chapter 22
Episode 22
A Good Documentary.
“Uh…?
Finally!”
The moment they entered the gate, Shi-hyun’s eyes widened, and he exclaimed in admiration. He felt like he could dance with joy.
Before him, there were goblins, humanoid monsters, wandering around.
It seemed that he could finally complete the quest that had taken so long to resolve. Because of them, he had wanted to become stronger but had remained stagnant for so long.
It felt like a weight had been lifted off his chest. Even losing a tooth wouldn’t feel this good.
“A goblin habitat? Let’s form a line and take them out one by one. Huh? Hey, Shi-hyun! Where are you going?”
Min-jun shouted at Shi-hyun with a look of disbelief.
Shi-Hyun suddenly dashed toward a group of goblins, which was completely out of character for him.
“Yay, I’m so happy to see you! I’ve missed you guys so much!”
“Kiruk?”
The goblins seemed momentarily confused, as if they were meeting a long-lost sibling after ten years, sensing genuine joy rather than hostility from Shi-hyun.
“Anyway, thank you so much. I’ll make sure it ends without you getting hurt.”
“Kirk!”
As Shi-hyun smiled and drew his long sword, the goblins finally picked up their crude weapons and growled low.
Swish!
Thud!
“Keek!”
Shi-hyun’s longsword sliced through the air and beheaded one goblin. His strength and agility, already at D-rank, made it impossible for E-rank gate monsters to evade his strikes.
“Uh… Let’s just go.”
Min-jun watched the scene in a daze, shaking his head as he ran toward where Shi-hyun was.
“Let’s go, Dad.”
“…Okay.”
Eunhye and Guild Leader Sang-hyuk followed Min-jun, with the youngest guild member, Jaemin, trailing behind.
Thus began the somewhat chaotic goblin hunt.

“Hey, you can’t just run off like that!”
After defeating the gate boss, the goblin chief, Min-jun, said.
“Ah, I’m sorry. I lost my composure all of a sudden. I truly apologize.”
Shi-Hyun politely apologized to his guild members.
Charging the enemy without saying a word to his party was an inexcusable mistake.
He had acted on impulse out of sheer joy.
“Shi-hyun is not usually like this. There must have been a reason.”
“Yeah, Shi-hyun isn’t the type to do that.”
Eunhye and Sang-hyuk reassured him that it was okay.
Jaemin, who usually spoke very little, nodded in agreement.
“I apologize once again. I will ensure it doesn’t happen again.”
Shi-Hyun bowed his head.
“Oh, come on, stop it, Shi-hyun. It ended without any issues, so it’s fine.”
Sang-hyuk said, clearly uncomfortable with receiving so many apologies.
Min-jun gestured for them to leave, pointing at the gate entrance.
Only then did Shi-hyun return to his usual demeanor.
‘Great, I leveled up.’
Shi-hyun internally cheered, murmuring to himself.
His status screen showed an increase of 10 in strength, agility, and stamina.
Now he felt like he could comfortably watch documentaries at home tonight.

“Yeah, yeah, my brother will be on TV soon!
No, it’s a public broadcast.
It’s on NBS at 10:40 PM.
Yes, be sure to watch it.”
His younger sister, Ha-young, seemed to be on the phone with their parents in Yeongwol.
She had come to watch Shi-hyun’s appearance on the broadcast and had to clean his apartment before heading to the raid. Usually, after work, he would just do a quick clean-up and let dust accumulate.
Shi-hyun prepared a simple snack with strawberries, oranges, and potato chips. Setting up two cans of 500-ml beer completed the arrangement.
“Wow, nice touch, my brother.”
Ha-young smiled brightly, seemingly happy for the cold beer.
“Your brother is usually this good.”
Shi-hyun laughed and sat next to Ha-young.
The TV channel was already set to NBS.
Looking at the time, there were about 20 minutes left.
“How’s work going these days?”
Shi-Hyun asked.
“Well, it’s okay. By the way, I heard you broke up with your civil servant girlfriend.”
Ha-young changed the subject.
“Uh? Oh… yeah.”
He hadn’t mentioned it yet, but she must have guessed after seeing that he had removed all the photos of Su-jin from his apartment.
“Since you supported him so much, she must have broken up with you first.”
“Yeah, that’s how it went.”
“I see. Anyway, you’ll meet a good girl soon.”
Ha-young said lightly, trying to change the mood.
She opened a can of beer and handed it to Shi-hyun, then opened her own.
“Let’s have a drink, brother.”
“Sounds good.”
“Cheers.”
Shi-Hyun and Ha-young clinked their beer cans together.
“Ahh.”
