Harry Potter: Using science to be IMMORTAL

Chapter 365: Chapter 365: The Tug of War

The Soul Anchor pierced Slytherin, and Voldemort was dragged away due to the hexagram, a mechanism he set up to absorb Slytherin, deeply binding them both.

However, the students were merely providing energy for this hexagram, only connected to it by magical power.

As for the Chamber itself, it was like the soil "rooted" by the students' magical network, being dragged along.

Cutting the magical connection could prevent the students from being pulled into the Spirit World and stop the Chamber from sliding deeper into the Spirit World.

Yet, the hexagram now contained the magical energy of hundreds of students. Slytherin seems to have considered the possibility of intruders when designing it, so this part of the magic, besides establishing and maintaining the "channel" between this world and the Spirit World for his resurrection, also had strong protective capabilities.

The force that repelled Murphy when he tried to approach the locket came from here.

Dumbledore tried several spells, but none could sever the magical ties.

As the students' souls were about to be pulled from their bodies, Dumbledore suddenly grasped a magical channel.

Instantly, his magic was also incorporated into the ritual. Unlike the unconscious students, he could still control his magic. He spread his magic along the magical channel, forming a huge network in front of all the students, like a massive dam, trying to stop the force pulling their souls out.

However, this force was still too strong. The black ship could pull hundreds of people towards the Spirit World, and despite his desperate efforts, he could only slow down the fall, still being dragged and pushed towards the Spirit World.

"Albus!"

Behind him, Grindelwald also grabbed his shoulder, using his own magic as an anchor, struggling against the black ship.

He could disregard the students, but he couldn't stand by and watch Dumbledore die without doing anything.

Even with both of them, they could only barely slow the descent.

"Use the Soul Anchor!" Suddenly, Grindelwald shouted.

Dumbledore, startled, didn't hesitate, raising his wand towards himself and Grindelwald, "Soul Anchor!"

"Pang! Pang!" Several chains pierced through their chests, the other ends firmly rooted in the ground, using their souls as an anchor, forcefully holding back the souls of hundreds of students.

The earth vibrated, and the black ship, like a ship anchored at a dock, had its chain pulled taut, and Murphy seemed to hear some kind of twisting and breaking sound, as if the "nail" pinning the "Chamber" between the Spirit World and the material world was loosening.

Finally, the pull of the black ship was temporarily halted, and the magical ties between the students and the hexagram were stretched to their limit.

"Murphy…" Dumbledore used all his magic to maintain the "dam" and could hardly speak, "Please..."

Murphy didn't wait for him to finish.

At such a moment, he could no longer just watch.

He raised his wand, and magic burst forth, transformed into the same high-level magic frequency as the Mother of Shadows.

He roughly shaped this magic into a giant blade and leaped up, slashing at the taut magical ties.

"Clang!"

After a metallic clash, Murphy was suddenly repelled by a huge counterforce. Even he, trying to confront the magic of hundreds, was still insufficient.

However, the next moment, as if reaching a stress limit, that magical tie suddenly snapped.

"Boom!" A blinding magical light shone, and the entire Chamber vibrated violently. The students lost their connection to the hexagram, their souls instantly pulled back by Dumbledore and Grindelwald, returning to their bodies.

At the same time, without the students' pull, Voldemort was no longer able to sustain himself and was dragged, along with the souls in the Horcruxes, into the void's channel, into the black ship.

At that moment, the portrait of the Mother of Shadows in Slytherin's locket, as if caught by a gust of wind, floated out of the locket and flew elsewhere.

Murphy quickly caught the portrait, but before he could aim his wand at it, another chain from the black ship shot directly towards Murphy.

Forced to clench the portrait tightly, Murphy teleported to the edge of the hall.

However, after the black ship appeared, the Chamber seemed to have slipped deeper into the Spirit World, and Murphy temporarily couldn't find an exit.

The chain pursued him like a serpent, while Murphy continually changed positions within the Chamber to evade.

Meanwhile, a third chain was launched from the black ship, disappearing into the void, its destination unknown.

"Murphy, this is the Ship of Morgan," Dumbledore, leaning on Grindelwald's shoulder, weakly explained to Murphy, "A ferry connecting the mortal world and the otherworld. The fairy Morgan is the steerswoman, guarding the oath, which might be the 'Unbreakable Vow' embedded in our bloodlines, carrying oathbreakers back to the otherworld."

So, this chain is after me?

But at most, I've done things that might have expanded the circle of confidants, and I haven't even gained more power from it.

Why not go after the Mother of Shadows?

Its power level is clearly over the top, isn't it?

Ah, speaking of the Mother of Shadows... Murphy unfolded the small portrait, indeed, it was now empty.

It had escaped again.

However, Murphy suddenly had an idea.

The Mother of Shadows, after summoning the black ship, behaved very low-key, not like it held a powerful weapon. Could it also be afraid of the black ship?

So it hid inside the locket not just to deceive him but also to avoid the black ship's detection?

Does that mean the Soul Anchor affects it too?

Looking at the blank portrait in his hand, Murphy frowned.

Run?

It's just a portrait, can't I just draw another one?

In an instant, he drew an image of the Mother of Shadows on the blank portrait, and with his specially made wand, "animated" the portrait with magic mimicking the Mother of Shadows, "Portrait Animation!"

Instantly, a mysterious connection was established between his hand's portrait and the Mother of Shadows, and Murphy seemed to glimpse some scenes.

Canvas, an old man, spells...

What is this?

But with the Soul Anchor's imminent approach, there was no time to ponder. Murphy enlarged the portrait in his hand, turned around, and threw it towards the incoming chain.

Portraits of the same person can transfer between each other, a trick the Mother of Shadows used to become elusive.

But this meant the portraits were connected.

And this connection likely existed in the Spirit World.

Although Murphy couldn't use this Spirit World channel to attack the Mother of Shadows in a conventional way, the Soul Anchor was powerful enough. The students were merely connected to Voldemort through magic and nearly uprooted, let alone the inherent Spirit World channel between portraits?

Indeed, the chain struck the portrait without piercing it, instead disappearing into it like entering a cave.

Shortly, Murphy seemed to hear a distant scream, followed by the chain tightening and retracting, pulling a wailing figure from the portrait, struggling in vain before being dragged into the black ship.

Simultaneously, many portraits of the Mother of Shadows worldwide spontaneously combusted, burning to ashes.

The Mother of Shadows was finally dead.
