chapter 20
Episode 20
Let’s Solve It.
“Wow, there are more cameras than I expected.”
Shi-hyun’s colleague, Jung Juncheol, said while watching the documentary team that had come to film ‘Documentary 72 Hours’ from the window.
“Our facility is quite large, right? We need this many cameras to shoot in multiple places at the same time.”
Shi-hyun was also looking outside while sipping from a vending machine can of coffee.
It was still early morning, but both the documentary team and the prison staff were busy moving around.
They had already coordinated many details, but today they were bustling to set up the filming environment. The prison staff had also dispatched employees to guide and explain things to the documentary team.
“I’m not going to be interviewed, right? My skin has been terrible lately due to fatigue.”
Juncheol fussed, touching his pimpled skin.
“Come on, we have hundreds of staff. How many of us will even be on screen? Plus, the inmates will be dispersed too. Don’t worry about it, Hyun.”
“Is that so? Haha.
But I think you’ll be on camera.”
Juncheol laughed while looking at Shi-hyun.
Shi-hyun was dressed in tactical gear, wearing a beret and tactical boots instead of his usual work uniform.
This was the outfit worn by CRPT (Correctional Response Tactical Team) members, which earned him the nickname “Crow” because it was all black.
“You will be on camera. The security chief called me specifically to show me how to handle troublemakers, so my position was temporarily changed. They probably finished coordinating everything already. That’s why I’m going to use this.”
Shi-hyun took out a black mask from his pocket.
It was a mask kept in the office for correctional officers to wear while on duty.
Wearing the mask and pulling the hat down deeply would change his appearance significantly.
While it was fine for now since he was mainly raiding with the Grace Guild, it was better to cover his face just in case for the future.
“Huh? Shi-hyun, you have a pretty decent face, so why cover it?”
“In this day and age, there’s no benefit to having your face exposed. Even someone who appeared briefly on the news can become a meme if they look funny.”
“Really? If you’re that worried, just ask for a mosaic. I saw a soldier with a mosaic on the last episode of the 72 Hours documentary.”
“Mosaic is a bit much. I’m not an inmate, so why should I ask for a mosaic? The viewers would think it’s strange.”
As Shi-hyun replied, he threw the empty can of coffee into the trash.
“Then I’ll head down to the CRPT office. Hyun, take care.”

“Hey, our ace is here! The ace has arrived!”
Team Leader Kim of CRPT welcomed Shi-hyun with exaggerated enthusiasm.
Kim, a former judo athlete in his early 50s, still boasted a robust physique and strong arms.
Having lost his hair, he completely shaved his head, which only sharpened his already stern appearance, as people around him said.
He was a well-known figure at the Daehan Correctional Facility, often managing even the most difficult inmates.
“No, there are others here too, so Team Leader, saying that…”
Shi-hyun waved his hands in embarrassed.
Though he was only in his third year, hearing such comments in front of many senior staff made him feel awkward.
While he couldn’t show it outwardly, it was a remark that could hurt his feelings inside.
“No, no. Everyone in CRPT acknowledges it! You caught Man-deok, who I couldn’t even handle. There have been zero CRPT calls for months. Everyone is amazed. Come on, everyone, give a round of applause!”
Clap, clap!
The CRPT staff clapped with smiles on their faces.
Shi-hyun accepted it with a polite smile.
Despite the excessive praise for a temporary staff member, the atmosphere seemed fine.
Once the applause died down, Team Leader Kim spoke again.
“It’s your first time, so you might not know how to work yet. But for you, it shouldn’t be too difficult. Just take this TRS and sit comfortably on the sofa over there. When there’s a call, you go out. If something happens, you’ll be the first one sent, so keep that in mind. We need to make good use of the additional staff, right? Hahaha.”