The refreshing beer flowed down his throat, making Ha-young involuntarily express her pleasure.
Shi-hyun, feeling thirsty, gulped down a few sips.
“Are you going to record it?”
“I’m planning to get the video file from the internet.”
“Okay. Since you’re on a public documentary, you should keep it for posterity.”
As they chatted, the documentary time arrived.
“Wow, I’m so nervous.”
Ha-young swallowed hard.
“I’m already in position.”
Shi-hyun said, sitting at the edge of the sofa and leaning forward.
Soon, the intro music played, and the narration began as “Documentary 72 Hours” started.
The familiar scenery of the Daehan Correctional Facility, where he had worked for three years, slowly zoomed in from a distance.
Then the camera moved inside.
Familiar faces of the staff flickered across the screen.
Seeing the familiar faces on the screen felt different from seeing them in person; it was a strange feeling as if he were watching someone else.
The first day began with an interview with the warden, who briefly explained the history of the Daehan Correctional Facility and how it operates today.
Then the camera quickly panned through various departments like the Civil Affairs, General Affairs, Inmate Records, and Medical departments.
It seemed to show an overview of what departments made up the correctional facility.
Finally, the camera focused on the most crucial department, security.
The camera followed the busy staff of the security department. Amidst it all, they conducted interviews to add variety to the story.
Particularly, they focused on an employee handling information requests. The staff expressed how the demands for information from inmates had overwhelmed the guards.
The employee mentioned that some inmates made hundreds of information requests on their own.
It seemed that the first day focused more on the guards than the inmates.
The next scene showed the visitation waiting room.
“I’ll be on soon.”
Shi-hyun’s eyes sparkled.
The waiting room was crowded with visitors when suddenly an inmate began to cause a disturbance.
The camera zoomed in on the inmate, causing chaos.
Profanity was appropriately bleeped out.
“Oh my… You work in a dangerous place, don’t you?”
Ha-young looked worried as she watched the large inmate yell and cause a scene.
“It’s not as bad as it seems.”
Shi-hyun replied.
Meanwhile, the camera shifted from the inmate to the CRPT team that responded.
“Hey! Isn’t that you?”
Ha-young exclaimed, recognizing him even with a mask on.
“Yeah, that’s me.”
Soon, Shi-hyun’s impressive actions played out.
“Be quiet! Are you not going to be quiet?”
“Gah?! Ugh!”
“Be quiet; why are you yelling again?”
“I’ll be quiet! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”
“…”
Seeing it on screen, he looked more impressive than he thought.
He felt that he would appear quite cool in the eyes of others.
“Is this for real? Is this scripted?”
Ha-young looked shocked.
It was hard for her to believe that her brother could subdue a violent inmate so easily.
“It’s all real.”
Shi-hyun’s impressive actions continued on the second day.
He subdued an inmate who was throwing things around in his cell, demanding to see the warden, and quickly calmed two inmates who were fighting and shouting at each other.
Ha-young seemed so shocked that she was speechless, holding her head in disbelief.
Finally, the orderly scene in the dormitory and interviews with the inmates were shown.
This was something Shi-hyun had particularly focused on.
The interviews with the inmates exceeded expectations.
When he instructed them to show remorse and cry during the interview, they all displayed expressions of regret that could rival Hollywood actors.
“Is that for real?” Ha-young wondered as she watched, taking another big gulp of her beer while muttering, “This is unbelievable, this is unbelievable.”
On the final day, Shi-hyun made another remarkable appearance, even closing out the documentary with an interview.
“Is there anything you particularly regret about being a guard?”
Han Yi-seol’s voice asked.
“In any society, there are no crime-free environments. Therefore, correctional facilities are essential. However, our country lacks sufficient correctional facilities.
As a result, each facility is overwhelmed with inmates, making it more challenging for both inmates and guards. I understand the concerns of those who oppose it;
it’s understandable to be reluctant about having a correctional facility in your neighborhood. But if you could reconsider, I would be very grateful as a guard.”
With Shi-hyun’s words, the documentary concluded by showing statistics about the current number of correctional facilities in South Korea and how many inmates were overcrowded.
“That was a good documentary.”
Clap, clap, clap!
Shi-hyun nodded repeatedly with a satisfied expression, applauding.
“That’s not my brother.”
Ha-young still seemed unable to shake off the shock of seeing her brother subdue inmates so effortlessly.
<0x18> <0xCD> ◈
“Hey, did you see the internet?”
He rubbed his eyes and answered the phone; it was his friend Sang-kyu.
“Ugh, why are you calling so early in the morning?”
“You’ve become an internet star, you jerk! Videos of just you are going around every community.”
“Really?”
