Heaven is a Dungeon

Chapter 10: The Wolfman's grip

I miscalculated! At this rate, I won't get him. They're thinking the same thing.

Dolly quickly grabs onto her threads and pulls it down so her head doesn't lob off front the speed as the flush of wind hits her hard. There's a loud CLANG. sparks fly out as their swords clash, some sparks land on her little face. She stamps them out just in case of fire.

Woah, this is epic!

They run past each other, having exchanged one strike, but their eagerness gets the best of them; they immediately turn back, raising their swords for another strike. Their eyes meet, shocked at seeing the other betray the pact.

You sly dog, the wolfman says.

I knew I couldn't trust you. I had to do it.

Stop! The doll screams. They stop in their tracks, their swords already over their heads. They both jump back, keeping a safe distance from the other

It's one strike and one strike only, remember.

They stop and look around their body

No cuts

Nobody wins. Dolly says

I guess it's so.The wolfman puts away his sword. So what do we do now?

I don't know! Asher says, watching him keenly.

Who gets to go after the thief?

Well, me of course, I got here first.

The wolf man laughs, he grips his blade in the flash, his furs begin to stand on ends

You wanna die!

Asher grips his sword, the cloud of cold air from all around.

You want to go some more, wolf.

Stop it, stop it. Doll screams

Why's that on his belt? The wolf says

Why don't you two track down the thief and when you've found him, then you can duke it out. With your strengths pulled together you can easily handle whoever, right. So what you say

I'd be open to it, but I don't know about him

I like that. If I fight you in the end, I'll be like a full course meal. The appetizer and the main dish. The thief and the knight. The wolfman growls

You've got to be careful with that guy, I don't trust him much, he could bite your head off, in a flash

I know, I know, he just called me a meal to face .

Don't worry about it, I won't do anything like that. Until we catch the thief. That is.

Dolly screams. I forgot he could hear me.

Alright, let's call a truce then.

Alright. In an instant the Wolfman disappears. Asher jumps back, griping his sword

Where'd he….The Wolfman appears in front of him. There's no time to react, the wolfman's hand darts out of his cloak. Asher tries to draw out his blade.

Truce. The wolfman says, he hand stretched out to Asher, he gestures for a handshake.

Oh, don't jump in like that.

Yeah you almost gave me a heart attack! Dolly says

He's been hiding his true speed all along even when he needed it to run away, so why show it now, when it won't do him any good, unless…

Asher shakes his hand. Truce

Truce, the wolfman says. They grip each other's hand tightly, flexing their strength.

Truce! Dolly yells in a fit of excitement.

They both chuckle, trying to hide the pain from the handshake.

I think you should let go now!, Asher says

The wolfman chuckles. I'm only merely greeting you, what's wrong, it's back manners to turn down a greeting

I know, I know, I'll be nice.

Asher puts all his strength into his grip. The wolfman yelps but quickly turns it into a chuckle playing it off as nothing. He grips harder, Asher yelps he could feel his armor clamp against his wrist

.

Doll watches them from below their arms wriggling unsteadily, she shakes her head

Humans are so stupid

The Wolfman let's go

Dolly, do you mind?

What am I? A pain killer?

She stretches out her arms.

You both should really stop fighting. A green aura emits out and wraps around his hand.

My names Drogo of the Murky mountains

That far huh? Well I'm Asher of the locksley taverns basement or Asher the carriage hopper. I go by many names.

It's all healed, thank you. Asher rubs her head.

Dolly looks like she's blushing.

The wolf man jolts up, alerted by something.

We have to go now, Drogo says. There's a strange smell coming from the bank.

Ahh damn, I was hoping I'd get my boots on first.

They run off towards the bank.

….

As they run toward the bank, they run past an old lady woman in a cloak, she turns and glares at Dolly.

Dolly panics. Did that lady just look at me? Could she tell?

The darkness filled the streets. The light from the moon had dimed as the clouds rolled in. The few lanterns from the restaurants and shops were what lithe the street.

They stopped in front of the bank. Drogo sniffs around, moving his head as he does.

It's coming from up there. Asher quickly runs back to get a full view of the bank.

The window! It's open. He runs back to Drogo

The window is open.

Then, there's no time. Drogo instantly leaps, almost as high as the building.

Woah, he jump so high, dolly says

He brings out his claws and easily grips on to the top of the building. He pulls himself up and runs into the window.

How are you planning on getting up there, short stack. Dolly says, chuckling.

How about you get up there and throw me down a ladder.

What? Asher grabs her out of his belt

Whatever you're planning on doing, stop it. Asher throws her in the air, her frail small body moving as fast as would a thrown stone.

I wasn't meant to move this fast!!

She lands on top of roof, raises her head and sees the window,

Oh I'm alive, she gets out dusty her dress and runs into the window.

Asher looks down at his bare feet.

It's so cold

Asher draws out his sword. He looks up then down, then he gears up to jump. Putting all his power into his legs, he leaps almost half the height of the building.

But he falls back down, he quickly thrusts his blade into the wall, there's a loud screech as the black slips in between the bricks sparks fly out, everywhere.

It stops him from falling, he pulls himself upwards on the sword, presses his feet against the wall and builds up enough power to throw himself upwards. But he barely makes it up to the roof, falling back down, just as he gimples the top of it.

He quickly grabs unto something, a rim of a brick on the wall. He's barely hanging on,

I'm slipping, gotta do something fast,

He throws his sword up on the roof, freeing his other hand. He grabs on with his other hand pulling himself up and jump as he glimpses the top of the building again. He sees a flash of silver.

My sword!

He ducks his head in, and it falls over, he watches it fall past him and onto the ground.

Damn I forgot, the roofs were inclined.

He pulls himself up onto the roof and gets a breather.

He hears a window shatter, he gets up quickly. There's a loud scream.

What! That's Dolly!
