Chapter 3: Chapter -3 Hogwarts Witness System.
Chapter -3.
As Brian slipped into his black wizard robe and smoothed out the wrinkles at the hem, he glanced at the Slytherin badge and let out a soft sigh.
It was clear he had arrived a bit late.
The original Brian belonged to Slytherin House, and there was no denying that. But he wasn't sure he truly belonged here.
For one, he didn't support blood purity at all, and he found the endless etiquette rules pretty tedious.
Still, he was relieved to have made it just in time; otherwise, it would have been tricky to hide from the Sorting Hat's Legilimency or any similar magic.
If he wanted to keep his secrets safe, he knew he had to steer clear of Dumbledore until he figured out how to shield his mind.
While Dumbledore probably wouldn't misuse Legilimency, no one wants their thoughts laid bare for others to see.
He figured he'd need to take things one step at a time, studying magic and watching the story unfold to prepare for dealing with the Dark Lord.
Plus, he had to keep an eye on his dad to make sure he didn't do anything reckless.
The future looked bright; the Dark Lord would be defeated by the savior, and life would go on.
As for Harry Potter's troubles, Brian didn't want to get involved. His identity was perfect for staying safe amidst the chaos to come.
But as for himself...
A flicker of confusion and self-mockery danced in Brian's dark eyes.
This world felt so strange, with unfamiliar relatives and everything just a bit off; even in the realm of his favorite novel, it felt both familiar and alien, and he couldn't shake the feeling that he didn't truly belong here.
For the first time, he felt a bit lost, unsure of what to do next.
In his previous life, he had always been independent and self-sufficient, knowing his goals and working hard to achieve them, only to face an accident just as things were starting to look up.
"Those people must be laughing their heads off," Brian chuckled to himself, "or maybe this is just what they wanted."
"Pretty easy to guess, right?"
He looked at his reflection in the mirror, which felt both strange and familiar, and thought, "Since I can't go back, I might as well let them be."
But he wanted to take charge of his life and not let anything, not even time, take that away from him.
This magical world that once fascinated him seemed to hold endless possibilities.
What had always drawn him in was magic.
"Magic... why not aim for the pinnacle of it? Surpass the Dark Lord, outshine Dumbledore, and be better than everyone?"
Brian gazed deeply into his own eyes, which reflected a calm and profound depth.
He could just go with the flow... but that felt too easy.
Without a goal, he worried he might just fade away.
As he organized his textbooks, a strange thought from last night popped back into his mind.
He focused, and a line of text appeared in his thoughts:

Brian stared at this virtual screen-like thing, feeling a bit blank; it was just a panel, after all.
The "+" symbols seemed to react, indicating they could be enhanced with Witness Points.
He read the descriptions over and over, finding many parts unclear and needing his own exploration.
But...
"The Witness System wants me to witness major events? Is this for real?" He felt a hint of helplessness for the first time.
Most major events in this world revolved around Harry Potter.
If he were in Gryffindor, it would be easy; he could become best friends with the savior like Ron and Hermione, witnessing almost everything.
But the catch was... he was a Slytherin.
Plus, his dad was a Death Eater, which was pretty much common knowledge in the wizarding world.
That meant he was naturally on the opposite side of the savior.
So, he couldn't be Harry Potter's buddy; instead, he'd likely be viewed with suspicion and miss out on most events.
Brian quietly shifted his gaze away from the system, letting the words fade from his mind like clouds.
He still needed to think about how to move forward; right now, he wasn't too interested.
"Let it be."
Checking the time, he woke up his still-snoozing roommates, who turned out to be Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle.
"This really makes things even trickier," Brian thought, rubbing his forehead.
The staircases at Hogwarts were a maze, some narrow, some wobbly, some twisting in unexpected directions, and some even had little traps.
Of course, finding the way to the classrooms wasn't too hard; just ask around, and as long as you were polite, the upperclassmen from your house were usually happy to help.
With Crabbe and Goyle leading the way, he didn't have to worry about stepping onto any disappearing stairs. They always seemed to trip over all the potential pitfalls, while Malfoy followed behind, chuckling to himself, which made Brian smile.
Every now and then, they'd run into the mischievous Peeves, who was cackling in the corridor, and Malfoy would mock him. Eventually, the four of them managed to shake off Peeves, who was chasing them and tossing chalk pieces, resulting in a big bump on Malfoy's head.
"I'm going to write to my dad and tell him to get this annoying ghost out of Hogwarts!" Malfoy shouted in frustration. "Brian, you have to promise me you'll write to your dad too!"
"Honestly, it's kind of entertaining, isn't it?" Brian replied with a smile, brushing chalk dust off his clothes, feeling good for the first time.
The first-year Slytherin classes only had Potions with Gryffindor, which always felt tense since the two houses were always at odds. The other classes were much more relaxed.
Brian's favorite subjects were Charms and Transfiguration; no other classes showcased the wonders of magic quite like them.
Professor Flitwick, the Charms teacher, stood on a high stack of books; he was surprisingly small, but his teaching was top-notch, always able to clearly explain the key points of spell casting.
Brian discovered he had a decent talent; despite a few hiccups, he successfully cast a spell during class, just a bit slower than Malfoy. This was impressive considering he was using a not-so-great wand.
His current wand was from Ollivander's Wand Shop, eleven and a half inches long, made of ebony, with a dragon heartstring core.
But ever since he crossed over, this wand didn't feel quite right; Brian always sensed it wasn't smooth to use.
Of course, Crabbe and Goyle weren't as lucky; they struggled to cast the spell until class ended, only managing to make their wands spark a little, which led Professor Flitwick to assign them extra practice homework, instructing them to practice the spell before the next class.
The two big guys goofed around for a while, only getting flustered when the next Charms class was about to start, and they even forgot what the spell was.
Brian spent a long time helping them, and they barely managed to get the spell right. The spell required specific hand gestures, but the two were always clumsy and found it tough to nail the intricate poses. Malfoy was laughing on the side, especially when Crabbe's wand tip uncontrollably shot out green sparks and made a "puff—puff—" sound like flatulence; he was almost laughing so hard he could barely breathe.
