Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Passively Awakened Ancient Magic Talent
Although Robert wasn't someone who liked to meddle in others' affairs, he had a strong sense of curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
So, he decided to use the Disillusionment Charm to conceal himself and investigate the commotion.
If he encountered a situation he could handle, he wouldn't mind stepping in—especially if it meant earning some merit points. Even though the system's Merit Point Mall hadn't refreshed anything interesting lately…
While the Disillusionment Charm didn't provide complete invisibility, it was sufficient under the cover of night. Silently, Robert approached the source of the noise.
"No! Wake up! It's me!"
"Roar!"
"Boom!"
"I can't hurt you! I... please, wake up... I beg you..."
"Boom!"
"Ugh… I… I can't control myself anymore… I can't hurt you, I can't..."
Robert frowned. That voice sounded very familiar.
Hiding behind a large tree, he cautiously poked his head out to get a better look.
Under the bright moonlight, the once-standing trees had collapsed, revealing a chaotic scene.
As soon as Robert saw who was involved, his pupils contracted slightly.
In the middle of the destruction, Aurelius was struggling to dodge the violent attacks of a massive serpent!
Robert recognized the creature immediately—it was Nagini. The same Nagini who had briefly regained her senses before letting him and Tom go.
The situation was clear. Aurelius had reunited with an old acquaintance, but Nagini had suddenly lost control again. Overcome by her animal instincts, she now saw Aurelius as nothing more than prey.
Aurelius was, without a doubt, a Dumbledore. Even while facing Nagini's relentless assault, he wielded his wand skillfully, countering her strikes with remarkable agility.
However, something was off. If he were in peak condition, Nagini wouldn't be able to land a single blow. But right now, black mist was continuously seeping from his body.
There was no doubt—Aurelius was losing control over the Obscurus inside him.
If this continued, one of two things would happen: either Nagini would devour him, or he would succumb to the Obscurus, transforming into a monstrous force that would tear her apart.
Robert sighed. He couldn't just stand by and do nothing.
During his time at the Hog's Head Inn, Aberforth had been very kind to him and Tom. He had sought Robert's advice on magic multiple times, and never once had he refused to help.
Now that Aberforth's son was in danger, Robert had to act.
Fortunately, rescuing Aurelius wouldn't be too difficult—he just needed to Apparate him away.
Anticipating Aurelius's movement pattern, Robert Apparated ahead of him.
Aurelius, caught off guard, was startled when Robert suddenly appeared in front of him.
"You...?"
"Hold on tight!"
"Bang!"
Robert grabbed Aurelius, and they disappeared just as Nagini's jaws snapped shut on empty air.
When they reappeared, they were inside the corridor on the second floor of the Hog's Head Inn.
Aurelius clutched Robert's arm tightly.
"No… I can't stay here! Take me away! I… I'm losing control!"
The black mist around him thickened, swirling ominously.
Robert sighed. "Brother, you know your condition. Why did you run away?"
Aurelius looked away. "I… I saw an old friend. I just wanted to see her one last time… If nothing unexpected happens, this will be the last time I see her… So..."
Robert frowned. "You need to go back to the attic. I heard Professor Dumbledore reinforced your protective magic."
Aurelius shook his head. "It's useless… The moment I step outside, those protections lose their effect."
Robert clicked his tongue. "You're not only endangering yourself, but also everyone around you!"
Aurelius lowered his head, eyes filled with sorrow. "I… I'm sorry… but..."
Seeing him like this, Robert didn't know what to say.
Without another word, he Apparated them again, this time to a secluded part of the Forbidden Forest.
Aurelius leaned against a tree, pushing Robert away. "Go… Leave now… I'm about to lose control. If I do, I'll attack anything near me."
"Will you be okay?"
Aurelius forced a bitter smile. "I think I can hold on… for now. Just go!"
His breathing was labored, and speaking was becoming difficult.
Robert hesitated but then nodded, vanishing on the spot.
The moment he disappeared, black mist exploded outward, violently distorting the surrounding air. A powerful shockwave tore through the forest, reducing it to ruins.
Even from the edge of the Forbidden Forest, Robert could hear the distant tremors.
The sheer magnitude of the magical outburst left him stunned.
"As expected of an Obscurial… What a mess."
However, he couldn't just stand around doing nothing. He had to inform Aberforth—Aurelius needed him now more than ever.
But… how?
Telling him directly wasn't an option. If he did, he'd have to reveal that he had mastered Apparition, which would raise too many questions.
Just as Robert was racking his brain for a plausible excuse—
He suddenly sensed something moving nearby. A foul, putrid scent filled the air.
"Protego!"
Without hesitation, Robert cast a Shield Charm.
A split second later, sharp fangs clashed against his magical barrier.
"Bang!"
The impact sent Robert flying, his shield barely holding up.
"Nagini?! I almost forgot about you…"
The enraged serpent, her fangs aching from the collision, let out a furious roar and lunged at him again.
"Snap!"
Robert disappeared in an instant, reappearing behind her.
In just a fraction of a second, he had executed a short-range Apparition.
But this time, he wasn't the same as before.
With a flick of his wand, he activated Transfiguration.
Dead branches scattered across the ground began to writhe unnaturally, coming to life.
In the blink of an eye, thick vines sprang up, wrapping around Nagini in an attempt to restrain her.
But her sheer strength was overwhelming. Before she was fully bound, she lashed out with her tail.
"Boom!"
Robert was sent crashing into a massive tree.
If not for his Shield Charm, that attack would have been lethal.
Even so, his head was spinning from the impact, and cracks had begun forming in his magical barrier.
After all, while his magic was as powerful as an adult wizard's, his eleven-year-old body was still fragile.
Just as he was about to Apparate again, something felt… off.
Not from Nagini—but from within himself.
Quickly, he rummaged through his pockets and pulled out a handful of shattered glass.
The bottle containing ancient magic power… was empty.
A realization struck him.
Something inside him had awakened.
He could feel it—a strange and overwhelming power surging through his veins.
It was as if a second magical core had surfaced within him, a separate "blue bar" flashing wildly, signaling that his ultimate move was ready.
Ancient magic.
He had accidentally absorbed the power in the bottle, triggering the awakening of the dormant magic inside him.
An electrifying sensation coursed through his body. It demanded to be unleashed.
At the same time, Nagini—who had been violently struggling—suddenly became eerily still.
Robert's eyes flickered red.
"Shua!"
With a single slash of his wand, Nagini's massive form began to shrink rapidly.