“Are there this many visits in a day?”
The new PD of the documentary team, Han Iseol, said with surprise in her eyes. It seemed like it was her first time in a correctional facility, as she appeared somewhat nervous but was observing the inmates with curiosity.
The visitation waiting room was nearly full of inmates.
The guiding correctional officers also seemed overwhelmed.
Since both attorney visits and general visits were waiting in the same area, it seemed even busier.
“This place is quite large, so there are a lot of pre-trial detainees.”
A senior PD next to her answered.
His gaze was fixated on a pretty lawyer wearing a short skirt.
It was instinctive, but he remembered a house lawyer who had appeared in a news article a few months ago.
These days, with so many lawyers around, there were even house lawyers who provided companionship to clients in the visitation room instead of legal advice. Some female lawyers, at the request of clients, had to wear heavy makeup or short skirts.
The senior PD shook his head.
“Come on, it’s not a current affairs expose; no need for unnecessary thoughts.”
Just as he shifted his attention back to the inmates, a commotion broke out.
“Hey, fuck! I was being quiet! Why the hell are you making a scene?”
An inmate in his mid-30s shouted, cursing.
“Were you quiet? You think you were quiet?!”
The young correctional officer, who had been walking around making sure the inmates were quiet, snapped back.
“Yeah, fuck! Are you deaf? I was quiet!”
“Don’t talk back!”
As the confrontation between the correctional officer and the inmate escalated, the cameras all turned toward them.
The staff, who were new to the correctional facility, looked tense in the ominous atmosphere.
“Hey, both of you, be quiet! Can you be quiet or not?”
The chubby senior officer in charge of the waiting room shouted.
The staff were startled by his loud voice.
They knew that without raising their voices, a noisy inmate wouldn’t calm down.
“Fuck! What do you mean, be quiet? I was being quiet! This is so annoying!”
The correctional officer tried to hold back his anger under the orders of his superior, but the inmate continued to shout.
“Not quiet? If you’re not quiet, I’ll call CRPT!”
“Go ahead! What are they going to do when they come?”
“Hey, you better call CRPT right now!”
The senior officer shouted at a junior correctional officer with a fierce expression.

‘I have nothing to do.’
It was already late morning, but strangely there were no calls.
Sitting idly on the sofa, he felt like he was being watched.
Just then, the TRS rang over the security and common network.
This is the visitation waiting room. There is a disturbance with one inmate. CRPT, please respond.
He didn’t know a call could be this welcome.
Shi-hyun stood up as if he had been poked.
– Acknowledged. CRPT’s two-person team will respond immediately.
Team Leader Kim sent the response.
Then he pointed directly at Shi-hyun and said, “You and Hyungseong go.”
<0x18> <0xCD> ◈
“Hey! Don’t pay attention to that guy, just work!”
The senior officer spoke to the inmate in a toned-down manner, unable to curse at him in front of the camera.
The visitation was already tightly scheduled, and this incident had disrupted everything.
The inmate’s disturbance had to be handled by CRPT while the visitation continued.
“Hey! Are you fuckers ignoring me? Huh?”
The inmate shouted, slamming his fist against the wall.
Not just cursing, but his actions were escalating. If this continues, the disturbance could grow worse.
Fortunately, CRPT arrived just then.
Shi-hyun clicked his tongue at the chaotic atmosphere in the room.
While he was used to such scenes from his work as a correctional officer, he felt more conscious of it with the cameras present.
All eyes, including those of the documentary team, naturally turned towards Shi-hyun.
They knew he had come to resolve this disturbance.
‘He looks smaller than I expected… Can he handle this?’
Iseol thought.
The muscular CRPT members stood back, watching, while it seemed odd that the average-sized CRPT member stepped forward.
Shi-hyun walked confidently toward the agitated inmate.
“Excuse me. Please be quiet.”
At first, he spoke gently.
“Fuck, who are you?
Oh, CRPT?
So what?
What are you going to do?”
The large inmate leaned in closer, glaring at him.
‘As expected, this won’t work.’
Iseol looked disappointed, but then she noticed Shi-hyun wearing a strange smile.
‘Huh? Is he smiling?’
“Be quiet! Are you going to be quiet or not?”
This time, he raised his voice.
At the same time, he released the authoritative presence of a correctional officer.
“Ugh…?! Ughhhh!”
Suddenly, the inmate’s face changed to one of shock.
“I said to be quiet; why are you making noise again?”
“I’ll be quiet! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”
The inmate bent at the waist at a right angle, repeatedly apologizing.
It was a sudden and unbelievable change that left everyone around in shock.
