Harry Potter: Return From Future

Chapter 38: Barty Crouch Jr. (2)

The news headline came as a shock to Barty Crouch Jr. head had escaped the campsite and thus was not aware of carnage Harry had caused.

In a shocking series of events, firstly, in the midnight after the Quidditch world cup final was concluded, 13 individuals dressed in robes of death eaters', the same robe which had been a symbol of murders, pillage and suffering during the first wizarding war, launched a sudden attack on the camp site. More than a dozen people were injured by their attack but fortunately no causality has been reported so far. A state of panic and chaos ensued at the campsite.

DMLE led by Amelia Bones was too late to respond to the attack but someone else made a dramatic entrance.

This abrupt attack was then suddenly halted when another masked individual made a sudden appearance. What followed after this was utter carnage… massacre. Those people were not simple killed… they were torn apart… they were crushed… they were shredded.

The killing of the 13 people was so brutal that it is hard to put in the words. Except one wizard who had been impaled by a spear through his jaw, none of the 13 people had their corpses intact.

The article then went to elaborate the battle and what followed after that.

These series of events raise a lot of questions? Who were these 13 individuals? What was their motive? Why were they dressed in that particular robe? Do they have some form of connection with the 'dark lord'?

Neither the DMLE head nor the minister of magic have answers to any of these questions.

More importantly, who was that another mysterious individual? His motives are even unclear. The way he killed people… is he a good human? Or some another blood thirsty monster?

Do we even had an idea that a monster with such powers was roaming among us? An auror, on condition of anonymity accepted that their group despite having the DMLE head and head auror were no match for that man.

And once again, neither the DMLE head nor the minister of magic have answers to any of these questions.

In the centre of front page, surrounded by articles on all sides was large moving image of Harry Potter. The picture, obviously, had been extracted from the memories of one of the spectators.

While none of the facial feature of the man was clear, Harry's blazing eyes were clearly visible.

Barty read the article very carefully and studied the man even so carefully. Even from the moving image, Barty could feel fear and unease creeping inside him when he looked at the eyes.

He let out a deep sigh as he called, "Get me some tea."

The inn he was sitting in was a small one with not more than few tables. Since, it was early morning, the inn was empty other than one server.

Having no reaction from the server, Barty raised his head from the newspaper to look around.

Words struck in his throat and he gasped for air. Sitting across him was the same man from the newspaper. His face was still not visible as the incoming rays of the rising sun were glowing on Barty's eyes but even with his squinted eyes, Barty could see those eyes… those blazing eyes.

"Enjoying the morning newspaper with a tea," said Harry. "Quite a hobby you have, Mr. Crouch."

Barty squinted his eyes even more and tilted his face to make out the silhouette of the man sitting in front of him.

"Harry Potter…" muttered Barty with an immense shock. His eyes roamed from the newspaper to Harry's face as he tried to confirm and process the reality which was striking him in his face.

"Yes," said Harry with an amused expression. "That is me…"

Barty instinctively raised his wand and fired a curse towards Harry. Harry did not even falter and simple raised his index finger. A transparent magical shield was erected in front of Harry which absorbed Barty's spell.

"Do you fool not learn?" Harry said pointing his finger towards the newspaper. "You are no match for me."

"I am trying to have a civil conversation, Mr. Crouch," said Harry. "Won't you oblige me?"

In normal condition, Barty might have loved to have a 'conversation' with Harry Potter but after the news he had read and now witnessing Harry sitting in front of him, his blood had turned cold.

Another spell left his wand and he did not even witness to see the result as he apparated away from the inn.

Harry swatted the incoming curse with a backwards wave of his palm. He raised one of his eyebrows when Barty disappeared from the inn.

"I should have sealed this place," said Harry.

Harry too vanished from the inn as his words echoed, "Making me do extra work."

Barty after apparating had appeared in the nearby woods. He had breathed a mouthful of air to calm his nerves. He was just preparing himself for a long distance apparition when the space twisted in front of him and Harry appeared with a smiling face.

Before Barty could say another word, a spell struck his chest and he was rendered unconscious.

Similar to what Harry had done to Peter Pettigrew, Harry invaded Barty's mind as he set his plan once more in motion.
