Harry Potter : The White Wizard of Hogwarts

Chapter 12: 12. Phoenix

"Is the wand choosing the wizard?"

Ivan couldn't release the wand in his hand. The feeling it gave him was beyond words.

As Ollivander had said, a wand is a wizard's best partner. It stays with them for life and grows alongside them.

Once Ivan reached a certain point in his magical journey, he could unlock a special vision.

In this vision, he clearly saw a small figure resting on the wand. It was a beautiful phoenix, singing a cheerful song.

"ChiChi"

The phoenix sensed Ivan's gaze and tilted its head, jumping happily as if greeting its new master.

"What a cute little creature."

Since there were others around, Ivan chose not to interact with the little phoenix directly but merely blinked at it.

"Every wand is unique, but this one is particularly special, even among all the wands made by the Ollivander family," Ollivander explained.

He then shared the wand's story: "Long ago, my ancestors traveled to Bhutan, the birthplace of Eastern magic. One day, a phoenix landed on a tree at the top of a mountain in Bhutan. It turned into flames and perished with the ancient tree."

"Sorry, when I said 'fenghuang,' did you understand?"

"Yes," Ivan nodded, "I know some Chinese."

"Your knowledge is impressive," Ollivander said, his pronunciation not quite standard, but he made an effort to explain.

"This magical creature from the East is known as the phoenix. According to books published by the Chinese Ministry of Magic in Guilin, this creature has been extinct for many years."

"If nothing goes wrong, this phoenix might be the last of its kind in the world."

Ollivander continued, "Unlike the phoenix you know, this one does not have the ability to be reborn. However, it is believed to have almost eternal life."

"Many wizards from the East think that the phoenix possesses immortal qualities."

Ollivander wasn't very familiar with phoenixes, so he didn't have all the details about this sacred bird.

"My ancestor found the last remnants from the fire and used excellent alchemy to create this wand."

"It's not just a wand's body or core, but a combination of both."

"However, it's not complete yet because there is one last step."

Ollivander always thought this was merely a family legend, but he never expected that someone would actually awaken it.

"The last step?"

"Rebirth!"

Ollivander explained, "Powerful and pure magic can give the soul sleeping in this wand a new life."

In the old man's eyes, this wand was more than just a tool; it was a work of art and a miracle.

"I feel honored to witness the miracle my ancestors had long hoped for."

Ollivander insisted he wouldn't charge Ivan for the wand. He gently pushed it toward the boy: "I believe this wand will achieve great things in your hands."

"....."

Ivan didn't know what to say, but Ollivander was right about one thing. This wand truly felt miraculous.

"Chirp?"

The phoenix on the wand seemed to connect with Ivan. It flapped its wings and perched on his shoulder, as if to show its bond with him.

This phoenix was very different from Fawkes, the one from Dumbledore's family that Ivan had seen in the movies.

First of all, Fawkes is scientifically named "Phoenix," meaning "the immortal bird."

The wand Ivan held came from the "phoenix."

In the Harry Potter universe, both the phoenix and the immortal bird are magical beings born from flames, but they are not the same.

The immortal bird can rise from its ashes, and its tears have healing powers. The phoenix, however, is a rarer magical creature.

Ivan wasn't sure if phoenixes really existed in his past life, but in the wizarding world, the so-called phoenix and the immortal bird mentioned by Muggles were actually the same magical creature, known simply as the "Phoenix."

The phoenix is the king of birds and has the power to control fire. While it can't be reborn from ashes, it can consume flames and magic, granting it a form of eternal life.

Moreover, the phoenix is believed to bless people and bring good fortune.

Its beautiful song has the ability to revive nature and heal souls.

"ChiChi"

The little phoenix spread its wings again and flew around Ivan. Its flame-like colors and five tail feathers sparkled with different hues and magic, making it appear particularly divine and majestic.

"It truly is a divine bird, bringing good luck. It's so beautiful."

Ivan admired it in his heart, but sadly, those around him couldn't see this sight.

To them, the wand in Ivan's hand was magical, but it still looked like just a wand.

However, when Ivan glanced at the mirror in the room, he saw a young man riding a massive phoenix and soaring through the sky. That young man was his future self.

"It seems the phoenix is not truly gone."

Ivan had a feeling that as long as he kept feeding magic to the wand, the sleeping phoenix within would return to life.

"Time to go back now, little one."

The little phoenix seemed to hear Ivan's thoughts. It circled the wand a few times before diving into the Sycamore wand and disappearing.

"By the way, I have these for you."

Ollivander produced a set of the latest wand care tools and gifted them to Ivan.

This made the little witch envious.

Even Professor McGonagall whispered that she felt cheated by Ollivander's father when she bought her own care tools.

When thinking about it, where does the profit come from when a wand costs just 7 Galleons?

To really make money, selling accessories would be the way to go.

"Thank you, Mr. Ollivander."

Ivan didn't refuse the old man's kindness: "I really like this wand."

After leaving Ollivander's shop, Ivan carefully tucked the wand into his sleeve. He had sewn a special bag inside to make sure he could easily grab the wand when needed.

Next, the three of them headed to Madam Malkin's robe shop to buy wizard robes.

While there, Ivan asked Madam Malkin to help him adjust his robes, shortening the long skirt and adding a pocket in the sleeve for the wand.

Seeing this, the little witch wanted to do something similar.

However, she was worried that being different would draw too much attention, so she only altered her sleeves.

Buying the wand was the biggest expense. Besides books, first-year students could also bring robes and equipment, along with a pet.
