Heavenly Book of Reincarnation

Chapter 10: The Gap Is Too Vast

After Magnus's soft whisper, something completely unexpected happened to Nora.

Instead of passing harmlessly by his back as he initially assumed, the lightning sphere suddenly halted in midair and then expanded at an insane speed.

"Arggggg!"

Nora let out a sharp cry of pain as his entire body was engulfed in a brilliant golden radiance—an enormous spherical lightning cage that was even larger than him.

His hair stood on end before his body was covered in light scorch marks.

This was clearly not Magnus's full power—he had only used the strength of an F-rank Hero. Had he used his full strength, Nora would have been undoubtedly killed on the spot.

As the lightning dissipated, Nora remained standing tall, his eyes still filled with determination rather than fear.

He roared:

"I'm coming!"

Without any hesitation, he abandoned all defense and dashed toward Magnus at full speed.

Seeing this, Magnus chuckled in admiration.

"Haha, good kid. Your willpower is impressive."

Then, he extended his palm, and arcs of lightning flickered at the tips of his five fingers. With a firm voice, he commanded:

"Lightning Claw!"

In an instant, the electricity on his hand coalesced into the shape of a ferocious beast's claw.

With a mere wave of his hand, five massive slashes, each towering three meters high, shot toward Nora.

Faced with such a deadly attack, Nora quickly formulated a response.

"Those five slashes definitely carry far greater destructive power than the previous attack. I can't block them head-on, nor can I afford to let even one strike land on me. What should I do? Ah, that's right—I can dodge. As long as my feet remain on the ground, I'll be able to move instantly."

Having made up his mind, he immediately sprang into action.

Whoosh!

Like a flash of lightning himself, he weaved through the incoming slashes and charged straight at Magnus.

Seeing Nora's combat awareness, Magnus was visibly impressed.

"His talent has risen even further in my eyes. While he may not be as skilled as Alice, he is still worth nurturing as a priority."

Just as Magnus was lost in thought, a kick suddenly flew straight toward his face.

Snapping out of his thoughts, he instinctively lowered his stance and effortlessly blocked the kick with his forehead.

At the same time, he threw a powerful punch aimed directly at Nora's stomach.

In truth, there was something Magnus couldn't suppress, even if he wanted to make the fight fair for Nora—something that gave him an overwhelming advantage.

That was his ability to process and react to information.

To Magnus, every one of Nora's movements so far appeared sluggish, a result of the massive difference in their levels.

Boom!

Nora was sent flying backward, clutching his stomach with a pained expression.

"Cough… cough…"

He coughed violently a few times before finally regaining his composure.

Then, looking at Magnus with unwavering determination, he declared:

"I can still continue."

Magnus gazed at him with satisfaction before laughing heartily.

"Haha, well said, kid. Let's keep going."

Suddenly, five lightning spheres flickered into existence at his fingertips. A smirk played on Magnus's lips as he said

"Try handling all five at once, kid."

Without hesitation, he swung his arm, launching the five lightning spheres like bullets toward Nora.

However, rather than following a straight trajectory, each sphere flew in a completely different direction, weaving in chaotic patterns that could easily make anyone dizzy just by watching.

Seeing the disorienting barrage, sweat trickled down Nora's forehead as he thought to himself:

"Damn it, how am I supposed to dodge all of them at once? Wait… I've got it!"

His eyes locked onto the incoming lightning spheres, and he quickly began calculating.

A few seconds later, he had his answer.

Without hesitation, he charged straight toward one of the lightning spheres, as if intentionally provoking both the attack and Magnus himself.

Magnus's eyes narrowed in surprise as he thought to himself:

"What is this kid trying to do? Looks like I'd better stay on guard."

At this moment, Nora was constantly weaving and dodging, narrowly escaping the relentless pursuit of the lightning spheres behind him.

From a distance, he looked like a buzzing fly darting back and forth.

Observing this, Magnus finally noticed something unusual. His eyes gleamed with excitement as he thought:

"So that's it—endurance! This kid has an incredibly high stamina level, far exceeding that of an ordinary F-rank hero. If he continues to develop his abilities, his future combat potential will be absolutely terrifying. Alice was right about his talent."

While Magnus was marveling at Nora's potential, the boy had already closed much of the distance between them.

Realizing Nora's intent, Magnus chuckled and called out:

"Haha, not bad! Planning a direct attack, huh? That's actually a solid idea."

As Nora got closer, he could tell that Magnus had already seen through his plan.

But so what?

Right now, he had no better option than to get in close and take his shot.

Reaching Magnus, he suddenly threw a straight punch aimed directly at his stomach.

Relying on his battle experience, Magnus instinctively moved to block the attack.

However, the moment before impact, something unexpected happened—Nora swiftly retracted his punch.

Using his smaller frame to his advantage, he sidestepped behind Magnus in one fluid motion and unleashed a powerful kick to his back.

Ordinarily, Magnus could have dodged it with ease.

But this time, he deliberately took the hit.

After all, if he had truly been an F-rank hero, he wouldn't have been able to react in time.

Bang!

Nora's kick forced Magnus to take a step forward.

At the same moment, two of the five lightning spheres, unable to change trajectory in time, crashed directly into Magnus.

The explosion of energy created a dazzling spectacle of crackling lightning.

A surge of excitement rushed through Nora's chest as he silently cheered:

"Yes! I landed a hit!"

But just a few seconds later, his triumph turned into stunned silence.

As the blinding light faded, Magnus stood there completely unscathed.

Not a single mark was left on his clothing.

Turning to face Nora, Magnus casually dusted off his shoulder and smirked.

"Haha, well played, kid. But don't tell me… you actually thought that would work?"

Then, with a grin, he added:

"You seem to be misunderstanding something. That lightning energy came from my own body. If I can release it, then I can just as easily take it back. How could my own power possibly harm me?"
