Chapter 25: A Raid Gone Wrong
For the rest of the summer holiday, when Dante wasn't with his family or teaching Draco, he spent his time working on his new Magic Circuit. The first step was to deconstruct the spell itself into runes. Dante sat at the table for hours, constructing runes to perform Reparo Maxima. The spell required not only a significant amount of magical energy but also a high level of control and consistency during the mending process.
Dante's mind worked like a well-oiled machine, breaking down the spell into its core components. He identified the key magical pathways and the points where energy needed to be concentrated. Then, he began sketching a new design for the Magic Circuit, one that would replicate these pathways and automate the spellcasting process.
For days, he constructed runes. For days, he translated those runes into smaller circuits. Finally, after two months of work, Dante managed to stack the circuits to create the first Reparo Maxima Magic Circuit. He leaned back and examined his creation. The Magic Circuit glowed faintly, shimmering with latent power. It was ready for testing.
He placed the broken vase in the center of the table and activated the circuit. A soft hum filled the room as the magic flowed through the pathways, and in an instant, the vase was whole again—its cracks vanished as if they had never existed. It worked. A spell that had once been out of reach for most was now accessible to anyone with a Magic Circuit.
Dante carried the Magic Circuit in his hand with a smile as he walked toward the door of his workshop. He was planning to share the news with his family and let Lucius spread the circuit so people could try to replicate it for actual use. This would encourage others to build their own Magic Circuits and further advance the field.
Dante was just steps away from the door of his workshop, the newly completed Reparo Maxima Magic Circuit in his hand, when the door exploded. A blast of magical energy made him take few steps back, his ears ringing and his vision blurring for a moment. He blinked, his silver eyes narrowing as he looked up to see three men stepping through the shattered remains of the door.
The man at the front had bright red hair and a stern expression. Behind him were two others, their wands drawn and their expressions serious. Dante immediately drew his own wand, his voice cold and sharp. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?"
The red-haired man stepped forward, his tone formal but tinged with disdain. "Arthur Weasley, Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, Ministry of Magic. These are Aurors Johnson and Carter. We're here to investigate reports of illegal dark artifacts."
Dante's gaze flickered between the three men. Arthur continued, "We didn't mean to startle you, but we're here to do our job. Please step aside so we can continue our investigation."
Dante didn't move. Instead, his eyes dropped to the Magic Circuit in his hand. His heart sank as he realized the delicate circuit had been destroyed in the blast. Months of work—gone. The materials alone were rare and difficult to acquire: dragon blood, basilisk skin, and other precious components. Rebuilding it would take months.
His annoyance flared into anger, and when he looked up again, his silver eyes glowed faintly, radiating malice. The three men instinctively took a step back, unnerved by the intensity of his gaze.
"You've ruined months of work," Dante said, his voice low and dangerous. "And now I'll need even more time to gather the materials to start over."
Arthur frowned, his tone defensive. "That was an accident. The door was locked, and we assumed Lucius Malfoy was hiding something here."
Dante's voice was icy. "The door wasn't locked. You three idiots blasted it for no reason. And look around you—do you see any dark artifacts?"
Arthur's frown deepened, but he stood his ground. "We can't just look; we need to search carefully. Now, step aside. This is your last warning."
Dante's eyes narrowed, his patience wearing thin. Arthur has always disliked the Malfoys, and fueled by his children's stories about Dante's actions at Hogwarts, he viewed Dante the same as Lucius, and with time Dante could become another dark lord considering his talent.

Earlier, in the dining room, Lucius, Narcissa, and Draco were enjoying a quiet lunch. Narcissa glanced at Dante's empty seat, her brow furrowed with concern. "He's been working so hard lately. I hope he's not overdoing it."
Lucius waved a hand dismissively. "He'll be fine. Dante knows what he is doing"
Draco nodded in agreement, though his eyes flickered with curiosity about what his brother was working on.
Their conversation was interrupted when Dobby, the house-elf, popped into the room. "Master, Mistress, visitors from the Ministry of Magic are here," he squeaked nervously.
Lucius's expression darkened. "The Ministry? What do they want?"
He rose from the table, Narcissa and Draco following close behind. They found Arthur Weasley and a group of Aurors standing in the foyer, their wands at the ready.
"Weasley," Lucius said, his voice dripping with disdain. "What brings you to my home?"
Arthur's expression was smug. "We're here to search for dark artifacts. We have reason to believe you're hiding them."
Lucius's jaw tightened, but before he could respond, one of the Aurors stepped forward and handed him a search permit. "This is official Ministry business, Mr. Malfoy. Cooperate, or we'll treat you as a criminal."
Lucius's eyes burned with anger, but he had no choice. He stepped aside, his voice cold. "Search all you want. You'll find nothing."
As the Ministry officials began tearing through the manor, Arthur lingered, his smug expression infuriating Lucius. Narcissa's hands clenched into fists, but Lucius held her back.
When the search reached Dante's workshop, Lucius stepped forward. "My son is working in there. I'll inform him of your presence."
Arthur immediately blocked his path. "No one enters that room until we've searched it. We suspect you're hiding something there."
The Aurors exchanged glances, then one of them spoke. "Mr. Malfoy, stay back. Two of us will accompany Mr. Weasley to inspect the room."
Lucius narrowed his eyes and said, "Very well. But if you anger my son, be prepared to visit St. Mungo's."
Not taking Lucius's warning to heart, Arthur and the two other Aurors walked toward the door, blasted it open, and entered.
Lucius watched them enter and sighed. Narcissa tried to walk forward, but Lucius held her back. She looked at him angrily, but Lucius turned to the men in front of him and said, "You can't say I didn't warn you… and you can use the Floo Network."
Moments later, screams echoed from the room, and the wall exploded outward, sending Arthur and the two Aurors flying like rag dolls. They landed in a heap, unconscious and battered.
From the wreckage, Dante emerged, his silver eyes glowing with fury. He radiated malice, his gaze locking onto the remaining Aurors, who froze in fear.
Lucius coughed lightly, breaking the tension. "These three had nothing to do with the door. It was the red-haired idiot alone."
Dante's gaze shifted to Arthur, who groaned weakly on the floor. With a flick of his wand, Dante struck him with a spell, causing Arthur to cry out in pain. The Aurors raised their wands, but a single look from Dante made them lower them immediately.
Without another word, Dante turned and walked back into his workshop. Lucius turned to the Aurors again, his tone almost cheerful. "You should take your colleagues to St. Mungo's. I believe they'll need extensive care."
The Aurors scrambled to obey, their earlier confidence gone.
Narcissa was too stunned to speak, while Draco looked at his brother with awe, stars practically shining in his eyes.
"Lucius," Narcissa said, her voice trembling, "how strong is Dante, exactly?"
Lucius smiled. "He wasn't joking when he said he could take on Dumbledore."
Narcissa felt a chill run down her spine. Her son was far more powerful than she had ever imagined. No wonder Lucius trusted him!!
