantly snatching the entire thing and stuffing it in her mouth. "Mmm!" She practically melted in Gaia's arms. "S'soft! S'sweet! You made this with air magic?!"

Amaunet, relieved, nodded. "Yes."

Agni gasped dramatically. "You can make infinite candy?"

"U-Uh, technically, yes—"

Agni slammed her tiny fists on the table. "I HAVE DECIDED! I LIKE THIS ONE!"

Amaunet blinked. "H-Huh?"

Agni turned to the others, her cheeks still stuffed like a chipmunk. "She's a good sister-in-law! I approve!"

Gaia laughed warmly. "Well, that was fast."

Oshtur smirked. "One snack, and she's already sold."

Lucifer chuckled. "Honestly? Same."

Agni, still licking her fingers, nodded sagely. "Cotton candy is the key to my heart." Then, she turned back to Amaunet. "Okay, new sister! More candy! And tell me more about your achievements!"

"A-Achievements?"

"Yes! What makes you worthy of my big brother?" Agni demanded. "Have you fought dragons? Conquered kingdoms? Flown into space?!"

Amaunet, once again, found herself at a total loss.

She turned helplessly to Atum's mothers.

Gaia smiled kindly. "Just humor her."

Amaunet sighed. "Well, I did survive an attack from the Hounds of Chaos."

Agni's eyes sparkled. "Ooooh. That's cool! Okay, okay! What else?!"

Amaunet couldn't help but smile.

Maybe being interrogated by an overenthusiastic fireball wasn't so bad after all.
